Also, the number of decked-out Harleys in northern Thailand is amazing. I must have seen a dozen in one afternoon about 50 km outside of Chinag Mai. Just out in the rural villages, too.

I've seen tons of Good Cats in Bangkok and Chiang Mai and one person said his was $28k USD. We caught a Ranger Raptor from Grab this evening after dinner. It was much nicer than I expected. And I think the high-end Toyota vans are the way to go.

Some of the Chinese cars are getting quite good. Compared to what a Chinese car was 10-20 years ago, it's amazing how they have changed. It is getting to the point now where the only advantage I can see over a western / Japanese brand is the trust of the brand. Everyone will need to up their game to keep up or just hope that governments tax them out of markets.... Great video as always!

We were in Bangkok and were going to go but what we could see on the website was just new cars. I wish they would have more details of this event so we could of made the trip from Soi 11 would of been a good addition to our holiday glad you covered it and next year we will be there and under up along with the Pattaya Bali Hai show.

My last trip to Thailand I was required to get travelers insurance and I went with Axa and wouldn't you know I had an accident and required emergency medical and follow up treatment. Upon returning I put in my claim and the supporting documents and within days was reimbursed I would not hesitate to use them again.

I really appreciate that, as a proper gearhead, you don't automatically dismiss all EVs as shit, like so many others do. As you said, they are a good fit for a daily driver, and even on the cheaper models, that instant torque is always a lot of fun :D

I'm surprised the pickup truck scene in Thailand hadn't taken off yet. Pickups example Jeep Rubicon, Ford Ranger (especially Ford Ranger because it's made) , Chev and Hilux for camping 4wding

$1200-1500 USD for a driver in Bangkok? Wow that's way more than I thought!!! In Lao it's 6,000-10,000 baht per month to hire a private driver. Nice one for not putting down the EV's, I used to hate them but slowly got bought around and in the end bought a BYD E2 for a daily driver and I'm super happy with it. Nice video 🙂.
BYD made the EV taxis in Shenzhen which were really really good 12 years ago.

the Genesis GV60 cuv has a boost button. it's like a nitrous button in a video game. as long as the battery has charge you can push the button as much as you want. it's awd and can be adjusted all the way to rwd on the fly

Actually i liked the Traction Avant Citroen in the AXA booth in the very beginning. i'd repaint that and change it to rear wheel drive and put my modified 2500cc Triumph Straight 6 into it. Sleeper... Man, you walked straight past the Triumph Motorcycle booth without stopping to have a look, sad day bro,, sad day ,lmao.
I went to this car show when i was in country a few weeks ago... That modified area wasn't quite there yet. It was full of aftermarket vendors instead. :( Though i did see the modified to hell and back Mercedes with the CB logo... I was even wearing my quarter million subs CB Media shirt hoping to run into someone. Missed that apparently.

Interesting, I've been here in Chainat since the 9th, total guy nut, on the roads at least half the day everyday. I've seen a few Havels, and MGs. Toyota, Honda, Isuzu, Nissan, and Mitsubishi seem to rule the roads as far as I can tell 🤔

Chad, I am surprised at your practical vehicle choice. What are your thoughts on Hyundai overall. I think most US people see it as a disposable vehicle. The EV intrigues me, but I’m leery on reliability.
They have came a long long long way! For a daily driver, they are a better choice than a couple Japanese brands these days….which is a crazy thing to say but facts.
I DRIVE BYD!
i am german. living in china.
got the BYD tang DM which means hybrid. 3 electric motors front and rear combined with 2.0L turbo and total system power around 700HP now plus 1000Nm of torque.
its a huge SUV with 7 seats and i love this thing. driving it for 4 years now and it kicks a$$ same as day 1.
around 4.1 sec from 0-100km/h i dont need to be shamed around porsche and other really fast cars here.
i can drive around 100km pure electric in silence. or turn on the 2.0T for traveling. i can take my whole family in it. i can drive around in my city pure EV mode whole day and charge it in my garage at night in 2-3 hours. it comes with oversized german brembo brakes, huge electric rotating multimedia screen where i can watch movies with 5.1 surround. overall its a very good deal.
say about BYD what you want but the higher class hybrid cars they made with the AUDI designer are really cool.
yes the smaller and cheap cars they have are "meeeh, mediocre at most"
5 years ago i would never even imagine to buy one of those because the company was known to build really bad cars in their beginning. after hanging upside down in the engine bay, under and over the car for solid 2 months i decided to buy one new. best decision in my life.
