Nice how the last couple who spent all their time in the internet cafe while their child starved at home blamed it on not being able to find jobs. Maybe if they spent all day on those computers looking for employment instead of playing games they'd have had different results.
Oh man, I remember reading about a case like this for the first time. I think it took place in Brazil, there was this 16 year old who was friends with an 11 year old and they were neighbors, they played an online RPG together and one day the 11 year old stole some gold from him. He got so angry over it that he went to the 11 year olds house (the kids were home alone at the time), he beat and sexually abused the 11 year old, when the kid was unconscious, he thought he was dead, so he cut off his legs to drag the body somewhere else, during the process of the leg cutting the 11 year old woke up in extreme pain and he died after a while. The 11 year olds brother later came home to see his little brother cut to pieces on the floor of the front door hallway. It was probably one of the most horrific cases I've read about at the time, it included the crime scene photos. This 16 year old had many more problems than just in-game gold being stolen obviously, and I think he killed himself at around 2009 but nobody is for sure.
I am Brazilian and had never heard of it. I just searched the case and my gosh that was some horrible shit, but apparently it wasn't because of Tibia. The 16yo lied about it and the true reason was because he( the 16yo) had abused the 12yo boy.
Early 2002 I would play Sims while my newborn took his nap. This was my down time because by time he was ready for his naps everything else I needed to do would already be done. One day I put my baby down for his nap around 11:30am and started to play Sims. Usually my alert to stop playing was hearing him wake up. This particular day my alert was the sun starting to set 😐. When I looked at the clock it was almost 5pm😓. My son had slept for 5 hours and I was totally unaware of the time because I was playing my game. Thankfully no harm ever came from this but it scared me so much being a new mom and that my baby has missed two feedings. After that I only play games once my kids are in bed for the night or we play together during the day.
Oh my gosh, that’s so crazy. Getting lost in worlds like the sims and animal crossing can really hypnotize you... so glad nothing bad happened but that you’re also clearly a loving mother who has her priorities straight! I’m sure as a new mom you were so tired which can make you even more susceptible to that kind of “highway hypnosis” effect!
@@silvertain1978 so true. I definitely know that now after having 4 children. But then, being a new mom, forgetting to feed my baby and not sticking to his schedule seemed like a huge disaster. But I realized how easy it is to get lost in a game and forget your responsibilities, like your children and I never want that to happen again. I'm just lucky he was sleeping and not something else that could have been avoided if I had not been so wrapped up in my game.
Never had a place to put this story but I went to high-school with a kid who shook his baby to death he was always getting mad at games and overall aggressive when you beat him because he just had to win or have it is his way, eventually when he was home laid off from work with the baby one day he shook it death because it wouldn't stop crying and he wanted to get back to the game or whatever. Halo isn’t even that much of a violent game. The only really violent and disturbing parts are flood transformations and the flood itself. Other than that, halo is essentially the very entry level of M rated games.
Pretty sure that kid did it because his parents were abusive religious nut jobs, not that it makes it right to do, but yeah halo is definitely a pretty mild game, the fact they thought it was too violent is really telling to how they probably dealt with other things in the kid’s life. If your kid murders you before they are an adult, it’s very likely you are to blame at least in part.
@@sirramic202 it’s not really about the Halo it’s just a matter of parents who quite obviously didn’t know how to parent their kid correctly. I doubt this was the first time the kid’s parents did something like this to get this type of response.

Thank you for saying in your sum-up about the cases with the particular horrors of the 'actions of neglect', and not just 'where kids died'. Don't get me wrong, it is *appalling* that anyone could forget or not care that they have children, but I am glad to hear you have a heart for the dogs that died too. Pets are just as dependant on their owners for care and food - honestly there should be a licence to own pets, they're not just amusements or 'dumb mutts'. Those dogs deserved so much better just as the kids did, and I am sickened by the people who treat them with such callous neglect.

It was so hard to hear what she had done. Over a damn game yet! Selfish and heartless. She deserves to be handled worse... For the remainder of her life in prison
The child neglect hits very very close to home for me. When I was young I knew a kid named Michael. When I met Michael his dad had been dead for 4 years. The only thing his dad left him was a level 60 undead wizard in the game World of Warcraft. I still wonder about Michael, who was well on his way to becoming a neglectful WOW addict like his father. I hope he got out of it.
Wait why is that college athlete guy on this list? Pokemon Go was briefly mentioned at the beginning, but you specifically said that no clear motive or anything has been identified, so how do we know this was over a video game? I'm confused
I feel like people think that video games make people aggressive, while i feel like it's videogames that attract people who have tendencies towards aggressive acts. This is just my speculation though
I agree. I have many fantasies that I can't act out in real life. Not because they're violent, but because there is no space travel and no aliens to fight at the moment. I can not act out my actual violent tendencies because police are practically omniscient with forensic science. Not only that, a simple fight will result in my termination from my job. Now, I have a plan for that and it involves mass harm to the populace for I can not feed my tendancies if I have no money. I also refuse therapy because therapy does not work on me for I refuse to care about what I need to do to improve. I dont want to improve for someday I will die and all improvements will be for nothing. Video games help distract me from these trains of thought, and as such I need to play them or fall into despair and act out on my violent tendencies. Thanks for cumming to my Ted tawk.
I would say though that there are lot of games which are greatly frustrating for a reason or another, so there are games that could make someone with predisposition aggressive or more aggressive.
A lot of these cases, especially the South Korean one and the first one, sound like parents were suffering from postpartum depression, I'm no doctor in any way though so I could be wrong. Plus not everyone with the mental illness would do such evil things to their children so it's not much of an excuse.
That isn't Post Partum. Post Partum symptoms are depression or feeling as if you can't be close to your baby, can't bond. Post Partum psychosis causes mental symptoms. Getting mad or obsessed over a video game isn't Postpartum The JOY they found playing the video games ,shows that. Just because they had kids doesn't mean that had anything to do with it. They were neglectful and bad parents
Right. I have panic and anxiety disorder and my partner of 14yrs has schizophrenia and we're not perfect but love and care for our kids, they're what keep us going everyday. It's not difficult to feed and nurture your children and if someone finds that they can't take care of their kids give them to a relative for awhile, let a friend watch them, I remember one of my daughters had colic and she'd cry for an hour straight sometimes I'd have to feed her and leave her safely in her crib for 10-15min just to go get my sanity back.
@@levitargaryen317 That's exactly why I aint a doctor lol. I think wanted to give some benefit of doubt because how outrageously evil and callous their actions were.
@@levitargaryen317 You're wrong as it could be a symptom of post partum depression, the fact that some of these mothers got addicted to games doesn't necessarily mean they found joy in them but could be they used it as an escape from the depression and hence got hooked on something, anything that possibly alleviated the feelings of depression. People cope with post partum and postpartum depression in different ways. I myself immersed myself in video games and media from my childhood when I was suffering from postpartum depression, panic attacks and agoraphobia. It was the only thing that made it easier to live through another day. It was a way to" escape" to something that brought a little bit of comfort. I had family caring for my newborn at the time and I never got full blown "addicted " to the media and games I was investing in but I could easily see how it could be possible and could have spiraled out of control had I not had any help with the situation or if I had been alone. It's not an excuse and can't say for sure it's the case but it's ignorant to rule out post partum completely as symptoms of depression vary from person to person

I can’t even begin to believe that video games do this to someone. I used to play this game called Star Wars: Galaxies and had 1,706 days and multiple hours and minutes on it. Unfortunately, I became a heroin addict but I beat the addiction. It had nothing to do with video games. I can’t blame it on anything but myself. I’ve been clean for more than three years and every single day I am so grateful. It’s really heartbreaking to see people get this psychotic over a video game. Being born in 1990, I have been obsessed with gaming since Nintendo64, PlayStation 1, Xbox and their predecessors. I’m currently a PC gamer to this day racking up thousands and thousands of hours playing Shogun II: Total War and Rome: Total War, but gaming has never affected my life. In the slightest. Whether I lose or even get dominated. Video games are supposed to be fun, foremost, and a challenge, secondly, for you to strive to be better. Which hopefully influences the player to struggle to be better in their life. Again, video games are an amazing thing. Whether some get addicted to them or not shouldn’t be a problem. However, the mental state of video game players should be evaluated. It can be a source of entertainment or a source of disgrace for some people.
The first story makes me think that we need mandatory testing for people to evaluate whether or not they're emotionally mature enough to raise a child.
Well Idk about letting the government having that much influence on what they deem as emotionally mature. Especially in something so detrimental to a babies future and soon thereafter one of us. Most people, even ones who study this can’t grasp this bc it’s just not that simple. Hell nawl. Plus half the people that advocate most gov mandated things literally say “facts over feelings” like it’s a mating call.
@k.c I kind of feel like it’s the opposite. People who say “facts over feelings” are usually the kind of people who want the government out of their lives and away from their kids
I had to stop playing video games in my twenties because I noticed I was becoming obsessed like these people. It’s no joke; the world becomes less real than the game.
I was completely hooked on a game called evony the kings return ,it took all of my time and money ,I was literally ruining my life immersing myself in this game for over 12 months. I began to realise how much of an issue it was (helped with my wife's nagging) and from that day I deleted the game and regained my life. Be careful kids this is a serious habit
The music especially at the start was teeth grinding and detracted from what you were saying. It calmed down after a while but tbh your uploads do better without the distraction. Great albeit heartbreaking content. ❤️
Every game that came up: ugh, how stupid! what a stupid game! Smallworlds comes up: oooh, yeah, I can see that! lol Man, I miss that game! I started playing when I was bedbound after a surgery. I had multiple little digital clocks set to the time zones of my friends around the world and would be up at all hours playing. There is no other game out there that even comes close to it. I started a business in it using photoshop to create stuff, so whatever few hours I wasn't playing, I'd be creating for it. I had spreadsheets for production, multiple email/Flicker/and SW accounts. One day I realized that I was addicted so I gave all my info to a friend in the UK, and never played again. It went defunct about a year later - maybe 10 years ago? - and I miss it to this day. Still have contact with a few of my friends from there!

@Jessica Coombes Well not _all_ murderers. People who killed their abuser(s) out of desperation to get away from them don't deserve jail time at all, much less life.
But murderers who killed innocents, especially children or animals? Give them all life sentences and make them suffer.

I'm coming out of this video slightly traumatized.
Nice how the last couple who spent all their time in the internet cafe while their child starved at home blamed it on not being able to find jobs. Maybe if they spent all day on those computers looking for employment instead of playing games they'd have had different results.
This channel is mad under rated, good stuff man! Edit: wow you have grown!

I can't believe you left out the murder over the game Tibia! I believe it was in Brazil, and it was BRUTAL. Be warned, graphic pictures are online.
I searched it up and I'm mad that he only got 3 years.
I was thinking the same thing throughout the video.
@@nealp.6252 I honestly thought it was gonna be #1 because it's so awful.
That case seems to be more known in Latin America. I think I have only heard one English-speaking youtuber talking about it.
How is that a problem? If your son was hungry he would let you know quickly. If they sleep like that enjoy it when it happens

Thank you for saying in your sum-up about the cases with the particular horrors of the 'actions of neglect', and not just 'where kids died'. Don't get me wrong, it is *appalling* that anyone could forget or not care that they have children, but I am glad to hear you have a heart for the dogs that died too. i wonder how the baby killer reacted after finding out that Farmville is gone now
She be not too happy
I would say though that there are lot of games which are greatly frustrating for a reason or another, so there are games that could make someone with predisposition aggressive or more aggressive.
it's because competition is bullshit
@@LynnAgain83 It sounds as though you're loving parents to me. 😊

I’m baffled by this. Maybe because I am 58 years old. But if someone is quoting or getting crazy about a video game, I will try to learn about it.
2018 Florida, the kid shot and killed 2 people at a Madden tournament. Just heartbreaking stuff.
It can be a source of entertainment or a source of disgrace for some people.
all this for video games? not worth it

I'm so glad you agree that the number one take away from all of this is:
_Facebook games be Dumb_
The first story makes me think that we need mandatory testing for people to evaluate whether or not they're emotionally mature enough to raise a child.
Government/people would find a way to abuse and profit off it
Well Idk about letting the government having that much influence on what they deem as emotionally mature. Especially in something so detrimental to a babies future and soon thereafter one of us. Most people, even ones who study this can’t grasp this bc it’s just not that simple. Hell nawl. Plus half the people that advocate most gov mandated things literally say “facts over feelings” like it’s a mating call.
Or to play video games…
my mom was a drug addict who neglected us but I’m still happy to be alive. Just a thought.
My ex used to break her ps controllers.glad she never raged out like that.
