Over a decade of watching UA-cam every day, and I’ve never felt as connected to a person or a channel before. You are on to something, keep doing you Danny!
man! That made me so happy. its all i want out of this. thank you so much!
Totally agree with that :).
Same!
I couldn't agree more. For the longest time I only wanted to post my videos privately. This makes me feel like it's okay to suck...because eventually I'll get better.
i youtube literally every day for hours at a time, but never have i come across someone that i felt the same way about as you. i completely agree that he's on to something. but i think it's just the fact that he's a very genuine, caring and authentic person. keep it up danny. rooting for you brother.
I’ve been making talking head videos for about 7 months, less than 15 videos and I get really nervous before each one. It takes me a pile of bloopers of the opening intros or whatever to get into my stride.
Really enjoyed this video, listening to your experiences and it was kinda nice to hear that you still get nervous. Your videos are so polished and well done it would be hard to think that was the case. Thanks for taking the time to share your tips and experiences 👍
What are your gears
Dude when you said you couldn't speak English very well and that you get nervous, I was surprised. The first video of yours that I saw, I immediately subscribed because of the way you delivered the information you were giving. You do a great job with speaking and as I said before, you have a soothing voice, so don't sell yourself short. I know we're all our biggest critics ourselves but you're doing an amazing job. Love your channel, bro!
Hey man! I appreciate you so much dude. haha maybe its insecurity for sure. thank you!!
The line by line in the notes is exactly what I do & I make it Bullet points so I can check off each talking point moving down until the videos done. I tried the freestyle approach & that ended up disastrous lol. Great informative video!! Glad to see others with similar approaches to these awkward talking head videos. 👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽
lol i use to try to freestyle too and the editing was a nightmare. thanks bro!
Drug Abuse Resistance Education👍 Former D.A.R.E. instructor here (I'll never forget the day I had to be in the DAREn the Lion mascot costume for 6 D.A.R.E graduations in July... I almost passed out)... All that just to say, thanks for sharing your set up...and nervous or not, you do a great job every time. Something to be said for sincerity. Thanks!
Haha thank you for knowing that. I actually full heartedly support the DARE program. Big non drug guy here
Danny Gevirtz same here! Never tried them, never will.
Man. 20 episodes into my series on my channel, and I’m learning a LOT. This video made a huge impact on me. You’re an inspiration to me bro! Thank you!
Dude, you're like modern-day Mister Rogers. Thank you for being who you are and mad love to your parents for raising you however they did🤘👍🤙
I appreciate your honesty about feeling nervous in front of the camera, that's something that one likes to touch on. Learning how to laugh and have compassion on yourself is actually a huge deal.
4:41 Thank you for mentioning settings for darker skin! Many people who make these videos and tutorials fail to realize (or care) that suggested settings may not work for some viewers who have different skin tones from what are featured in the videos. You get DOUBLE likes for even acknowledging this.
Of course man! Thank you!!!
Dang! You set all that up for each video. I finally got to a point where I'm just leaving a permanent setup to save time. I know its not an option for everyone but I was making myself crazy trying to set everything up each time I filmed. Great behind the scenes look though...I always enjoy seeing what others are doing. Good insight...thx for sharing!
Thanks sir! Haha yeah I mean I’m not gonna leave it in the living room
Most cinematic youtube channel Ive ever seen, fantastic stuff Danny
Aw dude thank you so much! Ive seen a bunch of your videos in the past. Really means a ton!
Ok just saying your channel is AMAZING!! I wanted a video to improve my setup and your video has helped so much. Subscribed
This was the best UA-cam setup breakdown I've ever watched. It's kind of shocking how close my current setup is with the backdrop, lighting, etc, but I just can't get through the awkwardness to find the finish line. ha. Thanks for powering through and giving it to the UA-cams! It definitely helped me! Cheers!
You actually hit the right chord for so many people. A lot of us who are doing the same thing actually felt a lot less awkward now after seeing that creators like you feel the same way. Thanks for that ☺
Absolutely man! Thanks so much!
Sansa has it all figured out! Meanwhile, as soon as I break out the equipment my dog immediately leaves the room like "No Paparazzi" The paper is a great idea to mix up the environment. Thanks for sharing.
haha she thinks i set that out for her every time. thanks bro!
Haha, I love the part where you said we should be able to look back on old videos and say they are awful. Makes too much sense 😂 And luckily I can do that, and hope in 1 year I can do that again.
Haha absolutely dude
You're such a good person. It's so hard to find someone who's honest and helpful for the audience. You know showing that you're a normal person too and it is ok to feel nervous. Thanks for this video Danny. ❤️
That means a ton to me! Thank you so much!!!
Danny like you mentioned in your thank you video to Matt D'Avella I wanted to thank you for your work. I'm starting a youtube channel for my business as well and your channel has been my go to for so much of our initial ideas. Watching this one now so that I can get a small at home studio setup! Thanks!!!
That makes me so happy man. Thank you!
I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one who has difficulties going through the script while filming myself. I usually have to shoot for 15 minutes just to get a 5 minutes final edit, and there are cuts every two sentences. Dry mouth, sweating and unintelligible words are part of every single video. And as you said, this is one aspect that doesn't get better with time. I guess a prompter would help, need to try that out.
Thank you for posting this video and sharing your settings. It's always helpful to see how professionals do their setup.
Of course! Thank you!
I'm so glad your channel popped up in my recommendations! this video was just the kick I needed to put my first video out there. Thanks, Danny!
Me too! Thanks so much Daniel!
Thanks for telling me how sweaty and nervous you are.. Got all my gear set up the image looked fantastic. I stared into the camera and said.. oh shit... now what. Then i started sweating. So thanks for normalizing the nervousness
Haha of course man. It’s such an unnatural thing. Thank you!
But Danny how do I get your personality! haha, i kid. I grabbed Ultramarine savage last week. Doing an entire studio rebuild right now, bunch of wall mounted lights computers and mics, custom gear closet, black walnut and pipe desk.. 18-35 is magical, been using it for years, it lives on my gh5. Cheers! Love your setup.
thank Tommy! That studio is going to be beautiful. appreciate you brotha!
Can I just say, I absolutely love the use of sound effects to break up topics! Really insightful and useful BTS, especially light settings and the fact you're using something as basic as a backdrop really makes your videos pop.
dude thank you! Haha some nerd just told me I was using sound effects so wrong on this video like he knows anything. Thanks again Chris!
@@DannyGevirtz Screw that guy. There is no right way to use sound effects. I love it and it's unique, far better than cinematic b-roll or a random cut.
Another fantastic video! Really enjoyed it. Absolutely love that you say 'love you' as the outro. Such a lovely touch!
Haha I mean it every time. Thanks so much man!
@@DannyGevirtz And I totally believe it and it properly makes me smile each time :D Such a legend man
Hey Danny, I can't tell you how valuable this video is. I've watched it 3 times already!
This is like a 1,000 youtube tutorials condensed into a few minutes... And I've been a big fan of your color scheme and simplicity, so this is a video I'll be looking back at again and again!
Thank you!
So happy to hear that brotha! Thanks so much!
Great video man! Love the pup laying there haha
thanks dude lol ill let her know!!!
Dude! You are so intentional, and so sincere! I really like your videos and your films!! 🤙🏽
I appreciate that brotha! Thank you!
I've been doubting myself a lot just because I can't talk to the camera comfortably but I'm glad you reminded us that it's normal to be camera nervous and the solution is just to prep more! Thanks Danny!
Of course! Thanks so much!
You make it look everything so easy and I believe I will never get that video quality :(
I'm so happy I found you today on my feed. Nice guy, nice dog.
Thanks so much man. Im glad you found me too
Clear, no bs, perfect explanation. Excellent!
For sure dude! Thanks so much!
what I love about the set up, is the minimalistic look!!
thanks so mcuh! glad you liked it!!!
Just don't know what to say. Where ever I just struggle either feel down I still ending up at your chanel. Right now covid got down almost all of my works so I'm trying to get a full time job as a graphic designer/filmmaker. But in the mean time having all the dark thoughts if it was the right choice to make when I decided after high school to study photography... Man you and your words. I don't know what you are doing but your words are feeling so honest I can even describe. Thats what all the people need and as I read the comments I'm not the only one here saying that. Hope you have a good day and that the word can find back to its balance (if thats possible)
Cheerey from Hungary 🇭🇺
Bro I have everything written on my phone and I still fuck up lol I have a bad memory when it comes to reading...I know where you come from.. keep killing it man. Enjoy your content
haha bro i feel you so much. Glad you can rrelate and appreciate that man!
dude the courage and honesty that you put into this video, I think, can only be appreciated by someone who just spent 8 hours trying to get a half ass video done and uploaded so thank you for taking the time to produce this and for the bravery to upload even your "weakest" moments like facial exercises and such. Totally cool and made me feel way better about feeling less than while producing content today.
This is the most honest, candid and genuine look into the behind the scene setup. Thanks a lot for the video and really appreciate the knowledge and the information you gave towards the end.
Glad to hear that! Thanks so much man!
Found your channel this morning. First watched your "Formal apology to Matt D'Avella" video and now binging through your content. This video specifically spoke to my heart. Great content. Hope to see more of you! 📽💯
Glad you found it man thanks so much!
You said you don’t speak well, but you are very well spoken, calm, you speak with conviction.
Thanks again man. I really appreciate that!
It really takes a lot to say all these with complete honesty with a million dollar smile on your face. Kudos man!
And great tutorial-ish video man. 🔥
Of course brotha! Thanks so much!
I just found your Chancel a couple of days ago and i have to say i love every video so far. Incredible how nice you are in the way you speak and explain. I hope when i start my chanel soon, i can be nearly as connecting. Well done! Best from Berlin.
Brilliant video Danny - you're not the only one who sweats through your presentations. I too am a UA-camr and I do long-ish videos where I read 1700-word packages into a prompter (previous career in radio and TV in Australia). If I do two packages in a row I can count on two things: A) saturated shirt, and B) shattered voice. So, you're definitely not alone there. (Although, being a bit older than you, I don't get nervous any more - going live on radio and TV cured me of that.) Presenting is hard work. You do a good job - you're very genuine.
Haha glad I’m not alone thanks sir!
@@DannyGevirtz Check out John's channel - he's awesome. I keep telling him he should stand for Prime MInister of Australia - he is on a mission to make the world less shit. Not for the easily offended though...
I slept for a while, and now back to binge-ing on your stuff. These are so good and inspiring! So clear and relatable. Can't wait to see more!
Hahah thanks Justin!
Hey man, just wanted to say, this is really helpful. Your finished product is honestly pretty intimidating to me (your quality is so good) so to get a glimpse into the normality of your process really inspires me. Thank you
For sure man! And like i said you dont need to start here. no one does! im sure a year from now ill hate this look too haha
I bought that LED light wand when I saw you recommend it in one of your early videos and it was the best thing I ever bought. I use it ALL the time to get nice neon type photos! I've really missed tuning into your videos every week. Glad to be back in this comment section! I love that your studio set up is basically DIY sorcery too haha!
Lolol i just make do in here. haha i wasnt lying that light is so great. thanks brotha!
Honestly. I'm playing all your videos in the background while designing the title for my new video. Keep up the great work mate
You're so genuine man! You have become one of my favorite UA-camrs without a doubt. Keep 'em coming!
That makes me so happy to hear brotha. Thank you!
That line by line line got super meta when you were reading from your phone! As always, well done pal!
Lmao!! Thanks homie! Appreciate you coming through every week
Such a genuine person and very Authentic
"you don't want to look back at your first video and say that looked good" love that Danny. Totally the vibe I take away from this video
Thanks so much Andrew!
thank you so much Danny!!! I've watched all of your videos and they all are of best quality because of the amazing personality in front of the camera!!!!
Aw man thanks so much! That means the world to me!
always love your honesty in your films.
Thanks so much Pat!
Your video’s are so inspiring! Thank you for giving us a view ‘behind the scenes’. I haven’t quite plucked up the courage to make my first proper UA-cam video yet, but each time I watch one of your videos, I get a little bit closer...
That makes me so happy man. Thank you!!
Such a genuine person and I love the Authenticity
Thanks so much Sagara!!
Honestly I'm just a new subscriber but I love how you inspire me with your honesty. I hope you keep this up!
Absolutely dude! Thanks so much! Appreciate you
i just discovered your channel and now i'm binge watching lol. your videos are really informative and easy to understand for a newbie like me. the production value, the authencity, everything top notch! please keep up the good work!
That makes me so happy! Thank you!!!!
Love the video and the humbleness! It can seem so intimidating when your in front of the camera or doing whatever unfamiliar activity, and you don't know what to do and everybody else seems to do it perfectly easily!
thanks Jason! haha dude im sure most people struggle through it. youre def not alone
Agree completely in regards to reading lines from a script, more than one or two and everything goes a little sideways. Love your videos and the BTS of your setup and the dog is super cute :)
Haha thanks so much!!
Your channel is getting better and better! I remedier watching you when you had like 2k subs, you definetely have good vids then, but they’re way better now!
hahah thanks man! The vids are def more me now than they were then!
Danny, man, youre videos are always amazing. We love seeing the transparency. Makes it so real and connect to you easier
Great to see how much effort you are putting into to make a single video! And also happy to see that you are getting more subscribers every video by video, keep up the grear work man!!
Of course man!! Thank you so much!
So true about being nervous and sweaty, doesn't go away. Man I get nervous even doing VO haha !!
Hahaha you’re not alone dude
Me too... Lol
Thanks Danny! You're a delight. It's so nice to get to learn about this stuff from somebody who's willing to be so real and kind. Thanks dude!
Thank you so much!!
Dude you're so genuine and relatable. Thanks for making me feel normal lol. Definitely can't deliver multiple lines and need to change my shirt after recording haha.
haha absolutely man. Thank you so much!
This is such a great video. I love that you give settings and placements and being open about still being nervous because I really struggle with being on camera and you truly make me believe I can be on camera. Thank you. I love you
Glad it was helpful Kevin! Love you brotha
Dude, I’m a big fan of your work. Thank you for your honesty and openness. And thank you for the complete breakdown of your setup and just going over everything. It’s cool to have content like yours out there.
of course dude! Thank you so much man!
I believe at some point I've asked about this setup breakdown (and plenty others I assume) because I love the feel that you share with your videos so: THANK YOU good sir.
Haha of course man! Gotta give the people what they want. Thanks!
Awesome video Danny, so great to see behind the scenes and the work you put into setting it up each time you want to do a video, eventually you'll have your own studio or warehouse and then you'll just go in and film. It is amazing how we make do with what we have and the area we have to make things work, sure its can be a pain at times but it still works so well.:) Zanza? is a great dog and being at your feet is just pure love in itself. I understand the sweatiness happening but it will eventually go away, you connect with the people as does your channel, you sound great and natural, your you and with your own style, theres nothing better than that. Nervousness is a bitch but mate you've got this you're nailing them. Love you and your work Danny, take care.
Absolutely man!! Hahah one can only dream of the big studio. If that happens you’re welcome to come to the studio and use it whenever haha
@@DannyGevirtz LOL Youll get it. Im a believer that if you really want something so much it will happen. :)
Man I love all of your videos - always such a clean cut and the compositions are on point. Content itself is great too obviously. Keep going, can't wait to observe your channel continue to grow!
Much appreciated brotha! thanks so much!
Thanks for sharing. I 'm still forgetting everything that planed to say and wrote to the script as soon as hit record button. Glad to hear that I'm not only one who feels awkward on front of the camera :)
Haha you’re not alone! Thanks man!
Brooo this is really really helpful, encouraging and motivating! keep it up man. Great set-up
Appreciate it bro!!! Thanks so much!
that light wand is a favorite piece of kit of mine also. Simple, small and versatile.
haha I had no idea you followed the channel man. Cool to see you here!
Danny Gevirtz actually just found you the other day. So I’m a new subscriber but an old friend.
yo my mom says "love you too" btw.. she said it out loud. I didn't realize she was watching it behind me the whole time lmao. Awesome video dude👍
Man you are going to be a UA-cam star 🌟.
Just keep doing what you're doing.
haha hopefully one day man! if that happens we will get on a video chat and hang and talk about this comment
I 1000% relate to the nervousness before filming. Just started to write my scripts out more in depth and it definitely helps! Great to see your process man!
Glad this hit home for you man! Thank you!
This was awesome, great video, got some cool ideas for my own small scale setup thank you!
Thanks for the tips man! Sansa got you the subscribe, just kidding! Great information presented very well! As a creator in a completely different niche I am always looking to people like you to help me improve.
Great timing. Planning on starting up my own channel soon. Thanks Danny
awesome dude! Thanks and goodluck!
Her amazing coats contrasting that blue fleece! great team! Super tips
Haha she’s beautiful
@@DannyGevirtz Undeniably! :D
Watching your content gives me some kind of peace. Love it!
That makes me so happy to hear. thank you!
Sansa, has my heart 😍. Also we love to see the progression in production quality 💯 lol i'm glad i'm not the only one who gets all sweaty recording talking heads 😂😅
Hahaha I’m so happy you love Sansa. Thank you!
You’re an awesome guy; thank you for sharing this info. Enhances our confidence to take the first step into the world of a UA-cam channel.
Absolutely man! Thank you!!
Great video, cool socks, and I will probably never order seamless paper online again. A couple years back I bought my first roll on Amazon. It had gotten tweaked during shipment and put creases in my seamless back drop. I returned it, researched it and found a local camera store that had what I wanted for the same price minus shipping. The next 2 rolls I bought I bought from them.
Haha dang that’s awful. Luckily mine was alright
I’ve always wondered what your lighting setup was like because it was ALWAYS looking buttery smooth. I have also always debated should I go with a backdrop or should I just film in front of a clothing rack and my sneaker rack, but I don’t see why I couldn’t switch back and forth. Appreciate you making this video Danny!
Haha thank you bro! Yeah man i just decided to stick with it so i didnt have to think anymore
Never felt like you couldnt do more lines at a time! Thanks for sharing your process! I feel completely normal all of a sudden!
haha thanks Justin!!
Your C-Stand link is also your Rode mic link! Also great vid, thorough and informative. Keep doing you Danny!
I'm about 2 years late, but this is so helpful and encouraging. Thanks so much for sharing.
Another amazing video! A great look in to the behind the scenes. And you saying how awkward you feel makes me feel a bit better about feeling nervous to start a channel 😅
Sansa (hope I spelt this right) is honestly the cutest!
Love your content man 🤙🏻
Haha oh man dude it never gets not awkward for me. Thanks man!
How are u so relateable bro. I too cannot talk without a script.
Your channel is so helpful Danny. And you should know you have got a fan here in Pakistan.
Hahaha it’s so hard man. Thanks so much!
Minute 6:47-7:33 made me feel a lot better. I always skew up so many time it is driving my nuts 😃 great content!
Love it bro! I feel the same way with this UA-cam stuff so thanks for being candid!
Also bought that yongnuo light this week. Excited for it!
Cheers bud!
Right on man! Thanks so much!
You've just become my favourite UA-camr.
that is an honor! Thank you!!
Wow, what you said about nervousness and speaking English, resonated with me. I find it hard sometimes to keep repeating things over and over and it brings me down sometimes. It's great to hear that's normal :)
haha thank you!
Ah as always I come away from your videos knowing so much more, loved the detail you go into - especially how you put up the backdrop on your own aha! just awesome :)
Amazing to hear man! Thank you!
Thanks for going through this entire setup to make videos for us! You make it look easy, and it's not!
haha for sure man! Thank you!!!
Love these behind the scenes!
Glad to hear it thanks man!!
This is such a great video! an amazing insight! by far the best I have seen on UA-cam. Great work!!!
dude i LOVE your edits. keep em coming!
Glad you like them man! thank you!!!
Have you heard of the parrot teleprompter? It uses your phone and just attaches to the front of the lens, you might find it really helpful and it’s super affordable. You can also get an app that scrolls as it hears you say the words
Yungnuo light for the win dude! ahaha love this.
haha its so great. thanks bro!
Thanks for the breakdown man! I've always like the softness of your light, so in my opinion you do a good job of that (diffusion + Canon = great stuff)
thanks so much Robert!
