Ex Q50 Hybrid owner, current Q60 RS owner. Both with DAS. I agree with everything you say. You are the first UA-camr who seems to actually know what he is talking about. Love it! TBF, if you wait for the steering to go light to find the limit of grip, you probably are too late to adjust. The best technique is to keep adjusting the steering through the turn to see if you are near the limit, you will probably know that you are approaching or on the limit much sooner with this constant testing of the slip angle.
One of the other important factors that many folks fail to notice was the DAS connection to autonomous driving, it paves the way for the self-driving car in the future. Nissan/Infiniti is a pioneer in developing autonomous driving in Japan, they are way ahead of many other manufacturers in this area.
Wow a reviewer who actually likes DAS. What a rebel. Most automotive journalists slam this system because of its lack of feel for the road. The problem is that they are hammering their review cars around a race track at speeds that 99.9% of car owners will never ever do. Here we have a guy who is that 0.1% who track drives his car and he likes it. I've had my 2017 Redsport for a year and a half now and your comments are bang on perfect. Finally a real review! I was very hesitant about DAS because of what I read before buying, but I love it, it is the quickest, sharpest easiest driving experience I've had. And on long drives what a pleasant relief. No fatigue. Infiniti knocked it out of the park on this. DAS is fantastic. I would never willing go back to non DAS. Keep up the great work KayDro
Agree on your point about the need for a ‘blind test’ test drive for folks. I think the perception of DAS is misguided from people’s fear of not knowing what the difference is and not having used it. I own an ‘03 G35 and was interested in DAS the minute NISSAN publicly announced its development. I recently test drove a ‘19 Q60, fan of it as well and DAS. Great stuff
Thanks for Posting this info...… I am in the planning stages of purchasing a Q60 Red sport without DAS...but still doing research on DAS... So far everything on the internet states don't purchase the car with DAS.
This is a great review! My wife if going to buy the 2019 QX50 and I was worried about all the negative DAS reviews. This really helps sum up the reality of it. Doesn't sound like the average driver needs to worry.
Good points DAS now has advantages. I don't have it. Not a big deal as I like the non-DAS on my Q50. But do wish I had ALC and ACC. Apparently from my friends who have the latest DAS it's pretty good. Having a red tape at 12:00 has saved me in a skid at high speed, by preventing over steering. Also, setting a looser stearing ratio on long highway trips is a real bonus. However having the same ratio all the time does help with muscle memory. So in all situations the steering is the same. That's a good thing. IMHO. On the track I like non DAS and I am glad I have non DAS because of the feel of the road. Granted you can set up DAS to be a consistant ratio. 🤔
Thanks. DAS is the future... the third generation will probably be even better. Everyone that drives my car never realized its steer by wire until I tell them.
Im assuming my car has the DAS. Im really impressed with your video and knowledge. My car is the 2019 redsport but has never drove straight its constantly drifting to the right was knocking out my alignment every week until i replaced the knuckle and lower control arm. Now it stays aligned but the tires say something different. Factory warranty wont fix it do you have any ideas of what the problem is?

Maybe you know anything i posted in few fb groups, after i wash the car DAS turns off, steering goes to manual after a while i guess it dries out or i dont know it turns back on. When its offline it makes a sounf near the brake fluid reservoir... drain holes from underneath cloged up? Should i wash it out from underneath? Should i dissamble the front part of car and check wires for DAS if they have any problems?

Thanks man... yeah you have to look at the intended purpose of a technology and then review it based on that.

Thanks for posting this. Really appreciate hearing from someone who tried the first gen and was willing to give the second gen a serious chance!

@@KayDroTechnologies I'm on it thanks! And you earned a subscriber peace!
Question, how would i tell if my car has DAS or not? Do the Q50/60 only come with DAS or is there another option and if so what?
Physically you can see a servo motor next to each tire rod... in the Infiniti drive mode selector you will have an option to select the "response".
@@KayDroTechnologies you mean like snow, eco, sport?
Would you avoid 2015 q50 with DAS being the first version? Going to test drive one soon.
Yep I would... 2016 and up for DAS
What years was the 2nd gen DAS system implemented in the Q50/Q60?
2016+
The only thing that's putting me off buying a DAS car is that it sounds very expensive to fix if it breaks!
Probably is... but I'm 55k miles in and no issues.
