Thank you for sharing this! I always love hearing students talk about their high school study abroad experience because so so much of the industry is focused on only college (and higher). And CIEE is a great organization as well. Well done!
What about doing 10th-11th and 12th in Spain? Should that child go back to USA after 10th grade or stay in Spain and go College in Spain? Kid is bilingual and American too.
Yes I had to write papers in Spanish but it wasn’t too hard. Everyone was super accommodating, and when I talked to my teachers, they helped express what I was trying to say!
it was hard making friends since my Spanish wasn't great, but a lot of people were really nice and still tried to be friends with me anyway. Also, in Europe, it's much more common to go on a foreign exchange trip, so there were several Spanish students who had previously been exchange students, and I really connected with them. As far as events, it was a bit different because in Spain, most high schools don't have sports and clubs. You have to join those through outside programs, which means school spirit isn't the same as in the US. but within those, there was still a lot of strong community and they had lots of cultural events like Flamenco dancing events-- things like that. I hope that answers your question!
@@NicoleMartinsayshiare you going to do college in USA? Will yo do college in Spain ? My son is in Spain because mother is from Spain. Or would you advise to go back to USA to finish HS ?will the HS in USA convalidate 10th in Spain? Maybe better to Stay in Spain and go College in Spain? Any feedback? Thxs
Hii I am 14 years old and I am from Northern Ireland (its in the UK if you don't know) and I have been speaking Spanish since I was 5 and French since I was 12. Do you think it would be possible to get a scholarship for studying abroad I would be going next year probably so I would be 15-16 is there any requirements for a scholarship like good grades for example?
I know so many students that are terrified of the idea of living with a host family. Can you talk about your apprehensions and stresses vs the benefits of doing home stay?
@madi and mack I did a semester because I was scared that I wouldn't like it and that I'd miss too much school. But I ended up LOVING it. I really wish I had done the year!

Ooh yeah that’s a good video idea! I’ll make a video for that in a week or so and I’ll comment the link here :)
How long did you stay for? A semester or year?
A semester!
But I wish it was a year. If I could go back and change it, I’d stay for a year
