    Following your instructions is really easy for a beginner. I paid attention to your tip about the direction of sewing and it
    worked. I had no bowing of the 4 strip pieces. My biggest fear is measuring and cutting but your tutorials make it seem less scary. Having a cutting mat, different sized templates and a cutting wheel really helps.

      I am not good at this either, but check Jordan Fabrics. They have tutorials too and pre-cut kits. They specialize in log cabins actually. I have not ordered one yet, but I will. Having said that though. I am a huge fan of Wanda and Paula here at Alanda Craft and I have liked a lot of their videos so I can find them easily.

    Hi there. Thank you for the wonderful educational video. Can you please provide the name of that white fabric/ material hanging from your wall that you have put the fabric squares on to before sewing. I want to get some, but have no idea what it is called. Thank you. :-)

    • @alandacraft

      We have used two different types of fabric over time, one was batting and the other was flannel. I am pretty sure it is flannel in this video. Both work well. You certainly can Charlotte. This quilt from one of our readers is similar and is a riot of colour, so it may give you some idea of how it will look. www.alandacraft.com/2017/03/03/readers-project-leann-my-first-ever-lap-quilt/

    Ma'am what was hanging on ur wall to make ur quilt stick?

    • @alandacraft
      @alandacraft  8 років тому

      +Dena Bandsma Its simply some batting. We've tried a few different things but this works well for us at the moment. It clings to the brick which keeps it in place. We will look at doing something more fancy in the future but this works for now.

      Oh dear, Rosi, I can certainly see why there was ‘an issue’ 😀. I don’t pre wash my fabric before quilting. I know lots of people do. it’s just a personal preference. I spray the fabric with Mary Ellen’s best press before cutting. it gives it a nice crisp feel.

    Did you only use 36 squares?

    • @alandacraft
      @alandacraft  4 роки тому +2

      The quilt has 6 squares across and 8 squares down so that's a total of 48 squares that we used. I added borders to it and it sits on top of a queen bed, but there isn't much overhang. on the sides, which is fine for me.
