The Murder or Roger Ackroyd Chapters 14-18

The Murder of Roger Acrkoyd, Chapters 14-18. A slightly longer one this week as I'm trying to finish the serialisation. Even so, I reckon we have 2 weeks left after this. In any case, Chapter 16 the Mah Jong game is one of Christie's finest - a tour de force of wit and comic characterisation. She really was great. But I'd listen to Chapter 1 first. Scroll back in the weeks to find it.

      Tony released the wrong set of episodes (the last chapters) before releasing this set (Ch. 19-22) so he removed the very last ones (Ch. 23 to 25-ish) and will put them back out in a little while. Meantime, to keep you busy, check out his Frankenstein narration. It's 8-plus hours so that should keep you going for a while...and it's awesome! Cheers!

    I think folks tend to get a little too bent around critiquing accents. I love to play around with accents myself; but until my own accents are perfect, I don't think I'd ever be in a position to criticize someone else's efforts, especially people who read a story as entertainingly as you do. The same people who are critical tend to suspend their disbelief just fine when Maigret speaks English (with or without a perfect accent) and when outer space aliens speak English. Thank you for what you do (including your sometimes too self-critical but nonetheless delightful analyses at the end). It's so much fun!

    So glad I checked out this channel of yours as well. Have binged almost everything. Love the guest narrators! I wonder if you'd consider doing something by Anna Katharine Green? She's tremendously underrated as a detective author imo. It's hard to find a decent reading of The Leavenworth Case, but anything by her would be good I think. But I do understand full-length novels are a big job to undertake. Thanks for all you do. These videos are my go-to sleep aid and sometimes just for comfort while I do house-work 😊

    You worry too much. You'll never please everyone so do whatever makes you happy. In my opinion, there's absolutely no need to match accents to stories. I just want them read to me by someone with a pleasant voice. And your voice is perfect for that no matter where the story takes place. Everyone should just be grateful it's not AI.

  • @aimslygirl
    @aimslygirl 12 днів тому

    I'm just glad you're not AI. Too much of that going around. these days. And people posting the first few chapters of a book just to cut off and put the rest behind a paywall. It's ridiculous. People don't realize how good we got it with you.
