      I was lucky enough to be given some of Davies flies from my brother as a gift. They look amazing in the videos and look even better in real life. The quality of the materials is mind blowing and they are so well balanced.

    Absolute genius!!! I’ve fished the Mustard Green for over 20 years and have a dry/emerger sounds great. Had to look up what a Corrib fly was. Then I remembered when you tied a “Gnat” I was thinking that it looked just like the spinner phase of the Eastern
    Green Drake. This will make its way to my box for sure. Again brilliant!

    Love these patterns . The bubble wing is one of my go to emerger/dry patterns although I’ve never tied it with the elk over wing , May tie some up just for fun . The second one kind of a RS-2 variant is also a deadly pattern, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had fish slam it on the lift . Nice ties and thanks for sharing

    Davie, this is really kinda cool, it’s a mustard green that floats as a dry.. Where did you come up with this? Excellent idea!!! I just tied 6 test mustards up trying to emulate the original pattern since I have some of Sean’s original bugs left. But hell they all look close enough!! I’m going to spin em up in my own colors now might as well put a wing on em!!! Never ever thought of it!!!!! Thank you for that!!!!!!

      Hi Scott,
      I'm glad you liked this version of Sean's fly. I have done this many times with good patterns and with the interest I got from the original video I did with the Mustard Green I thought it would give me the excuse to tye the other pattern I tyed due to the many questions I got asked..It was certainly a great pattern to film and one that many would find interesting and worth tying..Let me know how you get on with them..

    • @DavieMcPhail
      @DavieMcPhail  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Samuel,
      I personally like to fish this style of emerger fly on it's own just like if I was casting a dry, though with the CDC bubble you can pull it if you want as it will pop straight back up due to the bubble being trapped by the CDC..I have attached a link to the SLF I used and it's the natural you want to buy..

    beautiful flies thanks for sharing them ! very well tied , i wish i was as steady handed
    i am going to be fishing a competition in march and april for stocked and wild brown trout in kintyre. standard competition rules for sizes i believe . last time the fish were chasing spawning minnows , the minnows were in their spawning colours and shoaling in the shallows and the trout were hammering them , problem is they were around 2 inches plus long and the fish were ignoring my competition wets and nymphs . could you possibly help with a smallish competition legal spawning minnow pattern ? and if you have a chance could you give me a few easy tied "peaty hill reservoir" wild brownie flies to fill the box with for the competition if the minnow spawn isnt in full swing on the day ? we will be fishing from the shore . thanks , happy new year to you and tight lines

      Hi captainflint89,
      I've attached some patterns you may like to tye, even a cats whiskers pattern that I would tye with chain bead eyes instead of the muddler head and can be a great pattern for fry as I have caught many a time with it when fish were feeding hard on fry..Also a black pheasant tail which is a great pattern for pin fry as well as for midge and perfect for the dropper..I also attached my playlist of many patterns that would be worth looking through as there's many good patterns that would fish well for wild brown trout..

      Hi Robert,
      It's more of a dry fly thought it sits half in and half out as this is why it's more of an emerger than a true dry..Happy New Year..
      All the very best Davie..

  • @GT-yw8ue
    @GT-yw8ue 2 роки тому +1

    Davie random question have you found natural seals fur doesn’t dub the way you’d expect compared to the dyed versions? Is this why you’re using SLF? It might just be my bad luck in the packets of natural i’ve had but I always need to fiddle about with it something terrible removing lots of stubborn stiff fibers. I’ve been using it for small bug type patterns but might pick up a packet of natural SLF looking at how good you’ve got it looking in the video.

    • @DavieMcPhail
      @DavieMcPhail  2 роки тому +1

      Hi GT,
      If I am having a problem with a dubbing I would put it in my small coffee blender to mix it up as this will help a lot as the fibres mixed well will dub far easier..If it doesn't then I will blend it with a finer dubbing like rabbit or even wool close to the colour as this will make it far easier to dub or even adding a bit of flash can help as well..If I get a chance I'll do a video on this, just keep me in mind.
