Use the siser white easyweed and the Clear Dye sub vinyl together ;) Extra steps involved but it will work if you want to sublimate on black cotton. Cut out the pattern on both the easyweed and the clear dye sub vinyl. Press the siser easyweed first, then the clear dye sub on top of that, and then sublimate on it.
@@AngieHolden Yes 1000% the easysubli is the best I have used so far for sublimation on colored 100% cotton tees, no question about it. HOWEVER, I would not recommend (nor will I ever do it again) it due to the time it takes trying to get it all to line up perfectly due to the vinyl shrinking as we all know it does (whew that was a task) and also the color was very muted and gave almost a vintage look, which is cool but not what I like. This is an excellent tutorial. I am brand new to sublimation and just purchased my first HTV vinyl and am clueless, until now how to use it. Thank you so much.
@Tanean Schaller I am in the same boat as you. I am just researching, buying supplies and heat press, printer, etc...I have not began just yet until I am totally ready and understand everything. I have wondered about this, does the adhesive for the permanent vinyl still work well even after being exposed to the heat of sublimation? Are you sublimating onto the vinyl before peeling and sticking it to whatever surface you are placing them on?
@@anthonygrimaldi9483 Yes the adhesive still works. Quite well actually. Yes you sublimate before peeling the backing, directly on the vinyl, but you can also press laminate onto the vinyl, then sublimate on to that. 370 degrees F for 60 seconds to press the laminate to the vinyl, then sublimate onto the laminate for the same temperature and time.
Thanks for this Video Angie! I have been mostly unhappy with my EasySubli material - its so thick! I am going to try some of this as an alternative for lighter colors.
The Clear Dye Sub on the black shirt seemed to have brought out the colors of the heart more so after several washings, yeah it's still light in comparison to the others but to me, it actually seemed to show the colors better vs. when it was first done and after the first wash.
For the white htv for both, you have to have the pressure very light otherwise it will stick. I ran into that problem before I figured out to have light pressure.
@@AngieHolden There are videos that show how to do it with with a lighter pressure. I mean since the paper was sticking it shouldn't be the assumption that the product doesn't work. As always we need to make adjustments.

I visited their website for more information on heat, time, pressure, and peel . . . the accompanying video suggested printing sublimation ink directly onto this product. Have you tried that?
For those, like me, who don't know what HTV means, it is Heat Transfer Vinyl. This is a vinyl layer bonded by heat to fabric, as opposed to a sublimation print that is transferred as dye onto fabric with the use of heat. This should give some context. The dye lasts much longer than the vinyl. In the dyed print, you will need a sublimation printer ($200 on Amazon for cheap one), special ink, and sub paper, all cheap. In the HTV vinyl print, you can use a regular printer, sublimation printer, any ink, and vinyl sheets instead of paper. I have never done any sublimation processes. Please correct me if I am wrong on these facts. This is my understanding.

Does the Clear Dye Sub feel like htv after subbing? One of the things I love about sublimation is that it doesn't have that plastic feel to it
It does still feel like HTV. It is a thinner HTV but you can still feel it.

Pretty sure the instructions are to peel cold.
If you use white htv on black
Then the clear htv over the white then sublimate on the clear works great 👍
That is just a lot of layers which I don't like to do.
Can you sublimate over a colored HTV? Like light blue or pink?
The HTV may or may not work first of all. Second that base color would alter the color of your image as it would show through.
I wonder if you can layer the clear HTV on top of regular white htv to give it a white background for black shirt?
I am sure that would work!
You have to put white vinyl under the clear to use it on dark shirts.
I do realize you can do that, however, that will add extra thickness which is what I am trying to avoid with sublimation.

Would love to see you cover one on Sprays. I got "NGoodiez" spray , After getting no results, I've looked all over for confirmation that it works, but it just will not work for me. Even if I spray and set twice before pressing the design, absolutely no ink transfers over.
Here you go: ua-cam.com/video/HwKqdtIWBYg/v-deo.html
How long did you press when you pressed the sublimations? My paper keeps sticking on the clear vinyl, my pressure is very light!
For the clear, follow the instructions exactly. If it does stick, you can use water to get it off. It could be humidity as well.
I wonder if you could iron the clear Vinyl on top of the white vinyl and get it to work?
I am sure you can but it will feel really thick on the shirt.
This is great. Thank you.
Thank you for this informative video! Can you do a video sublimating Siser Sparkle Snow Storm White?
It would be the same basic process if it will work on that HTV.
@@AngieHolden
Thank you for responding. I tried sublimating on the Siser Sparkle with no success. I’m just hoping someday you do a video on it. Thank you.
So I can use sublimation ink on Heat Transfer Paper ?
You would not want to use sublimation on heat transfer paper because heat transfer paper doesn't last very long.
On the black shirt what if you press siser white HTV first then clear sub on top of the white htv, then Sublimation on the clear?
I have seen people attempting that but I have not done it. I don't like the idea of all of those layers to fail.
Siser Easy subly or Forever Subli flex 202? What Is Best? And what Is Best solution for sublimation on Dark cotton t-shirt? Thanks
Thanks for the demo!
No problem!
Have you found any plain regular white htv that will take the sublimation?
No just regular white. I have used a few more products here: ua-cam.com/video/gQCZRndBTI8/v-deo.html
Do you think the clear dye sub will do what printable htv's do like in your wash test video where you compared htv, printable htv, sublimation, and other things? Like, do you think the ink will fade or the material will start to wrinkle? I hope that makes sense. Thanks you!
I washed these and didn't have the same issue.
@@AngieHolden Thank you!
The Clear Dye Sub HTV 4034 12"
Is currently not available. Does anybody know of any alternative? Bye the way, this is truly the best channel for creative plotters ever! Thanks for your great work!
There are two other clear dye sub products on the Heat Transfer Warehouse website that will work as well!
Ange this may be a huge ass ask but a majority of your links to purchase products are not available for Aussies.. Any chance for research for us guys plz ?
Sorry about that! I don't have a good way to research options in all countries.
Do you think the ink may have gone through the white HTV like it does with Oracle 651 when sublimating? You couldn’t tell unless you heated and pulled one of the HTV hearts off the shirt. Just wondering.
Sorry I have no idea! You can always put paper in between the layers of your shirt.
Just a thought…what if you did a layer of white htv the dark shirt then put the clear over then sublimate?
I think that would work. It would make it way thicker and would stand off of your shirt more.
Thank you so much for sharing your valuable knowledge. On 60/40 (cotton/poly) blend shirts, what should I use or anything? Thanks.
You need at LEAST 65% polyester in order for sublimation to work properly.
@@AngieHolden Got it. Thank you.
When I tried this, my sublimation color was completely washed out. What did I do wrong?
As shown, some HTV products work better than others.
Is sublimation different than infusible ink? I would say that I am running around in circles with this, but I am not that organized. Thanx for the info.
It is the same principle. Infusible Ink is just a form that doesn't need a printer and cuts with the Cricut.
@@AngieHolden What is the advantage to sublimation, if any? I have been trying Cricut infusible transfer sheets, pens and Silhouuette Printable Heat Transfers with an inkjet. Still just a beginner, but having fun with this.
The advantage would be you can print anything you want. You are limited on patterns with the Infusible Ink sheets. Plus tons of people print personal pictures for adding to items.
So what happens when you have to weed your clear vinyl and dont want to have one piece of the vinyl?
You would apply it in the same way but lining it up would be difficult.
What about putting a white htv under the clear sub for the dark shirt?
That could work! That would definitely make it thicker though and you could REALLY feel it at that point.
@@AngieHolden maybe for small logos in the left chest that have alot of detail?
Would like to see if it would work if you had some scrap pieces to try it on 😀👏
Any white htv?
I bought the glitter htv and white shirts. Can I sublimate on the glitter without a Cricut so I could cut by hand?
You can cut by hand. I would stick with a simple shape though.
I still see the colors on the clear when is on the black shirt… is it the room lighting that does that and in person is dark and dull? Thanks for the tests!
It doesn't show up very well.
What color of HTV can you use on dark colors?
You can use any HTV on dark colors but you would want something white to sublimate on.
I'm curious to know for more complicated images to cut.. or different images on ashirt will the clear htv be visible as background where there is no sublimation ink on it. I hope I'm clear
Yes you can see where it is. At least if you look closely.
Hi Angie hope all is well, Question on what settings do you cut your easy subli on the Maker?
The vinyl setting should work.
@@AngieHolden Thank you I will try that
Thank you. Great video. Much appreciated 👌
My pleasure!
Angie I'm new to this so if this is way out there please forgive me..... what if we sprayed the regular white htv with that poly spray? Do you think it would work then?
First, I haven't found a spray that I like at all. Second, I think I would just spray the shirt? I guess unless it was black.
Can you use HTV to sublimate on a ceramic coaster..
I have never tried that.
Hi , I ordered some sublimation shirts from someone and it looks really odd on the shirt it looks like a sign in the middle of shirt. Can I add some kind of border?
You can press it again but you do run the risk of fading the sublimation.
Wich brand of polyester shirt you are using?
The polyester one was a vapor apparel.
Just a thought for the black shirt regular white Siser Easyweed with Clear Dye Sub HTV is put over it then sublimate on top of that. So how I see it the white is like a backing while the clear dye sub for HTV is for sublimating... Anyone tried or care to try?
That would be really think on your shirt. Better to go with something like EasySubli in that case.
Hi, one thing I can't figure out. Can I use the same Sublimation Paper you use, on any textile of my own choice ?
It has to have polyester content. I recommend at least 75% polyester.
@@AngieHolden Thanks. Do you know if the is a Sublimation Paper for cotton ? Or it a NO GO?
If you sublimate on something else like in this video, it will work on cotton.
No transfer powder when you sublimate on vinyl???
I do not use DTF powder with sublimation.
@@AngieHolden man i cant figure it out, i used the process for sublimating on white cotton, i then tried using dtf powder, that worked but i cant get it to work
What would be the purpose of putting sublimation on htv? i'm new to sublimation
To add to cotton or dark colors.
Which printer do you use?
Here you go: ua-cam.com/video/-f4oH2x-Nu0/v-deo.html&lc=UgwotvwrfaVlwppx1M14AaABAg
Can you heat press htv and sublimation at the same time?
I do them at two different times.
Hi Angie, I am beginner. If I dont have cricut, how can I print image on t shirt? Thanks
If you have a sublimation printer, you don't need a Cricut for white and light polyester shirts. For dark and cotton, I am not sure if there is a good option as all of the products need to be cut.
