The games also made them much bigger and stronger. Orcs are supposed to be significantly smaller and weaker than men. The only way they can beat men, elves or dwarves is with sheer numbers. The big, strong orcs in the games are the complete opposite. At least in Shadow of Mordor, they explained that these are not ordinary orcs but rather Uruks (Uruk-hai, i suppose) and you could even see the difference between them and ordinary orcs, because Ratbag was an ordinary orc. In Shadow of War, they just call them orcs and there are no non-Uruk orcs to be seen.
@@Longshanks1690 I wonder, do you remember me? My skull still aches from our last meeting. You thought you'd killed me, but you only brought me never-ending pain. Now the only relief I get is inflicting pain on others. Let me demonstrate!
He keeps coming back because the dude has to cut off his head in order to kill him for good. Ratbag even hints at it, saying "now, if you wanna get rid of 'em for good, you gotta pop their head off! Well, at least I *think* that'll get rid of 'em for good" Or something along those lines
@@christopheredwards9904 wrong actually. Found out recently I beat the game and cut off the heads of my enemies and they returned looking like Frankenstein's monster. Body all weird looking like it's been put together by a maniac.
It takes an otherwise repetitive and plain open world arpg like any other you've played, and makes it special. The nemesis system truly enabled some amazing gameplay moments in both games.
I love that he still has the ironskull title, like the other uruks are just like, "ah, there goes garl. He'll be back in a minute, nothing to worry about" "shouldn't we give him a new title? Like 'death-cursed' or something?" "Nah his hat's more noteworthy"
I had an orc like this in Shadow of Mordor, he was an ordinary orc that got the finishing blow on me and was promoted to captain, I killed him, he came back with only one eye, killed him again, he comes back with a patch on his neck, he gets promoted to Veteran, kill him again, he comes back with a sack on his head, killed him again, he comes back with a peg-leg, then he's finally promoted to Warchief, and I killed him permanently. Final kill count- 13
I remember an orc in SoM that I managed to kill only twice. Then he became ridiculously overpowered, being able to dodge all finishers, detecting me no matter how I try to sneak up on him, and kill beasts almost instantly (even those huge things the name of which I forgot, but when I first saw them I thought they were trolls). Oh, he also had a poison blade. Ended up having to run away from him every time until I got the ability to get the orcs under my control, and I made him my immortal cannon fodder.
Kronos this happened to me in mordor too this on Orc came with one eye a sack over his head two peg legs and a hook arm. I got annoyed so I threw him off the edge of the map. 24-fucking times
Guess what? If they are cut, poisoned, blown and beaten real good before falling, almost torn to shred. Any orc can die because of falling from a "survivable height". Since there is a nearly dying orc already.
This hapend to me. He was a maniac that got enraged by everything, was fire proof , enraged by frezze, poison proof, arrow proof and execucion proof. Sorry for my english
I've got an orc called grible, he only says WEE WOO and has died several times but always comes back. He remains loyal after each death. I love you, big wee woo man.
"You're sick! And you deserve pain!" He's right and that applies to all the shadow of mordor/war players. The things we've done to them...fight your blood brother in the pit for my amusement? Yep.
To be fair many of them are slavers, cannibals, head collectors, and mass murderers. Plus they use more skulls in their decorating than the France crypts
Btw fighting blood brothers in the pit is terribly fun. There's an achievement for having one blood brother kill the other. But it didn't work for me in the fight pits. I'm guessing you have to dominate one and send him after the brother still under Sauron's control.
If you're wondering why he retreats so often, it's because he's a trickster so he leads you into an ambush and disappears. The only reason you never found out was because he had no chance to run. The easy way to tell if it's a fake or not is if they become broken or not. Captains retreating in terror will be broken regardless of their hp, tricksters will not.
I think I met him a couple times already. One persistent character that. Love how he keeps coming back. These guys are too funny. Giving all kind of chats still when getting beaten to a frazzle and even when dying to boot. Gotta love em.
Repetitive dialogue, changing wardrobe, constant presence despite being no real threat and having many reasons to just avoid the protagonist, should have found much better things to do with his time, gifts and skills? He IS a precursor to Team Rocket!
I had a similar experience with an assassin who just kept coming back from the dead over and over, but his one weakness that he always had was being able to be 1 hit killed by an arrow headshot. It was so funny because he'd just keep showing up while I was fighting other orcs and just get domed and then I'd go back to what I was doing before.
I can confirm that. I encountered him recently. Garl Ironskull in the flesh. Same name, same title, same quotes, new face. I even yeeted him off the walkway just for a laugh at the expense of his PTSD.
I once had an orc called "The Machine" that I, no fucking joke, had to have killed a minimum of 40 times. I could not escape. I was beginning to think i was in some infinite time loop. Every second of every play session I feared he'd be around the next corner. To this day my biggest fear is booting up Shadow of War and hearing that painfully familiar "HELLO PINK SKIN, DID YOU MISS ME".
I had a character in nurnen simply named, Flak Crush, his vocabulary only consisted of: "Crush, Crusher, Crushed, Crushes". He was with me when I first entered nurned. When I met him he ambushed me and it said he had cheated death, I don't remember killing him so I assume he was killed by a captain. I recruited him and that started our adventure. He saved me numerous times by defending me from enemies and even saved me from getting executed by a captain with no chance. When Bruz betrayed me he got captured by him, I rescued him and 2 other captains and we went to attack Bruz. I lost 2 great captains then, but not Flak. I ordered him to retreat so he wouldn't die. Eventually we get to that part where you have that epic siege on that bridge when you lose the bright lord. He was there and was destroying grunts and I distinctly remember him picking up a grunt and he threw him on the ground and the grunt died and he said "CRUSHED". I pimped him out with training orders and he became legendary, had a cursed weapon, and a gang. Here is the sad part, I was defending nurnen in shadow wars and he was bleeding out and I couldn't get to him because I was getting my ass handed to me and if I left we would've lost the objective eventually I had the ability to run and try to save him, I got poisoned along the way so I couldn't focus run. I arrived too late and he bled out. Eventually he comes back with a iron mask to serve me again. He was a higher level so he was more reliable. We were out wandering nurnen and there's a rebellion of 5 of my captains, a graug, a bunch of grunts, 4 caragors, and 3 enemy captains. We were getting raped but we battled, I called in a graug and the most epic fight ensued. I took out 4 of my traitor captains and 1 of the enemy captains, all the caragors and a bunch of grunts. But, flak got killed by an enemy captain. His final words were, "Crusher..... crushed......". I actually raged and annihilated everyone by myself. I'm not the kind of guy to get attached to a character but I did, ask the captains I killed to avenge him EDIT: the saddest thing happened, I was doing the Carnan quests and I was doing the mission where you're in minas morgul and there he was, resurrected. We locked eyes as talion stared in disbelief as his old friend, the one he conquered mordor with was right there, but unable to say a word.
I mean, he could only say four variations on that ONE WORD to begin with, so...not much of a loss when you think about it. Still, that's a compelling tale, I admit.
Just Me what part of the game r u on? Don't read if u don't want spoilers but it was the final carnan mission vs zog and i think it was a who's who of the orcs I've fought including the nemesis who i beheaded. They were all zombies and just mumbled lol.
I played Shadow of Mordor recently and I had an Orc, who came back 4 times, he always tried retreating too. Edit: OMG!!! I bought Shadow of War, and I encountered the same Orc from the previous game in the arena mission. He said something like "It's been a long time since we met, and a long way from here"
Happened to me too, in shadow of mordor there was a orc called Tuka, he killed me many times and i killed him also, he came back as the last boss of the arena, after that he came back again lel
I found one of my Mates, from Shadow of Mordor. He was, a Assassin/Hunter. He unfortunately died. Because, one or his deadly weakness was "Caragor Food", and what happened? A beast master, tossed one of these withe, Caragors. F to pay Respect for Krimp The Cursed Mystic Assassin.
Ercan Teke it happens if youve got shadow of mordor and war on the same system, dumbass "pics or it didn't happen" like this shit isnt the youtube comment section.
God, I had a guy like this back in Shadow of Mordor. The main difference being that he had both immune to execution and arrow-proof, so any time he showed up he was an absolute chore to take care of. He ended up being the nemesis that transferred over into Shadow of War *and* one of the captains that got reanimated after I finally killed him
@@puzzle_girl47 yeah, it's actually a proper feature, whichever uruk ends up killing you the most in SoM is the one that will cross into the next game. The Nemesis system is honestly the best thing about these games

He kept coming back so I claimed him and he betrayed me. Now he's on his shit again except he has iron will and he won't die. Send help. Pls.
WOAH I had Hoshgrish the Assassin too! I had to kill him nine times... after the third time he renamed himself to Hoshgrish the Uncatchable (He also escaped a lot which made him really frustrating). In the end I got him to low health, went out of site, and burned him in a grog fire. It's kinda funny, no matter how leveled he became he was always clumsy, so every time I met him I'd just grab him and shank him into submission. Btw this is before I could dominate.
had an orc named shaka the unkillable. he lived up to his name and followed me from cirith ungol to lithlad, killed him more than 5 times till i finally recruited him for my final siege mission. good times 😁
Nunyabisness I feel you. I had Krakkorn the manhunter. Cleved him and now he was Krakkorn the machine. I endes him and his blood brother after the hell he put me through in shadow of mordor.
Nunyabisness I one time had a orc betray me and killed me a few times than I finally killed him by cutting him in half THEN HE CAME BACK AS THE MACHINE then he killed me a few more times then I killed him again THEN HE CAME BACK BECAUSE OF THE ZOG STORY LINE note this all happened my first play through of the game I was SO shocked how he just would not stay dead
Yeah thats the machine i usually get him as my nemesis from the first game because i cleave the nemesis forge orc in the arena and he comes back as the first and only machine, but i ended up with some random other one that i cleaved twice and he came back like nothing happened even though the other two times i killed him took the arm and leg from each time and replaced them with peg leg and hook arm properly
I met an orc called "The pickler". He went everywhere with a jar of pickles in his back. Killed him around 3 times, the guy converted into a robot, and I needed to have a robot with a jar of pickles in my army. He's still alive, eating pickles with his robotic mouth in one of the fortresses.
Anyone feel they just got tired of naming Uruks, so they just took normal names and changed one letter. "I like the name Karl... no, not uruk enough, how about GARL."
I remember sitting in my chair, with my cup of soda as I watched this video. A glorious time seeing him continue to say his line over and over again. But then, out of nowhere, I hear a faint shout from the outside of my home *Still alive!*
I had an Uruk like this in Seregost, he kept surviving no matter how often I butchered him like a dog. Eventually I got sick of it and just shamed him, the last time I saw him he did nothing else other than shout ''Die, Tark, Die!'' all the time no matter if he was fighting me or another Uruk. I don't know if he yet lives as I haven't encountered him again.
His account kept being deleted by UA-cam because he was dead and had less than five subs, so he had to make a brand new account each and every time. We are currently at eight.
man, i laughed so hard everytime he repeated "Still Alive". glad to see you put him out of his misery, poor fella. and nice victory dance moves by the way, awesome.
I had one like this from the first game. He adapted to ALL weaknesses and be was invincible. I used my captains on a story mission and murdered then all single handedly
This reminds me of a Uruk I fought in shadow of mordor. I think he was a “doctor” or something. When it came down to it he had the problem of being insta-killed by stealth. BUT 5 separate times he came back. So I decided “screw it.” I recruited him, only to pop his head.
I had this same problem, but with like 3 orcs who refused to die no matter how hard I tried, and they were some of the first orchestra I fought and yet somehow one of them still lives after years of putting him through turmoil
"Some of the first orchestra I fought". Now I'm imagining a couple of bard orcs in the background providing instrumentals while a few more rhyming orcs are in the front singing in 3 part harmony as they march up to you. It's... it's beautiful 🥲
Ah yes, this happened to me as well. It was back in Minas Ithil, when I was still just beginning the game. There was an orc captain by the name of Pûg, now Pûg the Survivor because I have decapitated him, burned him alive, cleaved him in half widthwise, thrown him off a watchtower, shot him to death, and poisoned him to death. All this, and Pûg still fights on...
I say shame him down to level 1 and decapitate him. Or recruit him, level him up to level 80, make him Legendary, let him bleed out, then Resurrect him as an Undead. He'll never betray you and he'll never level down if he dies again
Its 2018 and Im still alive. Im still not dead ! I wonder, do you remember me ? My skull still aches from our last meeting. You thought you'd killed me, but you only brought me never-ending pain. Now the only relief I get is inflicting pain on others. Let me demonstrate!

That is correct. They have dialogue when you send one after Sauron’s. Don’t intervene though, or yours will betray you.

If you're wondering why he retreats so often, it's because he's a trickster so he leads you into an ambush and disappears. The only reason you never found out was because he had no chance to run. @@Foil09 lmao thanks for reminding me of this
I had a character in nurnen simply named, Flak Crush, his vocabulary only consisted of: "Crush, Crusher, Crushed, Crushes". I'm not the kind of guy to get attached to a character but I did, ask the captains I killed to avenge him
EDIT: the saddest thing happened, I was doing the Carnan quests and I was doing the mission where you're in minas morgul and there he was, resurrected. We locked eyes as talion stared in disbelief as his old friend, the one he conquered mordor with was right there, but unable to say a word.
I mean, he could only say four variations on that ONE WORD to begin with, so...not much of a loss when you think about it.
