I baby sat my son and DIL's bratty kitten while they were in Japan. I made a log cabin quilt and she helped. I had everything all perfectly cut out and arranged on the dining table. She thought they'd look better on the floor, that little girl looked me in the eye and slid them all of the table. So I played 5000 piece pick up. Then I put the strips in a shoe box. She decided that box was perfect for a nap. 😴 Naughty little thing. No matter what I did she foiled my plans. I finally put the strips in my lap. She really did enjoy her sewing lessons. It took me about 6 times as long to make that quilt than it should have. 😂 I love her, naughty girl that she is.
One more thing, I had my log cabin die for a year before I used it, Yeah, I know. 😢 My blades come up on every pass through the Accuquilt. Can I try some super glue to secure the blades? The blades rock in their foam. If I press one side in the other side pops out. It's very time consuming to cut a quilt out with that die. I have a bunch more and this is the only one that's does this. It's all on the end where the smaller blades are located. Any suggestions?
I enjoyed your show today, Pam and Erica should always work together, they make a good team.

AccuQuilt should make tumblers with lids for those of us that won’t have drinks near our machines without one. I’d buy one.

4 years ago I bought an AccuQuilt Go, I have never had it out of thr box. It cost me about £400. along with several cutting blocks. Arthritis set in leaving me very disabled.

When lining straight grains on dies with label to your belly does that go into cutter first. 11:27

Using fqs which way do you lay the fabric on the die? I can find direction by the weave but I'd love some feedback😊

Hi Caryn! Using fat quarters, you still will need to have the lengthwise grain running along the lengthwise blades, but you will only be able to cut on one half of the die at a time - either Shapes 1-8 or Shapes 9-12, but since the lengthwise grain side of a fat quarter measures only 18", it's not long enough to cut both ends at the same time.

Would this make a good temperature quilt (maybe only 7 colored strips, so a smaller block)?

    • @accuquilt

      That's a great idea!

@@accuquilt I'm still working on the last quilt-along, but I'm thinking of making this as a temperature quilt, one quilt of 16 blocks per semester, for my college kid. I need to buy the 1.5" strip die for the Studio, but maybe over the summer I can get the fall semester blocks done for her freshman year. I may even get ambitious and do highs on one side, lows on the other (so I can use a neutral for one side of each log cabin), and do each 16-patch star as a QAYG, and use the same color chart and neutral (have to buy enough of the "high" and "low" side neutrals!) for 4 years, and put together a huge quilt to give to her at graduation! I think with 7 strips (for days of the week) I'd end up with 7" blocks? So 28" square stars (plus sashing between each star), 2 rows (per academic year), 4 columns, 56" x 112" long plus sashing and borders would make a full or queen size at graduation?
