  • This Gentle Hold glue is water-soluble, fabric-safe, and can be used in many different ways. Here I use it to pin my fabric together
Seam Align Glue, by Acorn Precision Piecing Products, is available at most quilting and sewing shops
The quilt in the background is in my book sewveryeasy.po... and here is the video • Flowers on the Half-Lo...

I bought a set of three bottles with that tiny applicator needle on it and I mix Elmer's school glue and warm water. Washes out in one wash and I always wash a quilt, or anything I sew, before gifting it. Usually much cheaper than the "special" glues for quilting. All 3 bottles and a big bottle of glue for the price of 1 bottle of the specialty glue.

Nice! Can do the glue piecing while watching a TV program for sewing later. Won't have to heat set the glue since the glue will have already dried, or can be heat set with a small travel iron. I also like how accurately the quilt blocks come out and the seam intersections match up. Brilliant!

4:30 thank you. I knew about glue basting, but never thought about using it on long strips... Like BORDERS! my borders started going wonky and the project went UFO. Now, between heavy starch and glue basting... I'm going to tame those borders on that quilt restoration! Yippee! ❤🌅🌵😷

I have used this glue and it is awsome! 👍 At first it seemed to be an expensive purchase for the amount of product, but soon realized the joy of sewing without pins with wonderful results. The pressing solution is an excellent product, also providing nicely flattened pressed blocks.

Thank you for showing others how to use glue. Love all your videos & hope I can add to this. I have been using Elmer's Washable School Glue for years. I glue on my entire binding on a quilt then machine sew from the front because the back is perfectly glued in place including perfectly mitered corners. Works great to glue on a pocket then sew it on, no bulky pins. Glue in a zipper before sewing. Star points are glued first, perfect points. Matching fabric stripes & designs before sewing two pieces together as for borders.
Great to glue on appliques before machine stitching on. You will find a ton of uses for glue. I am sure this glue is wonderful but I buy mine for 50 cents during school supply sales. It all washes out. I would rather spend my money on other fun supplies, most of which you have shown us! Thank you very much for your videos. You are appreciated! I am just cheap!😄

I use glue basting for applique, paper piecing, and for glue basting my bindings (white school glue or applique glue in a similar bottle) but have not done it for piecing. Will definately give it a go for this process, especially for bias edges! I rarely pin because I invariably stab myself, lol! Happy sewing

Smooth curves and sharp corners! No pin pricks! No blood on your fabric! It's a winner! Why wouldn't everyone piece with this modern-day wonder!

There's a lot of glue basting options (including Elmer's School glue). The secret is the tiny, tiny dots of glue for easy release or basting. If you are sure that's where you want it a thicker bead of glue is more permanent (or VERY difficult to pull apart). But using a washable glue (like Laura's using or Elmer's) means that if it's difficult to pull apart, soak in water to dissolve the glue. Some washable glues will take washing (not just a soak) to dissolve the glue. Also, some glues are more needle friendly than others. So, if your glue, isn't, place your glue just inside the seam allowance. 💜🌞🌵😷

I watch your videos all the time I'm noticing you use an Oliso iron. I have had the worst luck with them. The company is pretty easy to deal with however I seem to go through one every 6 months. They start leaking and it's the only iron I have ever used that builds up these little white sandy things that spit out of it like dust. It's been horrible. Just wondering what kind of luck you've had with yours? I love the automatic lift feature so dummy me keeps buying them. I also like the weight of it. And I also like the way it feels in my hand. Such a shame. I wish they could figure out why they leak so much. One of them that they sent me after I had a problem with another one arrived all rusted around the edge. Contacted them immediately and sent pictures and they sent me another one. 3 months later it was leaking. I have finally given up. Back to my fifteen dollar iron I have had for 20 years.
