@Kyle Vernon - Fallout 4 is more of a shooter than a rpg. In my opinion role playing, in a role playing game, is more important than anything else and Fallout 4 failed in that regards. So the fact that they improved all the things you listed doesn't matter to me because it's lacking in what I feel is the most important. You obviously like the game so I'm not saying this to disagree with you just to give my opinion.
I loved how fallout nv introduced crafting ammo. Wich would be really common in a post apocalyptic wasteland. Ain’t exactly common to just find ammo in a desk or filing cabinet
No. But after feedback from F1/2, they learned a majority of players like having something to loot in every chest. That's why they added Ammo/Caps to every desk and filing cabinet. It was a psychological game decision and it's not like New Vegas took ammo out of those things.
I loved how throughout the whole game of new Vegas (and DLC) it was non stop hype about the Legate Lanius , and goddamn they delivered on “Monster of the East”
Not as monstrous as the mother and alpha deathclaws... SHIT why she so damn fast? I had to cheat and get on top of a building then plink away at it with my hunting rifle from such range that I was wondering if my shots were even registering. But it's a hardcore memory, makes me feel like a real adventurer, boasting about how he had to pump at least 70 rounds into a deathclaw to bring it down.
Nah not really, Lanius was a disappointment in both how you fight him and how you talk him out of fighting. For one, Lanius was stated by Joshua to not be good at logistics and was more intelligent when it came to military affairs. He spent like years finding ways to conquer Hoover Dam and his plan for the 2nd battle was pretty sound. So then why the hell would he care about the Legion stretching out too thin? They should’ve made it so that you needed more than speech to convince him otherwise. Frank Horrigan was much better since he was loyal to the end and was challenging.
Lanius is pretty easy if you have a melee characters, he gets knocked out easily and dies with a few punches from a super sledge. But try doing the same with a Deathclaw, you cripple one arm and end up with 1/3 of your HP if you have companions to tank for you
It works as a one off, if I want to play a Western game, I go to Red Dead. When I want to play a Fallout game that actually feels like it's set in the post apocalypse, I play any Fallout game besides New Vegas, with 3 being the preferred game for that.

I think the first and biggest red flag for me when I played Fallout 4 for the first time, was the fact that for the first time...The great Ron Perlman wasn't doing narration. That's when I knew something was terribly wrong.

I've heard that people who live in the best korea are only allowed New Vegas. They will never know the horror of bethesda made fallouts. Kim doesn't fuck around.
Having building mechanics in a game is not a novel concept, you can’t rip it off. That’s like saying Fallout 3 ripped off Mario because you can jump. Bethesda is a shitty studio but this is such a reach it’s pathetic
Fallout 4 was my introduction to Fallout, and while it was pretty good, Fallout New Vegas is so much better with all of its stories and settings and characters
Fallout 3 was fine, despite some writing hiccups. I can forgive Bethesda for Fallout 3, it was their first attempt and was a noble effort. With Fallout 4 though they should have known better, especially with New Vegas as an example to follow.
Writing hiccups is a funny thing to call almost the entire game being poorly written. Bethesda made Morrowind so it's not like they get a pass for making Fallout 3.
The only changes I liked in Fallout 4 was how power armor worked, how regular armor worked with different pieces instead of one whole suit, the weapon customization and gunplay, sprint, and the map exploration. Nothing else was an improvement. The gunplay was good, but to good because its like you are out of the vault with 100 gun skill accuracy
I just like the way they did the mechanics of it.they nailed that perfectly. In the early games it made you a beast until you fought with people who had it, and advanced weapons, which is how it should be.You also towered over fuckers :D They shouldn't have given you it so easily and early and it shouldn't have had those stupid fusion cores run out the way they did. They killed its protection and durability but they were definitely spot on with the mechanical aspects of it IMO.
If someone competent ever makes another Fallout game, they should retain F4's power armor mechanics. Just replace "fusion cores" with "military grade coolant" and make frames rarer. Good gunplay should also stay, but make players actually spend time and effort to spec into it instead of having really good aim, recoil control, and reload speed right off the bat. Easiest way to this is bringing back the Skills system and giving weapons skill requirements to use them proficiently once you reach it. However, you can still use the weapon even if you have a lower than required skill, its just that gunplay can range from: *Terribad [less than 25% met]* (no crosshairs, can't aim down sights, wide and frequent weapon sway, reloads very clumsily and very slowly, near uncontrollable recoil, unable to repair, unable to clear malfunctions) *Somewhat capable* [25%-50% met] (has wide crosshairs, can zoom in slightly, frequent weapon sway, reloads clumsily and slowly, high recoil, can repair up to 30% CND, clears malfunctions slowly) *Decent* [50%-75% met] (Slightly wider crosshairs, can aim down sights but has blurred peripherals, noticeable weapon sway, reloads slowly, slightly high recoil, can repair up to 70% CND, clears malfunctions somewhat slowly) all the way to what we have in F4's.
@@MAUTxxx IMO: The outer worlds is a good game, but nothing compared to new vegas. Do not expect all too many actual valuable choices you can make as a player, a feeling of progress, or interesting factions. It's a game that does a bunch of things very right, such as combat, a lack of bugs and glitches (I encountered one instance in which my game froze up, but after restarting it was fine and I never encountered a bug or glitch again.), voice acting, atmosphere and lore, etc... However, the game lacks in several departments when comparing it to new vegas. It's story is much more straightforward (not to mention quite short, maybe 60 hours of gameplay total.), it has maybe two genuine factions, both of which are equally retarded, player choice can be boiled down to two or three options every major questline (And I'm being very generous), enemy variety is bare-bones with enemies basically coming down to raiders, guards, troll-like creatures, big lizards and giant mantises. That's it. Weapon variety is also quite dismal, with a few basic weapons and their upgraded counterparts being the only real options. Gameplay loop comes down to either fighting or sneaking. Nothing new here I suppose, but solving things with dialogue is much less prevalent. Enemies re-spawn almost instantly, so a feeling of lasting effects on your surroundings is non-existent (this is an issue that obsidian had with some of the new vegas DLC as well, and It's my one great criticism of those parts of the game). Human enemies are faceless and always wear helmets. The gear they wear is cosmetic only and is non-lootable. The only possible loot is either scripted or random and doesn't actually represent what the enemy was using or wearing. Also, the "semi-open world" feels very linear and empty. All in all, considering that this is a stand-alone game of a company that hasn't developed in a long time, it's a good way to start a new franchise. The developers said themselves that they were mainly focused on giving a good story and new universe. But do not be mistaken: this game is a far cry from the glory that was Fallout New Vegas. And in a way, it's unfair to compare the two. One is an open world explorer rpg, the other is a semi-open world story-driven rpg. So I won't be glorifying The Outer Worlds any time soon, and you should really be careful with Obsidian's newly acquired hype. I'm glad they received a new chance, and I hope they can actually improve their games from here-on out, listening to the fans and actually making a game worthy of New Vegas' legacy. For now though, they've made something good, but not something special. Just my opinion, but it's an honest one.
Here’s the real fun part: Literally every feature that’s being boasted in Wastelanders is a feature from New Vegas. Bethesda is that desperate that they’re turning 76 into a Pseudo New Vegas
Every "innovative feature" added to fallout 4 was a copy of the most populaire fallout 3/new vegas mods. Bethesda has been lazy when it comes to creativity for decades.
@@-BlazeK- You do realize that not every new feature added to a game by the company has to be an original one? changing/customising gun parts existed in others but do people give ghost recon future soldier shit for them added a system like that in it? @@frostryder1285 For one i didnt say they copied some features from other games. I said every new feature is a copy of a mod that were made for previous fallout games, including base building. In fallout 4 you have basebuilding but it has no impact on the story, it lacks depth because they just copied the mod which had the same exact features. In fallout new vegas you had a reputation system that would punish or help you based on your relation with diffrent factions. Thats an original feature for the 3d fallout series if you want an example. Now give me one thing thats new in fallout 4 that wasnt a mod made years prior.

New Vegas brought me into Fallout. It remains the icon in my heart. Fallout 4 was just a taste of things to come from Bethesda. How do you ever feel like youre the leader of a faction in Skyrim or Fallout 4? One of my main issues of missed opportunities Bethesda could have gone with.
@@TKsMantis Corvega assembly plant and Galaxy News Plaza, 2 locations it would make sense for the minutemen to take over after clearing, but nope the big brains at bethesda cant think like that. "How do you ever feel like youre the leader of a faction in Skyrim or Fallout 4?" Mods. The answer is mods. Something older Bethesda games (and New Vegas) are GREAT for.
@@StygianIkazuchi I loved tooling around in the G.E.C.K. But from a design perspective it shouldnt require mods. Just like we shouldn't need books to explain films like Lost Jidai and Reise of der Soysucker
That always bugged me so hard in their games. For example in Skyrim where the Blades treat you like a little shit and command you around, while you are the Dragonborn and THEY are the ones who depend on you. But still they treat you like a peasant. In Fallout 4 you don't really feel like the General of the Minutemen, since Preston always commands you around and sends you to help, instead YOU should be able to send HIM or other minutemen soldiers to the settlements. If Bethesda can't make you a proper leader then they should just leave it out, because it's too frustrating. They could have made it so, that you can command the NPC's to help the settlements, but you would risk a 5050 chance to either fail to help or be successful and it would depend on the moral of the soldiers and if they have enough food, water and equipment. Bethesda missed a lot of opportunities...
Here’s my conspiracy theory: Bethesda let Obsidian make a Fallout game so that they could prove that they (BGS) make a better Fallout game than the original creators of the entire franchise. So to prove that, they set them up for failure by only giving them a year and half, not even, to make a brand new Fallout game. Obsidian ended up proving that Fallout was better in their hands, disproving Bethesda’s point of “They may have created it, but we perfected it”. Here we are today and the franchise is pretty much dead and there’s no way of resurrecting it with Todd and Emil at the helm of the ship.
I doubt Bethesda really wanted to release a bad rushed game intentionally just to make their other games look good by comparison. What's more likely is that they wanted a second Fallout game to come out shortly after Fallout 3 in order to capitalize on the hype around the series at the time, and expected Obsidian able to make a shorter spinoff game with the assets of Fallout 3 within the short time frame, of which they did. Obsidian managed to make their game good because they clearly focused on a well paced story with multiple options that end at the same locations, all while keeping the story brief enough that they could include side content and complete the game in time. Keep in mind that Obsidian didn't really have to make many assets at all other than some NPC models and textures such as the Legion armor and Securitrons
That's the single most fallout New Vegas circle jerker theory I've heard in my life. No. They were given a year and a half so that Beth could quickly cash in in between development cycles. (F3, skyrim), plus Bethesda brought the 85 bonus and that would drive obsidian even more to do a good job, which they did not in bug testing because of an over ambition with the general scope of the game.

Fallout 4 was my first Fallout game, which I loved at the time. This led me to buy a copy of Fallout 3. I had no idea Fallout: New Vegas was a thing until stumbling across it. New Vegas was the last of the new generation Fallout I’ve played, and I have to say it’s the best. The atmosphere of the game feels unique, the story is interesting, the DLCs are amazing, and I feel like it plays a lot more into the history of the Fallout universe. Plus, no matter what level I play at in New Vegas feels like a challenge. I loved the leveling system because you pretty much had to plan which skills and traits you wanted from the moment you started the game. And the choices make you feel conflicted. And... So I didn't get to play New Vegas until after I played Fallout 4 I think.

When I was 13 my introduction to the Fallout series was Fallout 3 and I remember loving it. I was excited when New Vegas came out but my initial impression of Fallout 3 colored my experience and I remember putting the New Vegas down because of how non-linear it felt to me. As an adult, I appreciate New Vegas so much more and I have finished it 4 times. I question what my dumb baby brain was one about because New Vegas is better than fallout 3 in practically every way. apart from some gameplay upgrades, aspects of the settlement system and some neat graphics Fallout 4 felt like a step down to me. I only wish Fallout 4 had even a quarter of the effort New Vegas had in its story and world-building.
Here's the thing, though: New Vegas didn't just improve on the formula for Fallout 3. It improved the formula for Fallout AS A WHOLE. The flaws of Fallout 3, like there being no joinable Enclave or cliche evil Super Mutants and railroading you to work with the Brotherhood? They were present in 1 and 2. Fallout 3 did nothing to alter the formula from the previous games, mostly because Bethesda was new to the franchise and was scared that if they changed anything, the fans would riot. They allowed Obsidian to make new changes in New Vegas because Fallout 3 was a wide success and people wanted something different in return. But it is annoying to me how people keep praising Fallout 1 and 2 while shitting on 3, whereas things like the Brotherhood railroading, always-evil Enclave, and chaotic evil super mutants were already there before 3. If anything, Fallout 3 at least offered you choices on how you dealt with the BoS and the Enclave. Heck, I RP'd my Lone Wanderer as someone who took Eden's message to heart even though she disagreed with his genocidal aims, so she eradicated the BoS while activating the purifier as intended. Then she helped groups like the people of Tenpenny Towers, Rivet City, Reily's Rangers, among others, to gain power over the wastelands, while she eradicated Super Mutants, Autumn's Enclave traitors, and Brotherhood remnants while wearing Enclave Power armor. That way, the Capital Wasteland becomes truly free, with no BoS bossing them around, which would allow society to develop faster using the remnants of Enclave tech. That's impossible in Fallout 2, where despite infiltrating the Enclave successfully, there's no option for you to help them win or take them over, like how KOTOR gave you the option to work with/infiltrate the Sith and become their ruler.
@@TKsMantis Really? Tell that to my LW who wiped out the former and spared Eden. You don't have that choice in Fallouts 1 or 2. Saying that there's no choice is patently false.
@@TKsMantis Also, it was horribly stupid that in Fallout 2, you can infiltrate the Enclave, down to the point where the President thinks you're one of his "gallant troopers," yet there's no option to help them win, join them, or even take them over. At least Fallout 76, for all its ills, allowed you to join the Enclave. In Fallout 2, you essentially infiltrate the Enclave and could pass for an Enclave trooper, yet you couldn't join them or take them over. Which is stupid. At least in Fallout 3, the leader of the Enclave military knows your face and hates your guts, which is a good-enough excuse as to why you couldn't join them. KOTOR 1 showed us how a player could join the Sith Academy and even gain the loyalty of the Sith there, or even take over the Sith Empire. Why couldn't you do that in Fallout 2?
I just wish the main story wasn’t so forced down your throat in most of the fallout games. FNV on the other hand, the story is one of your four decisions of how you are looking at “fixing” the situation. My favorite ending is an independent new Vegas with a strong and independent Freeside. I still can’t fully decide if NCR should be allowed to stay or be kicked out because I see the Benefit of both situations and I also see the problems. Because of every large political decision having a gray attitude the replay-ability is insane. I’ve said this same thing in the past. Fallout 4 owes its hype to New Vegas which in turn generated record breaking sales for Fallout 4. I just hope Bethesda realizes this. Fallout 5 won’t have the luxury of spring boarding off the success of the previous game. In Fallout 5s case it will come after the disastrous Fallout 76. That’s not exactly a good way to hype your game up. Most Fallout fans hate 76. Who knows when we will get another Single player Fallout game though. It could be another decade. Being a Fallout fan these days is pretty rough. All we can do is reminisce about the older games while watching Bethesda pour more gasoline on the 76 dumpster fire.
If Bethesda makes another game in general they will be met with skepticism of a heavy scale. We all have been looking at 76, as it is such a large dumpster fire, and forgot exactly what came before. I haven't heard anyone bring up that ravenous ES Mobile game as of recent, to the point where I have no clue what happened to it. I believe that this, and the degradation beyond Fallout 4 shows exactly how their next game will turn out.
man, remembering that moment of disappointing hype train like crazy train all abroad expecting FO4 gonna be the best Fallout experience will all the improvement and mechanic from F: NV... it hurt man, it does hurt. thing is, the old bethesda is long gone from this world. seeing how corporate bullshit behind them, zenimax and bethesda softworks only care for business profited gained from new consumer, new audiences and not the OLD FANS who actually love and supporting since elder scrools Arena and Daggerfall.
Mods my dude, Fallout 4 in New Vegas, Fallout Miami, The well done New California. And my personal favorite I'm waiting for, Fallout The Frontier. The fans are still keeping what we love alive.
"remember when..." I do. We're talking about Fallout 1 and 2 here. The rest are shooters with some RPG mechanics, New Vegas being the closest to RPG genre. Actually, in my (unpopular) opinion, everything else that was done (namely, by bethesda) isn't even Fallout in the first place. Bethesda simply doesn't understand Fallout as a whole. F3 may or may not've been a good game, but it would've been better off with a different name and a fresh lore start. Of course, this way the game wouldn't receive such hype though. F3 owes F2 and 1 even more than F4 owes New Vegas. And don't get me started on later installments, with poorest 4button dialogue wheel in F4 and... ugh, i don't even want to mention F76 here, for very obvious reasons. Edit: didn't mention Fallout tactics, the game that is often overlooked. Well... it's better than F76 at least. Lacking in RPG, but had a good turn-based tactical combat, when F76 has neither.
@@romans4143 I agree, but I think F:NV qualifies as an RPG if only for the fact that many options are locked behind skill checks. I think it would be even more so if there were a mod that made the gun mechanics more similar to Deus Ex, where your guns will ALWAYS do the same amount of damage, but the size and accuracy of the crosshair is dependent on your skill.
@@guybrian4899 yeah I think that this type of system would be better but I think it would be better if the damage dependent on the caliber because doesn't make sense if a .45 does the same damage as a 556 or a .50 BMG
The thing I hate about Fallout 4 is that you never really feel in control, you're supposed to be the General of the Minutemen but there are very few moments you have control over things. However, I feel like Far Harbor changed things, people rely on you and there's so many endings to choose from, if the next fallout game is like that I'll certainly be happy.
Fallout 3 solid post-apocalyptic but fails at simple logic (where does all the food come from). Fallout new vegas (weapons, DLC, story,Rpg) Fallout 4 (lack of unarmed, lack of factions, predictable plot, can't make diferent options to find the institute, lack of factions, lack of RPG).
@@TKsMantis Yeah, 3 felt like a copy which missed the point. NV's built on the originals and referenced them in ways that made sense. The enclave being old, withering remnants instead of coming back.
@@dooderbug2437 I dont think Chris Avellone doesnt work at obsidian anymore, he worked there for new vegas but u think left, so an obsidian fallout would be different from 2010
NebulaZer0 Well you only really need Sawyer for making a good story but Obsidian should really just ask the help of another company to improve gameplay
Fallout 3 be like Oh hey my father is gone time to look for him Omg why is the waste land so scary my dad must be so good at fighting Oh hello dad there you are and you only bring a pistol across the waste land Hey why you die I just met you OK I guess I better fix this thing OK I fixed it after long adventure Goodbye everyone I saved the waste land somehow
People who like NV better tend to be more interested in story, consistent world building, unique and interesting themes and varied gameplay. Whereas those who like F3 better ARE WRONG.
I like Fallout 3 when I want an urban environments that's just.... Like truly dead. It really sets the tone of everything is fucked the most of the 3d fallot games. It also has insanely great urban gloom and sensations of desolation that New Vegas doesn't. New Vegas is better with story and themes and I admit gameplay. But exploration, isolation, atmosphere the sense of loss and true meaning of the fallout of the apocalypse, Fallout 3 wins in leaps and bounds. Fallout 3 is like the abstract end whereas fallout 4 is the right action end, where New Vegas is the left of the middle. Fallout 3 let's you FEEL more like the sole living sane man traveling a wasted land. Fallout does have less going for it, but what little it does, it does better than the rest of the series. A true sense of horror, unlike the rest.
Fallout 3 was my first fallout playthrough, then I played fallout 4, then i played new vegas... oops. I know the story line and everything now but I only really started to love fallout when I started playing fallout 4 because the option of mods, fo3=better exploration, fo new vegas=better story, gameplay, and the best companion ever...(ED-E) fo4=better graphics and uno reverse card on 3s story.
I like the setting of 3 more than I like the setting of NV. However, NV has the better engine of the two. Good thing I don't have to choose with Tale of Two Wastelands!
Good stuff, dude! I was hoping Bethesda would learn some lessons from NV before release, too, but I wasn't holding my breath. I'm probably going to sound like a bit of an asshole here, but it's disappointing to see how well Fallout 4 has done considering how shallow it was and how many issues it had. The fact they're handling 76 the way they are just shows no intention of changing or improving. It's sad.
Bethesda threw the Fallout brand under the bus out of a pathetic attempt to make a recurrent revenue stream game , aka live service. They should sell the Fallout IP to another company.
I have to admit, I like Fallout 4. The story might not be remotely interesting but I'm not playing the game to save "my son", I'm here to whack Raiders over the head with an enormous Sledge Hammer while relishing the WAAAY better animations.
Honestly, I love FNV for the story, quests and characters, and I try to mod the gameplay with as much mods as the game can take. I managed to make the gameplay way better than the og fallout (Solid Project is best), but I just love F4 for the gameplay. The writing is horrendous and the factions feel kinda shit, so I decided to get a bunch of Enclave mods (main one being America rising) and an Alternate start mod so that I'm RPing as an Enclave remnant trying to rebuild the good ol US of A. I find it really enjoyable, way more than the base game. Thank God for mods.
Fallout 4: Gameplay, animations, no stat required like luck, and no dominating strat Bad story, only good faction is brotherhood, power armor is way to easy to get, and the best characters are Nicky and Hancock Fallout NV: FUCKING fantastic story, gambling is fun, interesting factions, and easy Pete best waifu Horrendous bugs that are easy to recreate, bad animations, dominating strat is always high luck, laser weapons are mediocre at best, and FUCK THE NCR
That point about memorable characters is very true NV: Boone, The King, House, Benny, Vulpes, Easy Pete, Doc Mitchell, That bartender lady in Goodsprings and all of them are unique in their own way 3: Dad, Moira, President Eden. I remembered them because they're part of a quest
A few months ago, back when Outer Worlds was just about to be released, I was talking to a friend about it, and described Fallout: New Vegas as "perfectly flawed" and honestly, I feel like that really is the perfect way to describe it. Yes, it was rushed, and thus was buggy and reused assets and some of the story doesn't add up, but it really added so much to the series, and those minor imperfections added a lot to the charm and appeal to it. To this day, FNV is my favorite RPG and one of my favorite games in general.
Love how auto captions replace Bethesda with "pathetic" at 0:54. Even the algorithms know. And yes, Fallout 3 is Oblivion with guns as much as Fallout 4 is Skyrim with guns. Something they even tried to pull when Fallout 76 came out. When the first trailers were shown I could see re-skins of dragons, trolls, and other Skyrim mobs reused as assets for the game. I laughed out loud, thinking, "who in their right mind will fall for this sham?", welp, almost 2 years later it's very clear. Maybe I just have a good memory, maybe after 30 years of gaming I have learned to see the devil in the details, but whoever vehemently denies this and defends Bethesda for their actions with the Fallout IP needs an urgent reality check. So sad that fandoms have become the toxic cesspools they are today and not a forum open to discussion on how to improve the things we all enjoy and love. FO4 and FO76 are lazy and full of missteps (with a few excellent ideas sprinkled here and there, mind you, ultimately marred by an absolutely anal implementation). I just hope they don't cling to squeezing the last drop of life out of Fallout with 76, although at this point, with Fallout1st and the coming Season/Battle Pass or whatever, that hope is long dead.
I like Fallout 4's gunplay, and customization. But New Vegas started that trend, and did some things so much better. The RPG elements, VATS, Perks, Leveling, Karma, story. We hoped for more improvements, not regressions.

Guns. A big part of the immersion and lore. Wiped away in fallout 4. NV had alot of neat historical guns. 3 had believable guns. 4 had garbage weapons. Tip of the iceberg
I started with 4 it was my entry point. New Vegas is the perfect Fallout game at least from a RP perspective. It’s perfectly open ended for your choices. The Courier is the only protagonist that doesn’t have an story that you‘re supposed to follow. The Lone Wanderer has to be fulfill what James started. The Sole Survivor has Shawn and the Institute. Even the Vault Dweller has to protect the Vault. The Courier is the only character that has the freedom to choose who they side with, even if they want more than to complete their job, or even if they want to finish it anyway. They have total control of their actions.
Hey Mantis, I just wanted to say that i really like your fallout videos, they're entertaining and well thought out. I hope you get even more subscribers because you deserve it :).
The part where he says that the Bethesda team were hostile to the new Vegas team for not reaching the 85 score is completely false, It has been stated by the n.v devs that they were offered the bonus by Todd because they were only 1 point off, they refused it.
it's absurd to say Bethesda was hostile towards obsidian bc they didn't give the bonus for a one point difference. It was literally in the contract. That's not how businesses work.
Yeah. I like being able to layer armors with clothes. With mods, it gets even better tbh. That is something I hope to see moving forward in on similar games.

First time i tried fallout was with 4. And i dropped it after 5 or 10 hours. It just didn't do it for me. Then i picked up new vegas. And over the last month or so it has become one of my favorite games. I still haven't beaten the main story once because there's so much OTHER cool shit to do. This game makes me feel like James Woods. Everywhere i go it's "ooh, piece of candy!" and next thing i know I'm getting a robot dog a new brain. I've literally restarted the game 3 times because there are so many alternate paths you can take and I just couldn't help seeing if these alternate paths were better. New Vegas is blowing my mind and I haven't seen 75% of it yet.

A cool way to do the fallout series (which won’t happen because of just Bethesda) is if they did a main fallout game in the series and obsidian came in and did a sort of fallout new Vegas type game to go in after using the same engines and assets to quicken production like how new vegas was
I can objectively see how New Vegas has a better and more "Fallout" story. But something about the simplicity of Fallout 3's main questline just makes me feel good. Nothing too complicated and easy to remember where you are when coming back to it after side questing for ages.
Honestly can not designate one Fallout game as my most favorite of the franchise, that is how great they are. Well, except for 76. That is just the most miserable game in the existence of gaming.
Fallout NV is by far my favorite game of all time. I know it like the back of my hand. I replay it about 5-10 times every year still. I barely touch my XBOX one o play my 360 still tho cuz I have all the DLCs on that
New Vegas was my most beloved game as a Kid and continues to be my favourite. I think a huge factor in its success was the fact that former Black isle employees were on board, thus making the game feel more like an authentic Fallout game.
My first Fallout game was New Vegas, and I have never had that same amazing experience in another fallout game since, but the original games are definitely great too (although it is hard to compare them with the new titles as they are completely different games in many ways). New Vegas is still my favourite game, and I want Bethesda to give Obsidian another chance to make a Fallout game, this time with more, well, time.

Agreed.

I like them both for different reasons. I like Fallout 4's shooting and weapon mods system but I like New Vegas as an actual rpg
Fallout 3 was fine, despite some writing hiccups. I can forgive Bethesda for Fallout 3, it was their first attempt and was a noble effort. With Fallout 4 though they should have known better, especially with New Vegas as an example to follow.

Sebastian S *vomits in mouth*
@@billystrife7049 it's a matter of opinion.. I prefer fallout 3 over new Vegas and 4 quite easily
Nate was former military, at least for him it made sense. But, we dont know Nora's back story, so, on that part it does not.
A lot of people disagree, but I also like the way the PA worked. Yes it was a retcon, but I enjoyed the gameplay changes with it.
I just like the way they did the mechanics of it.they nailed that perfectly. In the early games it made you a beast until you fought with people who had it, and advanced weapons, which is how it should be.You also towered over fuckers :D
They shouldn't have given you it so easily and early and it shouldn't have had those stupid fusion cores run out the way they did. They killed its protection and durability but they were definitely spot on with the mechanical aspects of it IMO.
I wish you could use power armor with and without a frame, each with their own pros and cons
However, you can still use the weapon even if you have a lower than required skill, its just that gunplay can range from:
*Terribad [less than 25% met]* (no crosshairs, can't aim down sights, wide and frequent weapon sway, reloads very clumsily and very slowly, near uncontrollable recoil, unable to repair, unable to clear malfunctions)
*Somewhat capable* [25%-50% met] (has wide crosshairs, can zoom in slightly, frequent weapon sway, reloads clumsily and slowly, high recoil, can repair up to 30% CND, clears malfunctions slowly)
*Decent* [50%-75% met] (Slightly wider crosshairs, can aim down sights but has blurred peripherals, noticeable weapon sway, reloads slowly, slightly high recoil, can repair up to 70% CND, clears malfunctions somewhat slowly)
all the way to what we have in F4's.

Swanky Games is the new obsidian game any good?
Wiratama it is good, very good. Outer worlds is quite a game and I love it
@@swanky464 I'm looking forward to the Switch version to come out.
@@MAUTxxx IMO:
The outer worlds is a good game, but nothing compared to new vegas.

Here’s my conspiracy theory:
Bethesda let Obsidian make a Fallout game so that they could prove that they (BGS) make a better Fallout game than the original creators of the entire franchise.
Nonsense. Bethesda game studios don't make those decisions. Bethesda softworks do and they are two different things.
It is in no way dead lmao tf
You know its dead when the carcass is being theown into the tv spinoff meat grinder

Didn't even need that
if they had only put in the effort they did with 3 it eould've been acceptable
There is no choice in Fallout 3 about how you deal with the BoS or Enclave. It is the same everytime.
@@TKsMantis Really? Tell that to my LW who wiped out the former and spared Eden. You don't have that choice in Fallouts 1 or 2. Saying that there's no choice is patently false.

It's sad.
Truly sad. Thanks for watching man!
Wait that's illegal.
Fallout 4: Gameplay, animations, no stat required like luck, and no dominating strat
Bad story, only good faction is brotherhood, power armor is way to easy to get, and the best characters are Nicky and Hancock
Fallout NV: FUCKING fantastic story, gambling is fun, interesting factions, and easy Pete best waifu
Horrendous bugs that are easy to recreate, bad animations, dominating strat is always high luck, laser weapons are mediocre at best, and FUCK THE NCR
That point about memorable characters is very true
NV: Boone, The King, House, Benny, Vulpes, Easy Pete, Doc Mitchell, That bartender lady in Goodsprings and all of them are unique in their own way
3: Dad, Moira, President Eden.
Favorite RPG? I mean, you do you, I guess.

"The best fallout is indeed the best fallout"
I liked this video about the best fallout, it was nice.
It.. It just works
Everytime.
Oblivion and New Vegas are my favorites from each franchise.

I like the caption there.
Guns. A big part of the immersion and lore. Wiped away in fallout 4. NV had alot of neat historical guns. 3 had believable guns. 4 had garbage weapons. Tip of the iceberg
@Zach cash The pipe weapons should've been made properly though. It's a cool concept but they just don't make sense in game
As much as i love playing F4 with alot of mods, new vegas will always be a very fun fallout game.
I was sold fallout 3 by the guy at the game store he literally called it oblivion with guns 😂
The NV story is find out who shot you in the head and why. What you do with that knowledge is up to you.
The karma and faction system i loved that shit, walking the tight rope between two factions playing both sides and seeing how people perceive you
Hey Mantis, I just wanted to say that i really like your fallout videos, they're entertaining and well thought out.
I hope you get even more subscribers because you deserve it :).
Thanks a lot my dude for your kind words!
@@TKsMantis your welcome you're a good guy
Can't believe it'll be 10 years this year since it's release. Truly an amazing game.
Good almost morning mantis, hope you get some good sleep
I actually did sleep tonight and stress levels have been falling. Getting back to normal now.
That's not how businesses work.
i liked how diverse the armour equipment system was in fo4
Yeah. I like being able to layer armors with clothes. With mods, it gets even better tbh. That is something I hope to see moving forward in on similar games.
Disagree, it was cool but unfortunately the uniqueness seems to suffer. It's the same with the weapons system
It's practically just the morrowind armour system
It was Morrowind like. I would of loved it more if they made the game better.
@Zach cash How did the left handed hunting rifle make you feel?
I've got at least 1000hrs in NV, still keep finding things in game!
MontyPython12 on my first playthrough, always was a MacBook user, never wanted ps3 graphics. Finally my 2017 MBP Can play the game in 4K all maxed. This game is low-key beautiful vanilla.
First fallout I've ever played was new Vegas fell in love with the wasteland immediately bought 3 and 4 they were less impressive but I still play them. Pre ordered 76 was there the first day after having to download the dang thing twice. had to make myself play for a month haven't played since was just awful never been so bored started a new play though on new Vegas just to cheer myself up
Grace Cookie play to the first 2. That’ll definitely cure your itch. If your willing to give them a chance
@@jakefromstatefarm13 I tried but I cant get them to work on my computer sadness
Grace Cookie I had the same problem. I think you have to download windows 64 if you have windows 10 and play it the old version
Came into the franchise with NV, played 4 and 76, playing 1 and 2 rn. Gotta say, NV still hold a special place in my heart
"I wanna give a special thanks to my biggest supporters; Kim Jong Un...".
Uhh...
New vegas needs to be remastered.
Use the mods mate. They are the remaster and you don’t need to pay a penny.
@@TheCrackbinge No don't you understand, he's the kind of CONSOOOOOMER that would gladly buy the same game 5 different times if it was well packaged enough, remastered and came with a funko pop.
No it doesn’t. The game is perfect the way it is.
DNEmpires Main Channel 64 bit would be nice
@@fmj9237 Alright, I will admit a 64 bit executable would be nice, but that should come in the form of an update, not a remaster. At this point, I wouldn't put it past hardcore fans to reverse engineer NV's engine like they did with Morrowind.
This video just works. All of it just works.
Imma need 16x the videos. 4x times longer.
I Was Quite Surprised When I Saw Them Collab With Conan Must Have Been A Pretty Penny
The main problem with fallout 4 is the lack of enclave authority
It is sad there should be more enclave in Fallout!
Agreed.
And you have to use a mod to join the enclave

@@FOA89019 No you
Fallout 3 has the most realistic story except I never found my Dad.

Interesting how New Vegas is also the only one where you're not from a vault. Bethesda just can't let that part go.
Honestly can not designate one Fallout game as my most favorite of the franchise, that is how great they are.
Well, except for 76. That is just the most miserable game in the existence of gaming.
I can understand these feelings.
Why does it feel like I've watched this exact same video already like a hundred times? There is nothing particularly insightful about any of this.
(Also Bethesda really needs a new engine because they’ve been using the same engine since 1997 and it really shows)
