    Always connect positive to the battery first!!!

      Thank you for your comment. Can you explain to me why you believe the positive should be connected first. I was taught to put the negative on first and if you Google it you get both ways one says positive1st and other say -1st so explain to me why you believe positive first also I hope you leave me a thumbs up.

      @@buildingwithpapa the only real reason is the chance of shorting things out, in this case in a wooden trailer not such a big deal but with automotive or even lawn mowers, power sports etc. if your wrench/ratchet grounds out while tightening the negative nothing will happen. But if you touch ground while tightening positive your in trouble. Great video by the way! Nice install.

    When it’s plugged it to 7way will it drain your truck battery’s

    • @buildingwithpapa
      @buildingwithpapa  Рік тому

      Thank you for your question. No it should not drain your truck battery. I don’t leave my truck attached to the trailer 24 hours a day, but it wouldn’t matter if you were running the truck every day you’re only pulling power from the batteries when you’re using lights or whatever you’re using in the trailer, so no it should not drain your battery to your truck, I hope this helps you, and if you can leave me a thumbs up

    I want to run some STIHL battery trimmers for commercial lawn care. The charger draws 4.4 amps and I need 2 -3 of these running. Would one big battery work with a big inverter? Also how would I charge that battery would the truck running here and there in between properties work ?

    • @buildingwithpapa
      @buildingwithpapa  6 місяців тому +2

      Yes, one big battery and one big inverter will work fine when you’re driving from property to property. It’ll continue to charge the battery so you should not have any issues when I’m charging mine. I’m usually on a job site and I don’t run my vehicle at all, but minor smaller batteries for Dewalt and Ryobi tools, hand tools I haven’t had any issues and I’ve been doing it for years. I hope you enjoy the video, and if you can leave me a thumbs up.

      @@buildingwithpapado you need to charge this battery in the trailer or does it just charge off the 7 pin ?

      Well I set up the system and the charger drained the battery in just over an hour. So basically it won’t work because I’ll have to still charger all the battery’s at night as I need about 6 batteries to last a day and it died after charging one. I needed the charger to run for least 4 hours a day. 😩. So the time to set this all up was a waste and I’ll have to return the inverter and battery and take a loss on the wires and supplies.

      Was the battery fully charged? And how big of inverter do you have? Did you use marine batteries or just the car battery? You may need to set up more than one battery. I have the same set up in my trailer and I’m able to charge multiple batteries but again they’re only 18 V and 20 V batteries. I haven’t had any issues. Sorry to hear that you’re having some but there’s gotta be a way to work it out. I don’t know if you have the room for it, but you may need four batteries and what size inverter do you have?

    Question for you. So I have a GMC Canyon 2021. Factory installed. Do you know the amp limit for the 7 pin power. And does it turn off with the key?

    • @buildingwithpapa
      @buildingwithpapa  3 роки тому +1

      I don’t know the amperage but it was pulling the proper voltage and I’m not sure if it turns off when you turn the key off I don’t believe it does.
      Thank you for watching the video and asking your question.

    I would like to do something like this to my trailer to put some light and outlet. the 7pin harness it’s connected to the vehicle to charge the inverter?

    • @buildingwithpapa
      @buildingwithpapa  2 роки тому

      The seven pin is actually charging the battery or batteries, the inverter is changing the power from DC to AC and then that will light your lights. If you want an outlet and power you have to make sure you have the right inverter for whatever you’re plugging into the outlet, for this trailer we had to locate an air compressor that would not pull to much amperage when it was starting up. I hope this helps you and if you can leave me a thumbs up.

    I looking to charge 8 20v dewalt/craftsman batteries. I think the amps per 4 stall battery charger is 36 amps. What size inverter would be best if this setup would work?

    • @buildingwithpapa
      @buildingwithpapa  2 роки тому

      Thank you for your comment.
      36 ampa is a lot, so I would definitely try to get a charger like a multi charger so that you can put multiple batteries in but it’s only charging one at a time this will pull less amperage.

    • @buildingwithpapa
      @buildingwithpapa  2 роки тому

      In this video I used a 3000 W the reason we use that was because he had multiple things to run but he was also going to run a air compressor and for that the start up amperage that was needed he had to look for a different air compressor.
      So you would have to research exactly what your chargers of pulling in anywhere is from a 3000 to 5500 W would work.
      If you like this video and if you can leave me a thumbs up.

    Why not with a solar panel ?

    • @buildingwithpapa
      @buildingwithpapa  8 місяців тому

      Well, first, the customer didn’t want that I only installed what he wanted but yes the solar panel would help if you’re not hooked up to the truck, but why do you need a solar panel if you’re hooked up to the truck when you’re using the trailer every day I don’t use my trailer every day and I don’t use a solar panel either cause whenever I need the power the trailer is always hooked up to my truck, so it makes sense to use the seven pin but a solar panel wouldn’t hurt. I hope you enjoyed the video, and if you can leave me a thumbs up.
