- "Secrets in the Snow" is one of many mystery stories written by J. Jefferson Farjeon (1883-1955), this one first appearing in the collection "Best Stories of the Underworld" published in 1942.
In the story, a young woman named Janet decides to continue her journey to a Christmas party on foot when the bus she's travelling on breaks down. But she becomes lost in the snow and, taking refuge in a forlorn cottage, becomes embroiled in a mystery that may cost her her life. With a plucky, resourceful heroine, flashes of humour, and a dash of seasonal romance and melancholy, this enjoyable mystery packs a few twists and turns in its relatively short length.

Living in Canada we get a lot of American novels as audiobooks. But those are more about the criminal minds rather than the detectives thought process, which delightfully are the British. I'm hoping you will do more in this regard. Thank you for a delightful short mystery.

That was great. I couldn’t tell if the female character was a hard bitten dame, or a stupid teenager with “opposition defiance disorder” (I thinks that’s what we call it now). Anyways coupled with Jasper’s terse delivery I heard a real femme noir character. I loved it!

I don’t think I have ever heard a man narrator who imitated a woman so well. Or whom I really believed without breaking suspension of disbelief. You sound definitely masculine, yet there’s something so lightly feminine about your voice and tone. Usually, I am silently wishing they’d just use their own voice and not try to imitate a deeper masculine or higher feminine tone. It gives a ridiculous sense of humor and mockery to the script. A shame they were otherwise so skillful at voice acting. Not with Jasper - he gives it no silly vapidity or condescension.

If you do original stories, set in USA, do Miami, Tampa, etc. Please not NYC or LA.
