    Hope you had a great birthday and the tooth is on the mend.
    Dandelions are amazing food, it's generally the first thing available for bee's and other insects in spring.
    Great video as always Matty thanks for sharing I'm sure to give the dandelion coffee ago. ☕👍

      It was a nice relaxing day, thank you ☺ tooth is see still bad but I'm staying optimistic.
      It's certainly one of them. The bees absolutely love the willow in the spring, love hearing the bushes buzzing away, far more nutritious than the dandelion for the bee too.
      Thank you so much that's really appreciated ☺ please do, I'm sure you will love it 😍

      Do you have the Spanish dandelion / false dandelion? It has thin stems that aren't hollow, often has multiple flower heads per stem too ☺

    Hope your Birthday was a good one mine was on 14th
    The sound of river so soothing
    It is amazing what nature's Larder gives.
    It does take knowledge, time and patience but if I could choose hours trolling round shops v hours in woods I know what I would pick.
    Hope that tooth gets sorted soon

      Happy birthday for the 14th ☺
      It is beautiful down by the river, does get very loud after a good rain though so I was grateful it didn't ruin the audio 😝
      I couldn't agree with you more. The shop isn't a place I like to be but the woods, well that's a whole different thing, fills me with happy chemicals ☺
      I doubt it will. Long waiting list, but I'll survive and I appreciate your support 💚

    Dandelion coffee is beautiful, it has such a lovely caramel undertone. It is quite some effort to process yerself though 😅 The tortoise gets first dibs on the flowers in the garden anyways.
    Chicory root is another alternative, also high in inulin, I wasn’t fussed on it though as it wasn’t as smooth, definitely more bitter.
    I’ve never considered a flower burger as an option before 😃 but you got me intrigued there Matty.. I’ll have to test it out next spring and possibly the syrup also! Awesome video again 🙂

    • @TheWoodlandNomad
      @TheWoodlandNomad  Рік тому +1

      Right? I think it's got such an amazing flavour, and for it to be medicinal too is a massive bonus. Haha yeah I think I'll buy online next time 😂
      Hmm I'll have to give Chicory root a shot sometime ☺
      I'd recommend it, honestly so much better than you'd expect and you can season with any number of herbs and spices, or syrup like you say 🤤 thank you 🙏

    Thank you for the video especially the tiktok one as I have wanted to do something with dandelions for ages but a bit worried to as most recipes are in print format. My small house has a huge garden and every year we get a carpet of dandelions. We do have a dog who oddly only toilets at the farthest perimeter of the garden and seems to be very odd in that she will only walk around the edges of the garden too and not cross where the dandelions grow, so I know they are pure. Plus I do not believe in using chemicals on my garden either that are harmful to wildlife and my dog. I love honey so shall be making the dandelion honey asap.

    • @TheWoodlandNomad
      @TheWoodlandNomad  Рік тому

      Amazing, sounds like you'll be making all sorts of tasty goodness with your dandelions then 😁 Such a misunderstood plant with incredible health benefits, enjoy ☺♥

    Leave them for the Bee's 🐝🐝🐝🐝🙏

    • @TheWoodlandNomad
      @TheWoodlandNomad  Рік тому +1

      They've actually found that bees prefer almost any other flower to the dandelion, dandelions lack vital amino acids and nutrients that bees need. So they only go for dandelions when that's all there is. The willow trees are buzzing with activity at the moment and I genuinely didn't see a single bee near the dandelions the entire time I foraged. Plus there are 10s of thousands throughout the fields around so me taking ~50 has had no impact. Bees do need protecting however, I agree with you there.

      Oh common Buddahbob
      Are you serious?
      I agree dont spray them to kill them -but really? Dont you think using dandillions for healthy recipes is better than big pharma?

    • @TheWoodlandNomad

      I was in the field for almost two hours and didn't see one. Went past the willow, primrose, violets and wood sorrel and they were all over the place ☺ in very early spring the bees need everything they can get but we've got so many trees and flowers in full swing now a few dandelions won't go a miss 😁 🌸
