Another thing I've seen for your keybinds is moving WASD over right to ESDF to have the QWAZ available as your finger is resting naturally on the raised F key did not really work for me but talked to some people that this worked for. Great tips all around.
I prefer using ESDF as it gives you an extra column and makes the ctrl way easier to use. On top of that, a mouse with multiple thumb keys is a godsend, barely use my keyboard anymore apart from general movement and potions. Liked the vid!
Ye mouse keys are really really good, I never used esdf and it made ctrl feel harder to use for me personally. But actually swapping shift ctrl and alt to the mouse would be a great way of getting around this

If you have a mouse with extra button that can be macro'ed, you can put modifier on those. I put "ctrl" and "alt" on my mouse (for my right thumb to press). I feel hitting ctrl+q or alt+q more comfortable that way. Idk if m4 or m5 can be use as modifier button, but if you can... you can try m4+q instead of ctrl+q. And I totally agree it would be very helpful in a long time if we have a dedicated button (or combination of button) for personal major defensive cd, movement cd, healing, interrupt, and hard crowd control, etc, so no matter what class we play, we know we will press that particular button if we want to do that specific action. It can unconsciously make us react faster. I even bring that habit when I play any other game.
Yep its great advice, shifting your modifies onto your mouse if you can is a really clean way of giving your left hand less to do. I'm starting to use it now and its so much more comfortable. I'm the exact same on binds too, if I go to a new game interrupt is always on R!

I'm the exact same, started to play when I was younger and came back to it properly about 2 years ago now. I've played on and off in the past but not seriously since shadowlands released. It is so much harder than classic imo, especially after the talent changes, where most classes now have so many spells. Also these versions of dungeons are absolutely brutal. It's kinda crazy how hard they are. Keep going though you'll achieve your goals!
The Plater tips were especially good. I swapped from Threat Plates last week but found the menus in Plater a bit overwhelming. Since I started highlighting mobs and casts that need to be interrupted my runs have been going so much more smoothly. I have been wondering how some people seemed to remember every single interrupt, but now I know it's not just an iron memory. MDT is the one I have but not yet used to its fullest as I don't have a static group. I feel I am perfectly capable of getting KSM (and I have) but I know I can still improve. Definitely would find some coaching valuable but most "coaching" services are boosters. Happy holidays!

Wow isn't that much of a skill game, it's much more of a knowledge based game imo. If you know what mobs do, what your rotation should be etc, you can perform at the highest level imo. So the vod reviews should give you that dungeon to dungeon knowledge you need

Ye, I've got it as mythic dungeon tools in the description/time stamps. I spooned it because of the add-on called method raid tools. They're so closely named my sleep deprived brain just had it as method for whatever reason.
It also used to be called method dungeon tools before the whole method Josh drama and the raid team leaving to form echo. So it's a very understandable mistake to make.

Thanks for making a video explaining a lot of this. I just recently switched from ThreatPlates to Plater and found your set up. I was wondering one thing though. I am leveling an alt and its the first time using plater with your profile and a lot of the mobs healthbars are orange instead of gray. I know that in the dungeons that means you should check for stuns/cc but why would the proto drakes be orange out in the world? Sometimes some of the mobs start out with an orange bar and go to gray after a bit. Not a big deal, just wondering.
Glad you're finding it useful! Thata for quest mobs. So you might have had a quest that was kill 15 proto drakes. Proto drakes will be an orange colour until you kill them. Hope that helps, all the best ❤️
Backpaddling is deff frowned upon :D if i see someone backpaddle out of a mechanic and die im laughing out loud :D. That being said being a tanky boy ur right i need that button else my melee starts complaining that i move to fast :D: Edit= Noticed u mentioned shift modifier, can use alt and ctrl aswell, i dont use ctrl for much for alt 123 for arena focus1 to 3, alt e, alt q. Moar buttons! :D
Ooo, that's a good idea. I didn't think about rebinding caps. Would be nice if you could get it to work just for wow too but not sure if that would work

I moved movement keys one key to right, this way i have my pinky close to Z and A. Z is sinister strike and A is Ambush for me. Also Q is then close to reach. Way more keys available.

Figured it out, had to go in buffs in plater and turn on the 2nd bar then add vamp touch, pain, plague, mind games in the manual debuffs. Now it’s so clean!!
Is there anyone who found a way to show debuffs on enemy npc nameplates with this plater profile? I copied everything, but I can't figure out how to make debuffs visible.
some criticism for your setup: Q is one of the best buttons and therefore should be used for something that you use a lot, and allocating it for blind is a waste. otherwise great content!
I do the same where the q,e,r buttons that are easiest to use are my reactionary oh shit buttons. I hopefully don't need them often but want to have them somewhere easy to get to so I can use them the fastest.
@@galeaggtv i do something similar. my reactionary buttons for interrupts, stuns, etc, are 1-2-3 (if i have more than 3 spells then adding modifiers). My most frequent damaging abilites should be on the keys that i am able to spam, even while moving. That's why those are on q-e-r-f-z-x-c. I also find it very important to have spells on mwheelup and mwheeldown (and i changed zoom buttons on ctrl+mwheelup/down) and mouse4/mouse5, since these mouse buttons can be used regardless of movement during the encounter. The rest of the setup is the same, i.e. adding modifiers to these, using t-g-v-b for something less common etc. Also important advice is to unbind some default buttons like opening a character window from C to free these up for important casts.
The one with my CC abilities in? I just pulled out my CC into a separate bar and moved it up, I go over how I do it in the video if you'd like to make your own version
Is there an option in plater to show which mobs have kickable abilities or a list of mobs to prioritize? I am aware of quite of few but do not know every single mob off the top of my head. Merry Christmas everyone!
Anything else than alt doesnt work for my hand, thats the problem I have :D Would it be possible to export your colouring scheme for the mobs, so we can import it into our plater profile? This would be awesome!
Hey, if you struggle to use things other than alt you can try binding shift and ctrl onto mouse buttons, any mouse that can rebind buttons would work. You can do that already, if you get my player profile, you can then just export the npc colours and class colours and swap them into your profile. Importing my profile won't delete your current set-up 👍

What about macro for swapping sinister strike when you have audacity proc for ambush? Is it possible? Also macro for damage cooldowns like, vanish, ad + rtb for loaded dice bonus?
You cant macro them unfortunately, when you see the changes its just when I'm in stealth/shadowdance. As for combining other things, I don't combine them I just keep everything separate. If I had to, I would combine AR+RtB, but even then there are times I want to use them separately
alt + X is just thumb plus my index finger, feels very natural to me, one of the easier binds to be honest. I dislike ctrl 5 and shift T of the keybinds I use frequently, they aren't comfortable at all
That's what I use the orange cast bars for, so most yellow mobs should have an orange cast in there too. Hopefully that helps, I may have missed a couple of must kicks. But 95% of the mist kicks should be orange cast bars
yes absolutely, if you go to my discord you can head to the UI channel and all of my settings are there for you to import. You can import it in the profiles section of the plater addon

Another commenter mentioned that they rebind mouse buttons to shift control and alt. My brother had a Corsair mmo mouse, you could look at getting one of these if you want.
Thanks for the video. But I really really don't understand your macros, you go through them extremely briefly while lots of things happens on the screen and players like me with no previous understanding of macros, is hung out to dry a bit. I watched your macro segments twice and I still don't know what they're good for.
Quick run-down of the macros I normally use - this is the same as what I say in the video but it might be better if you can read it? Appreciate that there is a lot of information thrown at you at once. Focus target macros let you cast an ability on a focus enemy, that you're not currently targeting. This means you can focus a mob and always use your stuns or kicks on them even if you're damaging another enemy. Mouseover macros let you cast an ability on an enemy with your mouse, rather than having to click on them. Saves you some time if you need to cast different abilities on different enemies all the time. Cursor macros let you cast an ability at your cursor, when it would normally have a green area of affect that you have to aim. Instead you just cast at your mouse, again this saves you having to click on the ground all the time. Help/harm macros lets you save keybinds by combining healing spells with offensive spells. Depending on who you have targetted a different spell is cast. So for example if you play shaman you can combine healing wave and lightning bolt into the same keybind. So if you have a friendly player selected it would cast healing wave, or if you have an enemy selected it would cast lightning bolt, saving you keybinds. Honestly though, macros aren't a core aspect of M+ - getting your keybinds and UI organised would be the most beneficial thing when starting out. The most helpful macros would probably be the help/harms macros as they directly affect the numbers of buttons you have to memorise and press.
Is it weird that I hold right-click 100 percent of the time when I play, and that's how I move? I use all my keybindings on my mouse 1-12 shift 1-12 and ctrl 1-12 and I use them all. lol. Have Q, R, F, G, set up for placement spells or abilities, stance change (depending on what I'm playing of course), potions and mount. Mouse middle button left and right for trinkets etc these change depending on what I need them for. Anyway, always thought it was cool to hear other peoples set ups thought id share mine, been doing it for years and it just works for me.
Not that wierd at all, but assume you target enemies using tab targeting only then? I use my mouse for target swapping a lot, so need to be able to move with WASD and target at the same time
@@galeaggtv I tab and click the target with left click just depends on the situation a ton of targets ill click a few ill tab, I only hold right click not both left and right so I'm the left is free'd up to click whenever needed. I still move with WASD and hold right click at all times for easy turning and constant camera control. Don't know why I started doing it like that, but it has stuck and it feels weird to do anything different.
Hey, a kick uses an interrupt ability on a cast. A stop uses a CC, so a stun, or an incapacitate effect such as kidney shot or blind, to stop the target from casting. These casts which require a stop typically cannot be interrupted with abilites like kick.
You'll be absolutely fine, just get started whenever you want. And take your time with it, don't feel any pressure. I've got 390 ilvl at the minute, but honestly most of my gear is from +10s which you can do with 370ilvl imo.
@@galeaggtv You can do +10's with 370ilvl gear but noone will invite you to those with that gear atm. Only hope is own key but it might go up or down and it's a grind.
@@galeaggtv thanks bro, I know it's just FOMO tbh... I'm maining monk for the first time currently 383 ilevel and raiding heroic. Just been super unlucky with M+ loot and guildies with more time are pushing towards 400 now. I know eventually it levels off towards the end of the season though

It's sucks I can't use keyboard for lots of thing because of my carpal tunnel I can't feel most of my keys I have to add little risers to even feel the movement keys

You should suggset that people use ESDF instead of WASD, or even RDFG. First, it allows you to find your place quicker with the little bump on the F key. It also opens up 3 new bindable keys that are easy to press. The only thing with RDFG is that alt becomes hard to press, so ESDF is super convienent for 3 extra, easy to press keys.
I can't play with esdf, it hurt my wrist too much trying to hit shift/ctrl. My wrist was really awkwardly placed trying to get my pink in position. I also found esdf hard to hit alt, I could, but it felt wierd. Overall I don't struggle with WASD at all, I've got more keybinds than I've needed on any class I've played. And that's without a mmorpg mouse.
@@galeaggtv Get a mouse with two side buttons, bind one to alt and one to shift. No hand movement required. Or just get an orbweaver/tartarus and move with the thumbstick.
Do U really push 1-5? Or maybe U use special mouse for that? I find, for my self so hard to push 1-5. Maybe this is because I use cheap flat keyboard with low profile buttons. Should I use mechanical keyboard with high profile keys?
1-5 are pretty easy to use for me, a keyboard with mechanical keys will be much better for sure. I can't play on those keyboards with really flat keys either, it was really jarring last time I tried

Quazii makes a great one. Green for focus, purple for interupts. Yellow cast bar for normal interupt, orange cast bar for mandatory interupts.

You can use the Windows tool SharpKeys to rebind your caps lock to ctrl. Makes it easier to reach.

Is there an option in plater to show which mobs have kickable abilities or a list of mobs to prioritize? I am aware of quite of few but do not know every single mob off the top of my head. Merry Christmas everyone!

Hey, if you struggle to use things other than alt you can try binding shift and ctrl onto mouse buttons, any mouse that can rebind buttons would work.
You can do that already, if you get my player profile, you can then just export the npc colours and class colours and swap them into your profile. Importing my profile won't delete your current set-up 👍

What about macro for swapping sinister strike when you have audacity proc for ambush? Is it possible? Also macro for damage cooldowns like, vanish, ad + rtb for loaded dice bonus?
You cant macro them unfortunately, when you see the changes its just when I'm in stealth/shadowdance.
As for combining other things, I don't combine them I just keep everything separate.
If I had to, I would combine AR+RtB, but even then there are times I want to use them separately
How do you do this Finger Yoga? Or you stop moving when you press ALT + X for example
alt + X is just thumb plus my index finger, feels very natural to me, one of the easier binds to be honest.
I dislike ctrl 5 and shift T of the keybinds I use frequently, they aren't comfortable at all
Is there any way to get your plater settings for mob bars coloring based on needs to be interupted and such?
That's what I use the orange cast bars for, so most yellow mobs should have an orange cast in there too.
Hopefully that helps, I may have missed a couple of must kicks. But 95% of the mist kicks should be orange cast bars

@@mrmoveup I find it easier to use a macro to tricks to your focus target and then just make the tank your focus at the start of the key/instance

I am not able to use shift, control, or alt modifiers where I need to hit a modifier and a key with the same hand. It just feels unnatural.
Another commenter mentioned that they rebind mouse buttons to shift control and alt.
My brother had a Corsair mmo mouse, you could look at getting one of these if you want.
Thanks for the video. But I really really don't understand your macros, you go through them extremely briefly while lots of things happens on the screen and players like me with no previous understanding of macros, is hung out to dry a bit. I watched your macro segments twice and I still don't know what they're good for.
Quick run-down of the macros I normally use - this is the same as what I say in the video but it might be better if you can read it? Appreciate that there is a lot of information thrown at you at once.
Focus target macros let you cast an ability on a focus enemy, that you're not currently targeting. This means you can focus a mob and always use your stuns or kicks on them even if you're damaging another enemy.
Mouseover macros let you cast an ability on an enemy with your mouse, rather than having to click on them. Saves you some time if you need to cast different abilities on different enemies all the time.
Cursor macros let you cast an ability at your cursor, when it would normally have a green area of affect that you have to aim. Instead you just cast at your mouse, again this saves you having to click on the ground all the time.
Help/harm macros lets you save keybinds by combining healing spells with offensive spells. Depending on who you have targetted a different spell is cast. So for example if you play shaman you can combine healing wave and lightning bolt into the same keybind. So if you have a friendly player selected it would cast healing wave, or if you have an enemy selected it would cast lightning bolt, saving you keybinds.
Honestly though, macros aren't a core aspect of M+ - getting your keybinds and UI organised would be the most beneficial thing when starting out. The most helpful macros would probably be the help/harms macros as they directly affect the numbers of buttons you have to memorise and press.

Is it weird that I hold right-click 100 percent of the time when I play, and that's how I move? I use all my keybindings on my mouse 1-12 shift 1-12 and ctrl 1-12 and I use them all. lol. Have Q, R, F, G, set up for placement spells or abilities, stance change (depending on what I'm playing of course), potions and mount. Mouse middle button left and right for trinkets etc these change depending on what I need them for. Anyway, always thought it was cool to hear other peoples set ups thought id share mine, been doing it for years and it just works for me.
Not that wierd at all, but assume you target enemies using tab targeting only then?
I use my mouse for target swapping a lot, so need to be able to move with WASD and target at the same time
@@galeaggtv I tab and click the target with left click just depends on the situation a ton of targets ill click a few ill tab, I only hold right click not both left and right so I'm the left is free'd up to click whenever needed. I still move with WASD and hold right click at all times for easy turning and constant camera control. Don't know why I started doing it like that, but it has stuck and it feels weird to do anything different.

What's the difference between kick and stops
Hey, a kick uses an interrupt ability on a cast. A stop uses a CC, so a stun, or an incapacitate effect such as kidney shot or blind, to stop the target from casting. These casts which require a stop typically cannot be interrupted with abilites like kick.

You'll be absolutely fine, just get started whenever you want. And take your time with it, don't feel any pressure.
I've got 390 ilvl at the minute, but honestly most of my gear is from +10s which you can do with 370ilvl imo.
@@galeaggtv You can do +10's with 370ilvl gear but noone will invite you to those with that gear atm. Only hope is own key but it might go up or down and it's a grind.
@@galeaggtv thanks bro, I know it's just FOMO tbh... I'm maining monk for the first time currently 383 ilevel and raiding heroic. Just been super unlucky with M+ loot and guildies with more time are pushing towards 400 now. I know eventually it levels off towards the end of the season though
I use a Logitech g13. I like having a thumb stick for movement.
How does that work? Do you play without WASD then?
I use my mouse for movement and i cant unlearn it wish i just started with W for movement
I use both, you can probably learn to play with it but it might take a while

I mean blizzard has added score into the game already? Raider.io just means that you can see if a player has an alt etc. Don't think it changes too much now
It's sucks I can't use keyboard for lots of thing because of my carpal tunnel I can't feel most of my keys I have to add little risers to even feel the movement keys
Man that does suck, hope you can find something that helps, I don't know if it would work for you but mmo mouse's are a good way of moving keybinds away from wasd. I assume you've already looked into this but small chance you've not

You should suggset that people use ESDF instead of WASD, or even RDFG. First, it allows you to find your place quicker with the little bump on the F key. It also opens up 3 new bindable keys that are easy to press. The only thing with RDFG is that alt becomes hard to press, so ESDF is super convienent for 3 extra, easy to press keys.
I can't play with esdf, it hurt my wrist too much trying to hit shift/ctrl. My wrist was really awkwardly placed trying to get my pink in position.
I also found esdf hard to hit alt, I could, but it felt wierd.
Overall I don't struggle with WASD at all, I've got more keybinds than I've needed on any class I've played. And that's without a mmorpg mouse.
@@galeaggtv Get a mouse with two side buttons, bind one to alt and one to shift. No hand movement required. Or just get an orbweaver/tartarus and move with the thumbstick.
Yeah Ive heard that from a lot of people, although I cant imagine my life without the extra binds.

Buy an MMO mouse, it makes using key binds 10 times easier. Dont know how people play competitively without one

Do U really push 1-5? Or maybe U use special mouse for that? I find, for my self so hard to push 1-5. Maybe this is because I use cheap flat keyboard with low profile buttons. Should I use mechanical keyboard with high profile keys?
1-5 are pretty easy to use for me, a keyboard with mechanical keys will be much better for sure. I can't play on those keyboards with really flat keys either, it was really jarring last time I tried
