      Yessss mate! Love St. George's mushrooms! It's my birthday this weekend (St. Georges day) so it's basically my birthday mushroom. Plus it's bloody delicious! I've yet to find it in Scotland though unfortunately. Congrats on the Chaga, such a super weapon when it comes to natural medicine 🙏

      🥰 Thank you! Well hopefully with my videos you might have the confidence one day 🌿 I'll be doing videos about specific plants as they appear, might do a beginners series actually, a lot of people that watch my videos would appreciate a selection of foraging basics type videos I can imagine.
      Lovely wasn't it, was nice to find in the free stock audio to use ☺ I'll be using it again for sure 🎶

    Always enjoy your videos! Please show how to utilise dandelions - they clog up the garden so I always pick them but would be grateful to have a way to use them productively rather than treat them like a weed. And the more mushroom ID videos the better!

      Thank you for the suggestion. It seems several people want to know more about dandelions and also nettles so I'll be sure to do them next 😁 oh don't worry, I'm mushroom mad, there will always be mushroom videos coming 😂 🍄 😍

    Hello mate.
    Loved the video as always.
    That is indeed a squirrel trap but it's so they can be released humanely.
    I know someone who got the wild garlic mixed up and really didn't go well.
    Hope the tooth extraction goes well.
    Look forward to the next video 🙂

      I thought as much. Glad to see it was a humane one as I know there are reds further up the way.
      Ooft, not good 😬 Confidence can be a dangerous thing in the foraging world. I'll never assume, always do my checklist.
      Thank you, me too mate 🤞

    • @TheWoodlandNomad
      @TheWoodlandNomad  Рік тому +1

      It's really is. Was speaking to my mum about it and she was saying that maybe we evolved to get such bad pain in our teeth so that we'd be compelled to remove them, even ask cave men, just rip them out because of course infected teeth could have meant game over back in the day. Feeling a lot better today thank you, van open my jaw more than 15mm now haha.
      Aw yaay, I'm not the only one. It's super satisfying to do as well isn't it? ☺

      @@TheWoodlandNomadGood to hear your feeling better, Good point! The early humans likely didn't consume the amount of acids and sugar to get the tooth problems we get today, they probably had a good understanding of medical plants for pain relief, may have used methods to remove or treat teeth that's now lost in time. I read somewhere that a early human who had teeth would chew food for someone who had lost there teeth or was unable to chew themselves to help feed them. Yum!

    • @TheWoodlandNomad
      @TheWoodlandNomad  Рік тому +1

      No exactly. And I imagine if they got wisdom tooth issues they'd soon chip it out with something (getting Castaway vibes for sure) 😬
      It's a shame how much of our past is lost forever. Not many people know their wild medicines and herbs anymore. I know Meadowsweet is a good painkiller but too early in the year, unluckily for me.
      Mmmm, secondhand food, sounds wonderful 😂

    Love down to earth explanations and how strange my hairdresser last week was talking about healing properties of mushrooms and his love of foraging.
    Thanks for your reply on my question about your stove. I think I have located them and weird how things happen if it is the right place they have only just re opened after units they are based in had a fire.

      Hairdresser would say of me that I am the only client he can be himself as the last subject I want talk about is holidays, love island etc I like variety

    Hi Matty , how is your tooth ? I too am suffering toothache at the minute and wondered if you had any suggestions on pain relief? I'm actually doing a medicinal herb course but the only thing i have come up with so far is sage tea....
    Loving your videos !

      Sorry for the delay in seeing this 🙏 I'm on a waiting list with the NHS, so I'll maybe get seen in the next year or six 🙃
      As for home remedies, raw turmeric root is good, peal and cut a cm cube and pop it in your mouth and hold it in the affected area. Ginger shots are good too (juice with Turmeric and lemon). The Meadow sweet is flowering now, brew into tea for some pain relief. As for bringing down infection/inflammation I use oregano oil capsules (like a mild but natural antibiotic) and colidal silver spray on their area to help fight back bacteria. Regular salt water rinses too of course.
      Hope you're doing ok! 💚

      Thought as much. Is it to keep the grey population down? I know they have red squirrels in some of the neighbouring woodlands.

    • @ddthedogmanoutdoors
      @ddthedogmanoutdoors Рік тому

      @TheWoodlandNomad aye, it's a live trap to avoid killing non target species.
      It must of been forgotten about.
      Any trapping we do, all traps are mapped via GPS to avoid this.
      All traps must be checked once during a 24 hour period, but twice during breeding time, so any red females potentially nursing young can be released.
      Great video, we must meet up.
      Was that at Laurieston?

    • @TheWoodlandNomad
      @TheWoodlandNomad  Рік тому

      I thought it looked like a live trap, certainly wasn't designed to kill.
      Ah well at least it's hanging in a way that anything could get out should it enter.
      Thanks for the info.
      Aye, Loch Ken walking towards New Galloway, so close to Laurieston aye.
      That'd be sound mate. I'm away south after this surgery (whenever that might be).
