I went through the same problem with the belt. At first they replaced both turbos because they found oil in turbos, still have the squeaking noise after I picked it up. Then they replaced the belt, noise went away for 3 months and came back so I took it in the dealer again and they replaced the spring pulley tensioner and the belt again, no more squeaking after almost half year now.
KayDro Technologies Great to hear that!!! But if the squeaking noise come back again then for sure its the tensioner. I had to push really hard on the dealer to get the tensioner replaced and also the AC compressor realignment while they’re at it because they kept saying that they checked both of them and they are in good working conditions.
Remember. Unless the service department can show you or some how prove that's what needed to be replaced, they rob the owners for money on service and or car manufacturers for warranty work. That's how stealer ships make there money. Can you imagine how many parts get replaced on cars through stealer ships that realy didn't need to be replaced? Don't be fooled that's the main reason some cars get a bad rep for being unrealible. If at all possible, do your own work and diagnosis. Best way to save your money.
I have the 2017 Q50 RS 400 and when you mentioned the original owner complained about the steering I also had problems. Out of nowhere the car would want to pull to the right in such a manner if let go of the steering wheel the car would run off the road. I had in in the dealership 5 times and they could not replicate it. I finally got a couple videos of it while I was driving and that got their attention , but they still could not duplicate it. After getting the car back for the 5th time and over 5 total weeks in the shop it happened the very next morning. I called the infiniti dealer and told them I'm coming in and too have a tech meet me on the street as I did not want to turn the car off. He got in and the car did it and he was shocked. I never wanted out of the car just for it to be fixed. They ended up giving be a brand new one per my request and with my new one there has been no trouble. There are several videos out there with this model doing it, so beware.
The erratic steering complaint by the original owner could have been the car putting the DAS into protective mode. If the DAS senses over load or too much heat then it will deactivate itself to protect the electric motors. When it deactivates a clutch on the steering column reconnects the column so you have manual steering, if the steering is turned when this happens the reconnected column will not be in its normal position, but at whatever steering angle you were at when it connected so the steering will seem very bizarre. Just stop the car, turn it off and restart. The DAS will reset and its perfectly fine. driving the car slowly with the wheel cranked off hard can cause the DAS to go into protective mode.
JUst hope the AC expansion valve doesnt go out. The $10-30 part will cost upwards to $1200-1800 to repair. It could go upwards to almost 3k if it breaks your compressor also.
I bought my 2015 Q50 on 12/23/17 lol.. Even though my Q is a modified 3.7 RWD making just north of 400 HP (crank), I watched the whole video and subscribed. Best of luck with your Q! No issues other than scheduled maintenance with mine, knock on wood.
Very good video and breakdown. That was super risky to buy it but seems like God wanted to bless you with something nice. I’m looking at a Q50 myself as my next car. I consider some 2015 3.7 models in my local area, but if they’re a no go, at least I know the VR30 is still a good alternative.
Question from your expanded knowledge with this car and the infiniti brand. I got the 2019 Q50S 3.0T. I knew there was a 400hp version but with that cars new payment it was going to be out of my mental budget. Ok, question now...i want to do a the Ecutek tune. I'm in Dallas were there is a high performance ecutek specific tuner shop that tunes and modifies pretty much 1200-2000 hp GTR's. I dropped in and chatted with manager about tuning my car. They are really excited about getting more customer with Q50's because of the possibilities with this car. They also mod a lot of 350Z's but feel the VR30 turbo motor is way way superior platform to mod verses cost. There suggestion to me was have them to dyno tune my car on the spot and for go purchasing the ecutek bluetooth dongle because the car would be perfect on delivery. No need to datalog/troubleshoot and save me $600.00. If i encountered a prob or needed an update the shop is 5 miles from me. I specifically asked the manager what psi would they be pushing my turbo to and his reply was no more then the car 18psi effeciency. With their expansive history tuning high caliber GTRs and nissan vehicles this gives me the idea that i can trust their tuners judgement to provide my car with the best tuning and to keep the car's reliability. I've tuned another Turbo car The Ford ST and wasnt really worried about warranty cancellation because i wasnt pushing the car beyond its stress points. If i needed to take it into Ford for watranty repair (happened plenty of times related to non powertrain issue and one ecu tsb) but i myself could install and uninstall the tune, Cobb Accessport V3 tuner. With you experience is there much i should be concerned about moving forward with this decission? Power would likely be 15-25hp more then factory Red Sport car on 93 octane.
I would at minimum do a heat exchanger upgrade and down pipes before you get tuned. Yes and the fact that they are only going to 18 psi is a great sign of there knowledge of the platform.
@@KayDroTechnologies forsure a update to the heat exchanger but is the tuning option likely to increase to issue since this is not factory. I definity would skip adding power if my car would become unreliable. Do you still need the bigger heat exchanger if the adding of power is just casual use. @@GettingthruLife well once you tune any car... you will decrease reliability. A conservative 18 psi tune should be safe, but every engine is different. Upgrading the stock heat exchanger is definitely recommended for a stock car... and basically required if you are tuning the car. The stock heat exchanger is just good enough with the stock tune... but once you add more power with ecutek the stock heat exchanger is going to hold your power potential back.
Hey man. I'm interested in the Q50 RS400, but I'm not sure which one to opt for; 2016/2017 or 2018+ year? Aside from the exterior differences, is there a reason to get one over another? 2016 is $32k w/22,000 miles and 2018 is $36k w/20,000 miles. Both are CPO, fully loaded.
