I have been in miniatures, off and on, for 40 years and I have always found two things to be true. Miniaturists are always happy to share ideas and skills. And no matter what your politics or religion race or sexual orientation, miniaturists can bond over our hobby.
Yes I agree Pat, it's interesting how this hobby brings everyone together!
How generous people can be. Very kind and thoughtful to include John Boy as well. Dina you are a very talented and kind person. Thanks Richard for your kindness and the appreciativeness you show all of your viewers. 🌷
Aren't some people so generous! We are very fortunate to have such lovely kind people in our "miniature family"! 🙏
Dina is definitely talented. Such a sweet person to make these and give them you.
Isn't she a lovely lady! So nice to know we have such creative folk in our "miniature family"! 🙏
I can't tell you how happy I feel when I see you have uploaded a new video. It's always a pleasure to watch and lovely to see John Boy pop in. Tracey 🥰
You are very kind Tracey, thank you for saying 🙏 and as always, I will keep them coming as much as possible! 😊
I'd rather believe the fireflies are fairies- it's more fun. We would catch one in a jar and then of course not put a lid on and let it go. But they are magical. Your gifts are so apt and also so diverse. You and John have wonderful houses and every item is bound to fit in somewhere. I like your giant dolls' house idea. Maybe have people send in a photo of their favourite mini room and make a collage. It might be massive, though, as your subscribers are many and more to come!
Hehehe well I secretly just believed they were fairies anyway, because it made it more special! 😂
And yes, I'll have to think of something that folk can participate in. That could be fun! 😊🙏
Thank you for sharing your lovely gifts with us love the story
You are so very welcome Iris 🙏
What a wonderful
kindness. Love it!
Yes there are such lovely folk in our "miniature family"! ❤️
She did a wonderful job on those candle sticks!
Yes, they will look amazing in their new homes, that's for sure!
Thank you Betty, that is very kind of you. I hope it inspires others to make them.
What amazing gifts to receive you lucky guys. Such talented kind and thoughtful people x
I know, we are very blessed with having such lovely folk in our "miniature family"! I'd feel lost if I couldn't chat to you all 😔❤️ xx
You are above all so inspirational to us all x
And it's so lovely to hear that what I am doing, is giving pleasure to somebody out there! 🙏 xx
Group hug!!! That would be amazing! 🫂 And aren't the fireflies beautiful? I love standing in the middle of a big cloud of them! When we were little, we used to catch them, put them in jars, and have flashlights. Of course my grandparents let them go as soon as we were asleep. They told us the fireflies had escaped during the night, lol. Anyway, great story, good to see both of you. Take care and get well! Hugs and pets to all of you. 🤗🤗🐈🐈
Yes it's lovely how youtube brings like-minded folks together 😊
It's funny, I've heard a few stories now of the fireflies being caught in jars by children, and then let go again. It's interesting to learn about something that was a thing that was done in another country. I wish we had them here, all we seem to get, is the two little dogs next door, yapping at each other most of the day! 😂😂😂
The person who sent you those wonderful items is my talented sister. She has done some amazing creative things in miniatures. I am so proud of her creativity. I love how you were so sweet with the way in which you spoke to her as you do all your viewers as if they are right there in your studio with you.
Awww bless you! 🙏 well it's so nice when I have a reason to speak to a particular person, because like you say, it feels like we're in the same room, which is the biggest reason I do these videos in the first place! And thank you for also being part of our "miniature family" along with your lovely kind sister. And yes, she absolutely has a talent for making such beautiful miniatures! ❤️🙏❤️
She is amazing!!!
@@suesmith7968 she most definitely is!
Thanks sis, your such a sweetie. By the way Richard, she is one that gave me the frisbee.
@deenafrayo oh I'm just LOVING all the way that youtube is bringing us closer together as a family should be! And John boy has just said THANKYOU SIS! he loves his Frisbee...but I am betting he tries to fly it before letting the kids have it in their room!!! 😂❤️
Wow, You guys all this lil gifts warms my heart, they are so detailed and beautiful. Wow Deena you are so talented, and have a very big heart and big love for my favorite duo. ❤ to you all. It's so nice to be here. Thanx guys.
Yes Deena is so very creative! Some folk are so good at what they do! It's lovely to know that there are such lovely folk like yourself, in our "miniature family"! Like we're all in one big room 😊❤️
The male cardinal is vivid red, while the female is camouflaged with brown and beige with some red accents. They are beautiful birds, we have them in Canada also, love seeing them. They mate for life.
They are beautiful looking birds! The same lady then sent me another card and this time it had an American Goldfinch (bright yellow). They look so colourful and quite tropical really 😊
Lol perfect out of the mouths of children. Love it show and tell .xxxxxx
I know! We thought it was hysterical, although the little boy couldn't see the problem! 😂
Very kind great stuff❤
She made y'all some lovely gifts!! The candlesticks are awesome and have given me some new ideas! In Texas and the rest of the South, we call those little fairies, Lightning Bugs. We would catch several in a jar and set them beside our beds at night to light up our rooms. We'd let them go the next morning. I can still see my children chasing them in the dark after all these years. Glad you got to experience them 🙂
Yes we were given such lovely miniatures to put in our houses, hopefully for many years to come!
And thank you for the lightning bug story, I think that would have been a great memory to have as a child 😊
Thank you Joni, I’m so happy the candlestick have inspired you.
Your unboxings are so much fun. Loved all of Dena's gifts to you and also the firefly story!
Yes, Deena is a talented, and very kind lady! 😊❤️
I love it all especially the shaving set. X
Yes, the shaving kit was tiny! I'm keeping it very safe until it can find the right home to live in 😊
Hello Richard I ser you both had another parcel. Lovely 🕯 candle sticks . Great work on those cute little swords. 🗡🗡. Like the skeleton 💀 crown. Love all your videos.
Hi Carol, yes it was so nice of the lady to make such lovely miniatures for us! Hopefully we will enjoy seeing them in our houses for years to come!
25 years ago, I was part of a group of dollhousers that met regularly--sort of like you, me, and 3+ thousand others, but in person--and we would have gift exchanges 3 or so times a year. I love the small mementos I have of those people, but I also really like how someone's idea/ingenuity/creation adds another tweak to the story I was telling in the dollhouse. Yours and JohnBoy's gifts are lovely! (and Dena, thank you for the idea of making standing candle holders!)
Yes that's a lovely idea when you meet like minded folk! We just recently had a visit from one of our "family" and her daughter, all the way from Canada. But I couldn't let her leave, before showing her a large box of items to choose what she wanted, to give a good home to! Plus, I recently went to a hall in a nearby town, to do a talk for a group of enthusiasts. And I took a large box with lots of miniatures in. And at the end of the talk, I took everything out of the box and told all the ladies to take what they wanted. It was so nice to see all the excitement between them! It just gives you a lovely feeling when you see other people being happy 😊
Sorry, Deena, for misspelling your name.
Thank you Julia, I really hope the candle holders inspire you and others. One of my other hobbies is making jewelry so I have a lot of beads and things, Since starting miniature making I now look at things and think what I could do with it to make something miniature. Thrift store jewelry is a great place to start. And not a problem about the name spelling, I’m just happy it was pronounced right
@@deenafrayo One of my favourite things about this past-time is the cross-over between our other hobbies and dollhousing. Another is the sharing of inspiration and tips. Thanks.
You and John got some great items. What a talented miniature maker that sent you the items. Love the firefly story. I have always liked to think they are secretly fairies like Tinker Bell. As always thanks for sharing😍
You are most welcome Liz 🙏 yes, we were so pleased to see all the lovely miniatures Deena had lovingly made for us! Hopefully we will be able to enjoy looking at them in our homes for years to come!
And you just reminded me, to remember to tell a "fairytale" in one of my videos! 😀
Thank you Liz for your sweet comment
Hi Richard, love your video, as usual, & I am so happy whenever I see there is a new one arrived!
I enjoy seeing you & John boy receive beautiful gifts, & so many of them handmade by talented & generous people. I’m sure they get as much pleasure in giving to you, as you get by receiving.
I adore my dollhouse hobby, but am not good at making intricate tiny little pieces, especially if super glue is involved !!! 😱 However, I can create rooms, decorate, re-arrange, paint & make beautiful furniture from plain pieces. It is such a fulfilling hobby & now because of you, we have a special place to share our passion with like minded people from all around the world! 💞
Lots of love, from a faraway land down under, but now connected by our love of miniatures, & of course the internet!!!! 😂
Lana xox 🇦🇺
I know what you mean Lana! It's so nice that we have youtube and the Internet to bring like-minded folk closer together! I would be lost if I had this passion, but no one to share it with!
And I have to say, it's not a problem at all, if you think you're not great at something. Because there is such a vast range of different skills, so will will always be good at something! 🙏😊
I love your “show and tell” story. What lovely gifts Dena created for you both… and so generous.
Well it gave the family a good laugh! And yes, we were so grateful to receive such lovely makes! 😊
Wow! Those are lovely! I especially love the 2 framed pieces with the art objects inside🤩❤
Thank you, yes I thought they were lovely, and will probably go in the gallery!
The framed pieces have a gold coin collection in one and a paper money collection in the other
@deenafrayo I think they look so original Deena! They will definitely be placed on a wall at some point 🙏😊
Very inspiring items from Dena😊 Thank-you for sharing with us. I truly love your videos and your stories! ❤
I'm glad you enjoy joyed watching, and thank you very much for your kind words. It makes what I do, worth doing! 🙏❤️
Oh my goodness, I love your stories. We don’t have fireflies where I live now but I’ve seen them. They are magical. We called them “lightening bugs”. I certainly understand him wanting to take you to show and tell. 😂😂😂😂
Yes, you should have seen the look on my face when I first saw them! I truly thought it was something magical 😂😂😂
Oh Rich what a lovely parcel and most of all your lovely story about fire flies. I’m a fairy person as well as a miniaturist and am so envious of the places in the world who have fire flies aren’t they lucky?
Can’t wait to see where all those adorable gifts end up. When I started my miniaturist dollhouse play I did feel a bit barmy (I’m 79) and have loved tiny things my whole life but feel so included and sane. I lived in my early life in Norfolk Castle acre and had no idea that in the 1920’s a cottage industry was set up by the local lady of the big house in West Acre making dollhouse furniture. Sooo sought after now and I’d give anything to own an original piece but attempt my own versions as it’s unlikely that I will ever come across a piece. Love to you both.
Yes it was so very nice to receive such love in the form of a parcel! We will definitely be placing the items in our houses.
And how interesting to hear what you said about the miniaturist back then. I think it would be lovely to see her work now!
I have to say, that the mystical fairy subject has always fascinated me also. And I must try and remember to tell a little story regarding these little beings in my next video!
What an amazing gift of miniatures from Deena, the candlesticks are lovely Rich, love your stories they always make me smile, and if we do have fireflies here and you ever see any then you’ll know what they are 🤣, tfs x Julie
Yes, Deena is obviously a very kind and loving person! We feel very very grateful 🙏 and if I ever see another firefly, I'm sure I'll still think it's something magical! 😂
Thank you Julie
Fabulous little things & so lovely to receive. Rich, your appreciation shines through😊 We have Glow worms in the UK, not widespread, though. Thank you for your American tales😅
Yes we were so grateful to receive such lovely gifts! And felt humble again, that someone spent the time to make and send these very well made miniatures ❤️ and I'm sure I'll think of other tales along the way! 😀
I love that you thought there were fairies!!🧚♀️ 🧚♂️ When my boys were young, I caught myself looking at the floor drain in my laundry room, and thinking, "That's where the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles come out!"
😂 ❤
See! It's all true! All these types of creatures we hear about ARE real!!! 😂❤️
😂that’s awesome. I love fireflies. We use to catch them in jars when we were kids! We don’t see them as much as we use to which is sad. But we do thoroughly enjoy them when they do come around. Never thought of them as fairies though. Lol. Thanks for sharing your story!
Well I'd never seen anything like them in my life before, but that's so "me" to turn the situation into a drama! 😂
@@RichMiniatures lol
Really amazing work by Dena and it really make me feel less lonely to be a part of this💕
Yes we both thought her work was amazing, and it gave me even more inspiration and that's always a good thing! And please, never feel lonely Mona, we are all thinking of each other in our "miniature family"! 🙏❤️
Yes I ment that you make us feel welcome and it feels like I belong 😊 so thank you for that 😊and for all inspiration 😊
@@monajakobsson9447 you most definitely belong in the "family" ❤️
Thank you it means a lot ❤
Thank you Mona, that is very kind of you to say
Cheers darling Richard your such a humble soul. Thank you Dena 💕💕💕 Richard I thank you for being you 💕💕💕
Thank you, I'm just really happy that I am able to work on my passion, and hopefully bring joy to other humans around the world! 🙏❤️
😊 I forgot about fireflies! Haven’t seen them since a kid but they were magical. I’d love to see them again! So mellow, some of my cousins would bottle them which would have killed me today 😩 Thanks for the video and bedtime story 😊
Yes, maybe the fireflies aren't around so much these days. But it makes me feel even happier that I got to see them 😊 like tiny floating light bulbs 💡 😂
I just learned this the other day, but if you have labels like that and want to remove them instead of trying to rip them off, take some alcohol on a paper towel. It will wipe the ink completely off. I haven’t tried it myself, but I’ve seen it in a video.😂😂😂
Ooh what a great idea! I never thought of that. But I'll definitely remember in the future, many thanks for the tip! 🙏
Its a lovely name and see your next video
Many thanks 🙏 😊
We call fire flies in the UK glow worms, although I haven't seen any since I was a child, you normally see them in June, July....
How lovely! It makes my heart happy to be part of such a l beautiful community of kind people. Your videos always make my day. Hugs to you and Johnboy, Georgie, & Nigel.
Yes exactly! It always makes my heart happy, when I hear from our community! It's such a warm, inviting place to be! ❤️
Rachael, hello. I see your comments on here a lot and exchange thoughts with you on Bentley house minis. It’s fun to see the same people on different channels
@@deenafrayo and really lovely to know that we are all watching and chatting with the same folks! Just like one huge room filled with happiness and love! 😊❤️
OhMan!!! That’s a lot of love coming your way!! So much 👁️🍬!!! And a little something for your plethora of projects!! A fine example of getting back what you put out into the universe!! Thanks for this little slice of time. ☮️💜
I'm sure there is a lot of truth in what you say! I've always believed in life, that the more kindness you put out there, the more kindness you receive! 😊❤️
Thanks again for your kind words
Hope you like all your goodies, it was fun watching you both open it. John got it right, the skeleton king has the sword. I put stuff in that you both could put in different houses if you like. I’m glad you finally got the package, but lesson learned. And yes, everything you said that I was probably saying, I was!
That was amazing to open such wonderful gifts Deena! And so funny how we all had the same ideas in mind, of how and where to use them 😊 we can't thank you enough my lovely, for just taking the time to send a little piece of "you" to live in our houses for years to come! 🙏❤️🙏❤️
Watching them open and display each piece was pure pleasure!!! I am completely delighted and impressed with your artistry!!!
@@suesmith7968thank you so much sue
What a creative and talented miniature maker she is! It's really wonderful to have interests like this that bring people together. Thank you and John so much for sharing the box opening!
Yes, it really is lovely that a hobby can bring such lovely folk together!
Thank you for your kind words
Such a wonderful thing for Deena to do! What an amazing treasure ❣️ loved the story 😅
I know! Aren't there just some lovely folk out there that just want to do something nice, just because they can! ❤️🙏
Just lovely 😻
Cardinals in America are like Robins here, they are messangers from our loved ones in spirit.
Wow really? They look so "tropical" to be as common place as our Robins...amazing!
Janet, I do apologise for that last comment that someone wrote in reaction to your own comment! They had also written some nasty comments on other folks comments. So I have reported and blocked them. So hopefully we won't be receiving any more harassment from the sad individual! 😏
Some day you have to make a miniature garden or glade and fill it with fireflies! Don’t forget to add a little child smiling in wonder. Now, go rest! Be good to yourself and guard your health. See you next time!
See, now that's yet another idea "seed" that's been planted (excuse the pun) in my mind! 😂
Yes I've been quite poorly with this cold as it turned into a chest infection. And then it's he'll to breathe because of being asthmatic! But all is getting better now, so thank you for caring! 🙏❤️
Your huge, communal dollhouse sounds like the Winchester Mystery House.
I've never heard of it, but it sounds like the perfect "get together"!
Back trouble is awful - I've had it bad for over a year now. It was mainly triggered by a fall (but it had been brewing up before then - the fall made it worse.)
Richard & John Boy - what lovely thoughtful gifts. Well deserved. Dena, thank you for your service to our Country. 😊 Richard, this past weekend, I bought a group of miniatures at an outdoor flea market. One thing that was included was a tall Queen Anne candle stand (what you put the shaving items upon near the end of the video) similar to the one Dena had made for you. However, mine was broken and missing two of its legs. I want to repair it. What would you recommend using to replace base with? I am new to miniatures. Thank you in advance for any suggestions! 😊 I remember seeking my first Firefly - Lighting Bug, it scared the heck out of me!! 😆 It lite up right in front of my face as I was walking down a path. We don’t have them on the West Coast. They are truly magical in my opinion. 😊
Yes exactly! What a wonderful thing to do, to serve your country! Not everyone can say that!
And I'm glad someone is with me on the firefly subject. I was mesmerised! 😂
To make the two feet of that stand, I would definitely just use a piece of wood to replace them. Just get a piece of soft wood the same depth as the width of a leg. Trace one of the fixed legs onto a piece of paper just roughly. Then cut that out and draw the shape onto the piece of wood. So basically you will have drawn a "side view" of a leg. Then cut out the shape a bit bigger than the shape drawn. Then by using a craft knife and some sand paper, go back and forth slowly shaping the wood nearer and nearer to the shape the same as the legs you still have. That sort of job is just a lovely little job that you would spend doing one quiet afternoon with a drink of choice! My kind of day! 😀
@inhale3384 I have another candle stand kit that is missing a leg, I would be happy to send it to you no charge
@@deenafrayo That would be so nice of you! How can I private message you?
@@RichMiniatures Thank you so much, Richard for your reply! Deena is going to send me a part. This channel is such a wonderful miniature family. ☺️
@inhale3384 you are most welcome 🙏 I'm really pleased that Deena was able to help. She's a lovely lady! And yes, this is a really lovely "miniature family" of like-minded folks 😊
