    Got mine a few months ago...its a Godsend controller...works flawless in my studio as its automatically mapped to Ableton, Pro Tools,Logic Pro & Reaper. It works flawlessly in Ableton that I use live on stage as the knobs & faders are a breeze & it has aftertouch. Absolutely no glitches with Analog Labs & the V collections that comes along with it. I both giig & produce with this very light but powerful versatile compact machine that you can easily just carry under your arm to any venue....Frickin awesome controller & its affordable too....2 thumbs up for Arturia Keylab.

      Hey there! I'm looking for a keyboard that I can use to control my synths without having to put a computer inbetween. Its not eurorack, just desktop synths. Is this this, your, keyboard a good product for that purpose?

      @@thames21 no dude don't do it. I just bought a keylab mk 2 and it's fantastic, but it's crazy that they didn't put the sequencer and arp tech they have from the keystep into it. Just crazy. Literally the day after I bought my keylab I learned about about the novation SLmk3, which is pretty much perfect for what you (and I) want. Sequencer, arp, same control compatibility as the keylab, and easily set up to control your synths. Shame on me for not doing more research I guess

      It is the single greatest music company today for the “gutter artist” like myself. Can I play the piano? Fuck no. Am I now at my creative zenith at 57 yrs of age? Yes. Why? Arturia. It really is that easy. Get the V Collection, you will be astounded.

      @@malcolmbliss777 Heh, another guitar player here. I just bought the 88 key version of this. It's pretty mind blowing what you can do in no time. I really love it. I do have a Roland FP-30 as well, and the weighted action of the keys on that do stand head and shoulders above this. However, that is for piano playing. But man, this Arturia, along with the included software is an amazing package. I would recommend the 61 key version though.

    • @michaos1

      Novation SL MK3 has a sequencer, offers much better control over Ableton Live, has better control over multiple analog synths, has display per knob and more assignable buttons to your DAW and a whole lot of lights (which may be irritating)! Arturia has white color and Keylab. As for me, keyboard player/producer, I'd stick with Arturia cuz it's cheaper and has the best digital (but real) synth collection on the market.

    • @fredmanteghian5913
      @fredmanteghian5913 5 років тому +5

      The Novation looks like it will be a total creativity drain as you master the beast. The Arturia looks awesome on a million levels. I don’t use Ableton Live, just Pro Tools and for PT nothing seems to come close to Arturia mk2. Mine should ship tomorrow!

    • @danielmulholland5869
      @danielmulholland5869 5 років тому +2

      I like the layout of the keylab a lot more, but to be honest not putting a sequencer/arp in the keylab was a major mistake of arturias. If they had done that they would hands down have the best controller on the market. Novation beat them to it, and now it's basically a matter of whether you're more daw oriented or synth oriented. For synth heads, the SLmk3 beats the keylab every day. For daw heavy composers, it's still a pretty damn close tie. But I think the keylab pulls ahead slightly, although that's mostly due to my personal preference for the user layout and aesthetic. Because of that, I think the SLmk3 beats the keylab if they go head to head. That's said, my keylab is beautiful and I love it. Plus you get some really incredible plugins with it, so that's a major bonus

      @@fredmanteghian5913 I was tossing up between Keylab and Komplete Kontrol and decided on the Arturia because of its Protools support as well as the vastly superior amount of real time controls and those drum pads.

      Lenti Lenko now that I’ve had it over a year, I will tell you the positives are the keyboard response which is simply wonderful for what in use it for. I love the Arturia synths and have purchased the full collection 6 and now 7 of synths. For this the KeyLab MK2 works fantastically. The pads I spent time programming to put my favorite articulations for kick, snare, hi hats and Toms where I wanted them, but I find the keyboard a nice way to play drums (BFD3). My only regret and it is very mild, is I got the black version which looks great but sometimes it’s hard to read the labels. White may have been a better choice. Either way, love the keyboard and triple love the software.

    Acoustic pianos?

  • @realcygnus
    @realcygnus 3 роки тому

    These are some total noob questions..... But this seems like a good place to maybe get some quick input ......So, I haven't had a keyboard of ANY sort for about 20 years now(just acoustic instruments).....I had a fatar 88 weighed key controller & a Korg X5-DR half rack synth unit & I was happy as hell with it at the time & probably still would be.........& I knew the basics of MIDI back then But, I'm sure things have progressed somewhat.......I'm not interested in creating my own sounds with either soft or hardware synths as a few good presets were plenty for me ......... I'm mainly interested in 1) a great piano sound 2) good Rhodes/Whirly sounds & 3) the ability to layer like piano & strings ALL for "real-time" live playing mostly......I'm thinking about getting the SL88 studio & perhaps an old Triton or even just another X5-DR to go with it....... Does that sound stupid ?....... I'd think a modern VST would probably have even better piano samples than an old syth unit......but what I don't know is: What sort of polyphony can I expect thru USB with just a regular laptop or PC especially regarding layered sounds ? ....... Will it perform as good or better then my old get-up ? As I never had any note cutoff or anything ..........Or, would I need a very new/good PC or any other kind special hardware ? .......If so then what exactly off hand ?....... & if VST's VIA USB are as good or better even on a basic PC are there good free or cheap ones ? ...... If so, please recommend some. Anyway, Since hardware rack synths seem to be much less popular is it silly to be worrying about USB bandwidth/lag/latency & /or the power of my PC ? Anyone please. Thanks !

    Does this run without latency in Logic if I run it straight through USB? Or should I buy a new interface that offers midi? I just ordered this bad boy and was curious.

    Hi, now that it has been a year more - I am looking for a beginner MIDI piano that will be portable and allowed in economy class hand carry airlines specifically from saudi or canada to philippines, my country.
    I want something to learn with as a beginner and will last a lifetime - same with roland fp30x but I want it to be way lighter - either synth or real weighted piano. Pls help ❤
    I am looking forward to buying this Arturia mkii black 61 keys color to be shipped to saudi arabia khobar.
    I just bought roland fp30x from a music store yesterday - but i will return it back because good review videos I watched for asturia mkii ❤️
    I never played piano but I am really willing to learn.
    1.) One also concern is - if you take this piano to your gigs - what is the most portable piano stand for the arturia mkii 61 keys - that can be modified to carry apple laptop too?
    If not please recommend the best/sturdy portable keyboard stand & separate laptop stand - both should be sturdy and easy to carry. Please refer yravel cases too for the keyboard stand and laptop stand.
    2.) Changing that built-in battery how hard is it to replace? Is it easily replaceable in any battery shops? Or the charger?
    3.) For travel - please refer to me a hard case & a softcase but padded in case i can take it as a carry on luggage.
    4.) What other accessories should I buy together with the keyboard including speakers and such because i do not know well. Assume that I have this keyboard asturia mkii 61 keys and an macbook laptop - what else would i need to buy to complete my initiial setup and that O can play and learn?
    With much anticipation and excitement,
    Isagani

    Great review.

    How do you rate the aftertouch on this? I bought the white 61 key version, but the aftertouch is very jumpy - goes almost straight from 0 to 100% with just a few intermediate steps, and the curve of recorded AT events looks like a square wave, compared to the AT curve, generated by my Deepmind 12 keyboard which is almost sine wave looking like and with much more intermediate steps. The aftertouch on KeyLab is almost unusable and the different aftertouch curves don't introduce any difference.

    I am so freagin' glad that I purchased V-Collection 7! I've been on board since V-Collection 3.
    Alex and Jack: I own an older Arturia "Analog Experience - the Laboratory" 61-key MIDI keyboard w/ after touch. V-Collection 7 recognizes it and it is apparently mapped in the software? Are there any advantages to me switching to the KeyLab Mk2 keyboard??? FYI, I'm not all that into using pads, so having less of these is not important to me. Thanks for your help! Cheers!
