In this game, there were several players who would win Super Bowls with the 90s Cowboys: Jim Jeffcoat, Mark Tuinei, Bill Bates, Mike Saxon, and even Atlanta safety Scott Case (1995).

    Falcons red uniforms were great.
Wish they kept the red falcons.

Dan Henning, who came over from the Redskins, had great offensive ideas. The whole H-Back thing had such possibilities, but the horrific defense allowed gobs of points (the Bears destroyed them 36-0 at Soldier Field and San Francisco scored more than 30 points on them in both meetings).
When Marion Campbell came onboard in 1986 as Defensive Coordinator the D, with mostly the same personnel, settled down and became more contentous, ranking #6 in the league in scoring defense in '86. I miss those red-striped helmets.

@Bigfriendly15 The loss that ended it for Dan Henning was the Colt game late in the year, I think. Colts blocked a punt and came away with the win. I think they started the season 5-0. Fans were excited.

Lifelong cowboys fan. I remember watching cbs here in Michigan and the 10-minute ticker updates and this one was a wild game. And still can see the last play in my head to this day. Have yet to see it here but Hill chose to try and take it into the endzone. Nevertheless, an exciting game.

You're confusing this game with the 1986 game: Falcons 37- Cowboys 35 (09/21/1986).

The Atlanta defense gave up lots of points and, as in 1984, the Falcons go 4-12. They lived in the NFC West basement throughout the 80s. It was a shame because there was a lot of young talent. They were the youngest team in the league at one time, with an average player age of 23. They couldn't put it together. Atlanta fans still disliked the Cowboys, remembering the 78 and 80 painful playoff losses to Dallas

Only one First-Team All-Pro season, 1983, and only 4 Pro Bowl selections during his 12 year career and he ranks tied for 13th all-time for career interceptions and the Cowboys did not win or even make it to the Super Bowl during his time in Dallas. If they ever build a Hall Of Good players, put him in it!

@@davidcobb2693 good points, yet there are players with less career ints who r in. Plus he did win a title with the giants.

@@geeskin5750 By the time he was with the Giants, his skills had diminished and he didn't make the Pro Bowl, when you think of Giants Super Bowl defenses, LT was the driving force and most people don't remember Everson Walls's playing defense outside of Dallas. Many of the players with fewer interceptions that are in the HOF made their marks in other areas, Deion Sanders returning punts AND he had more pick 6's than Walls, Willie Brown is widely credited as the inventor of the bump and run. I still don't think Aeneas Williams should be in the HOF.

@@davidcobb2693 good points, walls was more than a pass defender, he didn't mind tackling the man with ball as well

@@geeskin5750 There's a reason why elite NFL Cornerbacks are called " Shutdown Corners " and NOT " Takedown Corners ", his willingness to tackle the man with the ball is something EVERY player on defense should have and it makes for a very weak argument for HOF induction! Jack Tatum and Everson Walls had similar careers in terms of number of seasons/games played, Walls played 13 seasons to Tatum's 10 and Walls played in 50 more games than Tatum, 186 to 136 which gave Walls 50 more games to amass 20 more interceptions than Tatum, 57 to 37, yet Jack Tatum had 232 more return yards of passes he intercepted than Walls did on his Int. returns, 736 yards for Tatum to 504 for Walls. Jack Tatum was a ball hawk who had twice the number of fumble recoveries as Walls and Tatum's fumble return yardage is over 20 times greater than the fumble return yardage Walls had. And oh yeah, Jack Tatum didn't mind tackling the man with the ball either. The Professional Football Hall Of fame voters will never vote to induct Jack Tatum and as long as that continues, Everson Walls should never get in. Has anyone ever heard that Everson Walls was a " feared defender "? Jack Tatum was feared and no matter what you call his style of play, " dirty " or just " aggressive and hard hitting ", the intimidation factor was real, giving the defense an edge/advantage. Receivers came down with sudden cases of AAS when going up against Jack Tatum, sudden cases of Alligator Arms Syndrome, I don't recall Everson Walls having that kind of affect on opposing receivers. And that Super Bowl ring Walls has came from a game where he had 2 tackles, the same number as Tatum had in Super Bowl XI, but can you name or remember either of Walls's Super Bowl tackles and what, if any, impact it made on the game? Jack Tatum's hit/tackle on Sammy White set a tone that had a game changing impact on the Vikings offensive game plan. Sammy White was Minnesota's Pro Bowl WR and their best down field deep threat, Ahmad Rashad caught 2 more passes during the '76 regular season than White but Sammy White averaged 5 more yards per catch and his 10 TD receptions led the Vikings, Rashad had 3TD receptions in '76. Sammy White caught 5 passes in Super Bowl XI for a respectable 77 yards gained and a TD ( 8 yards ) that came when the Vikings were down 19-0. His longest catch was for 20 yards, the hit he absorbed from Jack Tatum effectively neutralized him and Minnesota's receiving corps for the game.
