absolutely, greatly appreciate everything Junkball has done. I never turn on the notifications for youtube videos usually, his is one of the ones that I definitely have it turned on for.
I saw it in a toy shop when i was a kid... i was soooo mad that they got it so wrong, smelled like "it's just a toy for kids, who cares?" mentality to me. I had no idea they were working off of early Concept Art ...putting that into production, why would you do that? lol. They did that with the Generations Uniforms on the action figures AND the DS9 Runabout that had very wrong front windows as well...
I think the FC toy is more interesting because it's so different than what we got in the movie. The toy mold was mostly corrected for Insurrection, though it was still kinda funky.
Enterprise E technically does (partially) appear in a TV show. There’s one episode of Voyager were Barkley contacts Troi... shes on the “E”, so her backdrop is a wall of the Enterprise.
FUN FACT: The title "Resurrection" was going to be the name of the post-WW3 shanty town in Montana, and also alluding to the idea that Earth was picking itself up after a global conflict. It got changed because of a certain woeful Alien movie. (It's ok, I know some people like it, I'm not having a go)
I noticed that before the arrow pointed to it (I paused to look at the size of C, D, and E) and before I noticed that it was a different word (Re- vs. In-surrection). Tbf, that's a not exactly uncommon misspelling. (Still better than the ST:TNG Technical Manual. I HAD that book. I enjoyed it for 5 minutes, until I found the amount of bull______ it contained. One edition wrote that there were two self-destruct mechanisms: the primary (via antimatter annihilation) and a secondary one via fusion bombs (to be used if the ship was out of antimatter or to destroy the saucer when it was away from the warp section). About the explosive yield, they said something (quoting from memory here) that the combined yield of the fusion bombs was about half that of the antimatter and gave 1000 and 500 photon torpedoes as equivalent. So far, so good. But then they gave as SI units 10^18 and 10^9 [sic] joules. Whoever wrote that last bit obviously never graduated, not even from a fish school. I really wonder why anybody on a channel like this would even _consider_ using that "manual" as a source.
USS Titan looks like the compact version of the Enterprise E, it has the similar function like Nebula and Reliant class had. Nice to see you do videos again!😃
Considering that the Enterprise -E was up and running so soon after the D's destruction, it meant that particular Sovereign ship was already under construction, or at least designated for shipyard space. That means that some other Captain and crew were bumped down the list of available ships. Still some of that crew would have been transferred as replacements for casualties from the D's crash. And then after First Contact, a lot more of the originally promised crew that was gazumped for the Enterprise - E's mob would have been reassigned in order to make up for those assimilated by the Borg. At that point the remaining Sovereign crew that are designated understudies/substitutes for the E would be requesting transfer to a Oberth for safety reasons. Imagine the complaints: "They lost a _Galaxy class_ to a single obsolete Bird of Prey and they get the ship I was promised? You can't trust them with that record." [After First Contact] "See! Where's the main deflector dish? The hulls covered in micro fractures and look at what's been done to engineering? [[After Insurrection] They need a new warp core - what a shock. [After Nemesis] Don't tell me what they've done… my old Excelsior is fine after the refit anyway, you do know it was already mothballed when they got given _my ship_ Still, it's lucky for Starfleet that their flagship went down just as they were bringing in a new super duper capital ship that would have outclassed it - it would be embarrassing having the pride of their fleet be an obsolete ship. … … The destruction of the D was an inside job!!?!
what i love the most on the Enterprise E is that it is build for "war" .. like the Nebula class :) and i realy wish that they spend more money on that creapy fleet scene in "Picard" i was so disapointing on that shot .. man :(
Funny point about Sirtis. I'll always remember her at a panel blaming the fans for the movie franchise failing, saying that if we'd gone to see Nemesis, they could have kept making movies. Well, fast forward and I'm gratified to see her character having such a small and unimportant (except that time she screws Starfleet) role in Picard.
I hate to be that guy, but the last time we here about the Enterprise E is in the Star Trek Picard prequel novel: The Last Best Hope, where Worf is captain. I'm not sure how the novel and the events of Picard can be tied in with Countdown as there are some pretty major contradictions.
I think that the "hatchback" compact class for Sovereign is Luna class. Anyway, I absolutely love this ship. It's probably because due to my age, First Contact was the first movie I saw. Mad respect to all those came before, especially the A, but E is just something else.
The looking-like-a-turkey problem comes back in the kelvin Enterprise, but the kelvin refit solves the problem (only to come back with the kelvin-a sadly)

I miss studio models so much. I've loved your videos for years, and I love everything I learn about the work put into building these ships. In quarantine I took up model building, and it requires a lot of research into studio models, and I lament both the loss of them and matte paintings as gorgeous art from a bygone era.

The Enterprise E concept art that look a turkey in a pot should have been called the Plymouth Class for reference to the first Thanksgiving in 1621 for Plymouth. I like how Eves did the moving necells and the Enterprise E made its debut in November 1996 in time for Thanksgiving for First Contact.

In Discovery the ROCKS get major screen time when the Emperor fights Control in that hallway - the camera zooms right up to the ROCKS, probably because later as the gravity goes funny and they do that inception hallway fight thing, the rocks roll from wall to wall as gravity shifts around.
There really should have been *concept ships* built for the _Stardate 49800 Starship expo._ Ship designers could've just replicated up some flights of fancy full scale models and stuck whatever stats they wanted on them. Put them on display with some Orion babes standing next to them inside force fields holding breathable air, gently stroking the hulls. The only complaint to STP3 is the lazy writting of the Enterprise G so disrespectful to Shaw and all who lost there lifes saving the galaxy ...so lets honour them but stripping there history and adding it to the Enterprises lol so so wrong .
I will never understand why during the Dominion war the Enterprise E wasn't on the front lines but off on border patrol or diplomatic type missions..you are facing the end of the Federation... Every major power is involved and fighting for survival but the Feds want to keep there newest best ship nice and shiny off in no mans land... Get that damn ship to the front lines to lead the way and kick some Jem Hadar ass.
1996 was such a pivotal year. I still have many computers from that time - on two separate acquisitions, I got a bunch of fandom files, and on another (NEC V30) the line-art representation of the 1701-A. I mean 1996 was way more pivotal than that for me, but heh, context.
I'd love to see a video on the section 31 ships in star trek discovery. They were never really shown clearly, either with motion blur, at odd angles, or very dark shots. There is something weird about the proportions and it felt like the design was really lacking any kind of surface details for scale. I'd like to see a breakdown on that one because I could never figure out just what I was looking at.

Well I figure this the 3 nacel enterprise was erased when the timeline was reset when Picard made a wrong choice during generations and was further changed when they traveled back in time and zephram Cochran saw the enterprise and heard its name as well so you got the Nx 01

I wish they'd stuck with the design of the 1701-D instead of putting the TNG crew in a radically different ship. It never felt like home the way the one on the show did.

Well I figure this the 3 nacel enterprise was erased when the timeline was reset when Picard made a wrong choice during generations and was further changed when they traveled back in time and zephram Cochran saw the enterprise and heard its name as well so you got the Nx 01

I wish they'd stuck with the design of the 1701-D instead of putting the TNG crew in a radically different ship. It never felt like home the way the one on the show did.

Its been so long! This made my month. I don't dislike the E. But the D will always be my favorite. The phaser rifles and warp nacelles looked really similar in the TNG movies.
