I was never bothered by your cable management. It looked fine to me. Edit: Wow, it looks amazing now. Especially with the coat of paint. So, today I learned about a new cable management product.
To those people who were complaining about Cable management; I wonder if they even realized how unforgiving they were back then. Cables were somewhat thick. Sometimes they were malleable, but you didn’t wanna force them.
Team red! Tubing like this is great! The only problem is if you want to change the setup or move a console it becomes even more of a hassle. So you better review your setup and decide if you are happy with it the way it is before you start tubing
It isn't bad, and it might even be easier. This is very similar to cable management in data / phone network environments, which I've used a lot for the last couple decades. You can just pull the cover off the channel to expose the inside, and then route your new cable, or remove an old one, etc., then snap the cover back on. Contrast that to undoing and redoing velcro strips every few inches...
Team Red. It's my favorite color. Both ways look awesome. I'm still amazed at your game room. Next will be a projector screen to pop down just in front of one set of shelves and have a console connected to a projector. 🙂 Just throwing out ideas for more content? Love the channel.
very good!! also good decision on the paint, im sure people said to sand it but honestly its already done just spot paint it whenever, you never know you might decide to change it completely one day. Cable management isn't the worst either no matter what people have said, you're at least conscious about the draw of power and the isolation of the many different power bricks im sure you deal with.
Quick tip for painting plastic. Use sandpaper to rough up the plastic your gonna paint. If you just paint plastic it will slowly chip off cause the paint has nothing to adhere to. Sanding it fixes that
I just discovered your channel today, it was the power bar video. The one thing you didn't mention was the fact that most of these consoles pull about 20-30 watts maybe, so your setup is more than fine and safe. Ignore the haters. When my son was young, I set up his room with a modded Xbox, modded PS2, N64 and Game Cube, all with 2 or more wireless controllers each. Output from all 4 and a VCR were routed through his computer monitor. Yes, I spoiled my son, LOL. Everything was on a big desk, it was quite impressive, not as impressive as yours of course. I looked through your videos and I didn't see one on how you did the signal switching. My son had a 5 way switch which was the largest I could find at the time. Thankfully everything was RGB back then. I imagine your signal switching scheme must be quite complex and impressive, would make a great/interesting video. P.S. We are techies, we like the look of wires as long as they are neat and managed, keep the wires.
Nice! Those raceways are a good price, I might pick some up for myself. Man, you just keep coming up with setup ideas for me to steal. Keep up the good work.
Dude, this is YOUR setup. You do you. Ignore all the haters. With this many systems, yes, you’re going to have a LOT of cables. The way you have them bundled up in the back is just fine. Don’t worry about what all the critics say. If it’s functional and works for you, that’s good enough. Nice touch with the new wire coverings though. It’s a lot of work, and constant improvement is on the minds of all game collectors, so do what you want and what works best for you. The main goal is the overall enjoyment of your game room.
i appreciate the neatness that cable management and covers offer, but for me, it's too impractical as i frequently change out/swap/maintain devices, unplug and plug cables in etc. i can easily overlook the clutter of cables if it means me not having to bend and twist my body under the desk or behind a shelf. this is also why i never have my (PC) setup up against the wall for easy access so i'm more of a function over form person.
Hey, keep at it. UA-cam is reccomending at least one of your videos to me a day over the last week without yet subscribing. And as you know any gaming topics are crowded field. I love your style/suttle comedy. Keep at it. As you addressed in a previous video its a slow build. Good luck
the red paint on the raceways are really nice, paint it alllllll its painful but its going to look so nice. i really love this type of setup with those covers
One thing that someone with a similar setup could do is to grab some spare cardboard or poster foam board, paint it, and use it to create "fake walls" behind the consoles. Just have holes/notches/cutouts at the top and bottom for cables to route through. Attach to the shelving with Velcro tape to make it easier to remove for maintenance.
Wow this this makes such a big difference! at first I thought black looks better but now that I look at it after you painted it all red I think it looks better than the black.
Thanks for the link to the raceways. Have you considered routing the cables up the outside of the main poles of the racks? They'd be even less visible than in the painted raceways.
The paint came out surprisingly well, I think it's a major improvement. When you paint these again in the future, a quick spray can coating of primer will give you better color consistency and quality once when it's done.
Trying to appease people in youtube comments can be dangerous for your mental health. Your room is awesome. Toothbrush is clutch. Keep up the good work.
Just to clarify, I don't alter anything about the room/channel due to negative feedback. I just like to throw comments in there to make the video interesting. I also intentionally try to attract the negative comments because it drives engagement.
Your cable management seemed fine to me...Especially with the dark red wall. I'm actually planning on painting my wall a dark bluish grey to better hide the cables behind my setup.
I love this idea!!! I’m also using your mini shelf/stand idea with each console to hide the controller wires. I have 12 consoles on a IKEA shelving unit. I want to post a video about it when I finally get it looking clean.
Boy. Does that look amazing. I about had an aneurism from satisfaction when I saw the after shots. 😯 Edit: one thing I noticed is that you have somewhat of an advantage on organization when the cables are super long like that. Making it easy to combine the cables from each shelf into one or two columns of wires.
This is awesome. YES people still say this. I will need to grab these when I get a game room one day. Apartment living does not allow this. # DC Metro area is too expensive. Have your controllers always been in front of the consoles? I have always been wondering how to organize the controllers in a similar way. I did stumble upon a way to use a mail cubby (for letters) and you can put the controllers in each slot. That is what I currently do. But wrapping the controller wires I assume over time is not good for the cords correct? Plus the cubby takes up space even if the controllers are out away neatly.
Here’s what I do, I cut holes in my wall and fished them through another 100% hiding my wires. And for my two wall mounted consoles I’ve arranged the wires to look like a circuit board using clear double sided tape strips.
Yes, the red looks very nice. Those are pretty neat wire tracks. I have never seen anything like those before. Question: had you considered placing them on the supports on either side of each rack? Or would there possibly not be enough cabling in most cases to stretch over that far? That wold further camouflage them. Question 2: is there a possibility of signal degradation due to the number of cables bundled and/or some cables not being shielded heavily enough. (One reason I love Retrovision HD cables- the heavy shielding).
I am on team do what's best for you and not giving a f... about what other people say. Nice setup by the way. I am currently making my own gaming room and get a lot of inspiration. So thank you very much for your videos.
It's always nice to improve things but don't worry about the critics (trolls.) I don't know anyone who has so many consoles hooked up, ready to go, with controllers plugged in. Everyone else seems to have disembodied consoles, on too-small shelves, with no controllers, and that don't look like they're ready to play. I've got ten and I put them in IKEA Kallax shelves but with inserts, so that it's all hidden behind the doors, and the cables are hidden behind the back. Just looks like a cabinet with doors and a tv on top.
😀👍 Hi, Kevin. 😁 I am loving those wire/cable covers. 👍 I must admit, that the result at the end, looks much better. 🙂 And don't worry about those hater critics. 🙂 You will get the odd one, who will hate on your collection. 🙂 Even when you try to improve your set up.
The real problem here is the sheer quantity of game consoles in the collection. Maybe it's time to condense and sell off redundant or unnecessary game systems? For example, is it necessary to keep an Xbox One when u have a Series X that will play its library? Same with the PS4 Pro, why do u need it when the PS5 can run its library? And alot of the ancient consoles from the first and second generations. Are u really going to play some of these dinosaur consoles on a modern HDTV? Shrink down the collection to a more manageable amount and only keep the best of the best and sell what isn't needed. Keep a curated collection and dump the crap that u don't actually play or use.
Ive got to agree on the color of the walls. Its bad. Washes out all the systems. Plz make walls light blue or white. Thank you for your anticipated cooperation.
Hey man, I ended up here because someone in the #emu irc channel on EFNet brought your video up, and I gotta say, you've got a really nice style! We're all big fans now. Come over one day if you feel like it!

It looked fine to me.

So, today I learned about a new cable management product.
I always love how the people that leave bad comments seem to never have a display pic or even any videos on there channel.
To those people who were complaining about Cable management; I wonder if they even realized how unforgiving they were back then. Cables were somewhat thick. Sometimes they were malleable, but you didn’t wanna force them.
This is great cable TV.
🤣

To paint plastic you gotta sand the item. Paint it and then add a clear coat to it so it can last! I also learn the same way as you! Keep it up man!
Team Red. It's my favorite color. Both ways look awesome. I'm still amazed at your game room. Next will be a projector screen to pop down just in front of one set of shelves and have a console connected to a projector. 🙂 Just throwing out ideas for more content? Love the channel.
For now I need to keep the costs down, but I may add a PC desk to the room.

Your humor cracks me up. Glad you are doing this. Keep up the good work sir!
Thanks. I actually had to cut some of the humor out on this one. Got too carried away.
This is the exact same tubing I got for my desk and it changed my whole life. It really is a night and day difference!
Quick tip for painting plastic. Use sandpaper to rough up the plastic your gonna paint. If you just paint plastic it will slowly chip off cause the paint has nothing to adhere to. Sanding it fixes that
Especially if that's nylon.

There's always something else on Amazon!
I didn't think the bundled wires were all that bad but after seeing the painted covers it looks really sharp. Nicely done!
Always enjoy a nice cup of coffee while watching your videos I don’t usually comment just wanted to say I love your videos
This is high quality entertainment!

The covers are a pain to get off, but once they are off it's not too difficult to add and remove things.
I wouldn't have bothered with cable raceways. For the ease of moving and replacing stuff that is plugged in.
sometimes when I touch wires they hurt me. grandma Martha has a lot of them in her house and they have smoke sometimes
LOL
Looks great. Good call on not putting fabric to avoid a fire

the red paint on the raceways are really nice, paint it alllllll its painful but its going to look so nice. i really love this type of setup with those covers
Team black! The black contrasted the wall pretty well IMO.
One thing that someone with a similar setup could do is to grab some spare cardboard or poster foam board, paint it, and use it to create "fake walls" behind the consoles. Team red. Looks fantastic!! I'm glad you went through with the additional labor, well worth it
Thanks for this video. It's very interesting.
It looked fine before, it looked fine with black raceways, it looks fine with red ones now. Another interesting video, thanks for posting.
Thanks for the link to the raceways.
Have you considered routing the cables up the outside of the main poles of the racks? They'd be even less visible than in the painted raceways.
My favorite part is this man´s setup is the toothbrush
Very cool. Love how much you take care of your game room!
The paint came out surprisingly well, I think it's a major improvement. When you paint these again in the future, a quick spray can coating of primer will give you better color consistency and quality once when it's done.
congrats on all the Patreon members, they're really multiplying huh
Like tribbles
That looks fantastic!! Good decision to paint the entire piece red.
The painted red looks really good even from the sides !
These looks awesome! Great work.
Trying to appease people in youtube comments can be dangerous for your mental health. Your room is awesome. Toothbrush is clutch. Keep up the good work.
Constructive criticism is always good though.
Just to clarify, I don't alter anything about the room/channel due to negative feedback. I just like to throw comments in there to make the video interesting. I also intentionally try to attract the negative comments because it drives engagement.
Excellent. Came out so well. Once it’s totally finished it will be the best ever.
People do still say awesome and that's what this video was! 👏
I think you made the right decision to paint it all red.
Your cable management seemed fine to me...Especially with the dark red wall. I'm actually planning on painting my wall a dark bluish grey to better hide the cables behind my setup.
Those cable management channels look awesome.
Love it when you show them kinda comments like that! 😆
I love this idea!!! I’m also using your mini shelf/stand idea with each console to hide the controller wires. I have 12 consoles on a IKEA shelving unit. I want to post a video about it when I finally get it looking clean.
Looks real slick man. Great job

I was team Red even BEFORE your executive decision; looks great! Awesome video, as always
Black all the way IMO! Looks fantastic 👌
Dude those tunes look so good man
This is such a great idea. Your channel really inspires me for my setup.
I would say team black, but the red looks good too, looks awesome
I had to route about 20 feet of cords because my TV center is on wheels, I ended up using velcro ties and I've never looked back.
This is awesome. YES people still say this. I will need to grab these when I get a game room one day. Apartment living does not allow this. # DC Metro area is too expensive. Definetly team red. Great solution here!
Love your setup man!
Great solution. I didn't mind the black though.
You could paint just your wall matrix style with alot of green and black going up and down. It would totally camouflage the wires.
You should install conduit behind the walls, between the studs.
What about the power bricks? I wanna clean up my cables but the power bricks have me scratching my head a little.
Nice video it is a lot better than the old wires
Great improvement. Looks fantastic. I was team black but the red isn't so bad. More hidden I guess
I may think about getting a wiring management system or a tube.
This is SUCH a serious issue.
Red fronts with black backs, the red obviously matches the wall nice but then having black backs helps with the shadow cast by them on the wall.
I am on team do what's best for you and not giving a f... about what other people say. Nice setup by the way. I am currently making my own gaming room and get a lot of inspiration. So thank you very much for your videos.
I think you are doing alright 👍
Looks awesome man!
I have roughly a third of your setup! And even that is a Cable nightmare!
Also....
Greetings from Germany!
Hello Germany!
Making videos about odd/strange games in your collection would be quite interesting :D
Love your passion for gaming.
I'm on "Team Red".
Looks much better !
I was surprised that people say his game center has bad cable management. I thought it was pretty good.
Nice, I think it looks great!
It's always nice to improve things but don't worry about the critics (trolls.) I don't know anyone who has so many consoles hooked up, ready to go, with controllers plugged in. Looks awesome!
Good job, looks better
Team black but red looks pretty good!
Team Red for sure! This is freaking awesome.

I actually think the black looks better
I may go back and remove the red. It should peel off easily
Looks great!
It was pretty clean before. But yes a good improvement !
Looking good!
I'm sold looks grate 👍
This actually looks much better
Iv got a few consoles but only one hooked up. You can only play one at a time.
A500 mini
Atari vcs ( la actual )
Cual sera su próxima adquisición
Ive got to agree on the color of the walls. Its bad. Washes out all the systems. Plz make walls light blue or white. Thank you for your anticipated cooperation.

Cool. I can't say I've heard of EFNet.
The red is better, but I can't imagine performing such a tedious task. It does look good though.
Bro is living the dream
looks 100% better 👌
Team executive decision, it’s your room after all!
Looks good 👍
Looks like you're zappin' to the extreme!
To the extreme! Just like Vanilla Ice.
