Perfectly clear! Our fridge isn't hooked up to a water line, so the ice maker was just taking up high value real estate. Removed it altogether, and now we have more space. I had tried this before when I got the fridge without success. The tabs were the secret. Thanks!

Clear and concise directions! My Kenmore Elite's bottom drawer was finicky. So I took it out in one piece. One suggestion: Add the comment about the "test switch" into your general description. It is an important step! Thanks so much!

Great video. I have the Kenmore version with the identical ice maker. Mine looks like the shutoff arm is damaged (hanging down further than it should). I think I'll replace it myself...

Glad its so simple to remove. Mine also froze over and shot water out the back. So happy to get it out, used that space for 3 dollars worth of really nice ice cube trays and 4 awesome sphere ice molds. Now there is zero risk of further water damage. Never would have guess the tabs are there. Thank you.

Great video! Very helpful. Makes the process very easy. Highly recommend you first try the reset button on the bottom of the ice maker to determine if it needs to be replaced. It fixed ours that was not working.

Nice to know that that this is a repair that most owners with even rudimentary tools and abilities could do themselves. Ice makers are usually the first thing to go bad on a refrigerator.

Tip: To calibrate how much water was coming into tray, pull inlet hose out of the back, hit reset manually, measure the water that comes out. I was able to retrieve one cube from my slabbed over tray, melted it down to "normal" size which turned out to be 1/2 oz. So for a 12 cube tray, 6 oz of water is what was needed to fill tray. I adjusted the water line valve, and no more over spray. You can start with 6 oz as a guide for your ice maker, or try to freeze a cube, thaw and measure it. No more overspray or icebergs. Good luck.

You can remove the ice maker without removing the bottom drawer and front. Just remove the top drawer and you should be able to remove it knowing where the screws, tabs, and the pin connector is.
I removed mine and found there was no ice chunks in the mechanism, and the water fill tube was clear of any ice at the tube from what I could see.
I plugged it back in, letting it hang loose and pressed in on the test button. The ice tray and arm all seemed to be moving and working. I put a cup in front of the fill tube when I did this as I thought water would rush forth to fill the ice tray. No water rushed forth. I think the unit has to be put back in place as there is probably a lockout to stop the water from flowing.
I connected it back in place and pressed in the test button for a few seconds. I heard a rush of water like it used to to fill the ice cube tray.
It is now working again. Some folks below say you have to press in the test button to calibrate and get it working with a new unit.
I think what might have happened is during an extended blackout, the ice maker lost calibration and stopped working. All I probably needed to do was recalibrate it and get it working again.

My dispense spout was frozen. This caused the water feed to blow out the back and onto the floor. Thankfully I caught it soon! I melted it with a hairdryer at the spout and at the hose-entry port at the back too. Solved for now!

AND to MAKE IT WORK you HAVE to CALIBRATE ice dispenser. or it will not fill with water and no ice as you guess, to calibrate it, bottom left side of ice maker small button ( NOT ON or OFF! its at side right.) you need to press it and hold a few seconds then dispenser will calibrate and fill water.

Our ice tray fell down into the container, with the back end still connected. I followed all of the instructions to remove the ice maker, reinstalled the tray and put it all back. It worked great for a short time, then the tray came loose again. Do I need to replace the unit or is there something else I can do? Thank you.

One step I noticed that was missing at the end of the video was once you’ve installed everything and plugged the refrigerator back up is to make sure you press the test switch which is located on the bottom of the new ice maker to get it going, thank me later 😉

Our ice maker fills with water and produces ice, but only dumps it with a manual ice dump by pressing and holding the reset button every time. I have to remember to do it ever few hours, or it will never dump on its own. Has anyone else experienced this? Was it fixed with an ice maker replacement or something else?

Look at S1ayeR response above, mine was the same way, but press and holding the reset button under the L front of the ice maker resulted in the ice maker cycling through a cycle which includes the arm going down then up, the cube part rotating. Ice started forming over the next few hours. If you have a bottom
freezer the button can only felt for or seen with a mirror.

Hi!!! I think both numbers are the for same ice maker, some times the manufacturer changes the last digit, it goes up one number, why they do it ?? I guess they do it, when new batches of ice makers are manufactured, that is what I think. Cheers

    • @thearkaudais
      @thearkaudais 2 роки тому +1

Thanks to RepairClinic for this helpful video. I had a similar issue but using parts of this video I was able to troubleshoot. In our case we have a LG bottom drawer freezer with ice maker inside that. We went on vacation for a week so we turned off the water to the house. When we came back the ice maker was not working. I tried checking the water feed lines on the back of the refrigerator and everything was clear but did discover that there is a water reservoir 'tray' at the bottom rear of the refrigerator and it was overfilling with water because the ice maker was trying to make ice but the water was backing up and overflowing at the back of the refrigerator and dripping down the rear panel of refrigerator into the tray. After following this video and removing the ice maker/tray unit, I could see that the water feed outlet just above the ice tray was frozen solid. Before that I had tried running a hair dryer into the back water inlet at the rear of the refrigerator where it feeds ice maker (also after removing the feed piping and gasket that runs to the ice tray) but it is a long ways to the end of the tube to get to the water outlet. Back inside the freezer ice tray I was going to run the hair dryer on it for a bit to melt the frozen clog but just tried pushing up with a screwdriver onto the ice blockage and it popped right off and a small trickle of water came down. It runs fine now.

My AEQ72909603 ice tray cracked so I recently bought a refurbished AEQ72909602 assembly for $60. Once the replacement was installed the arm wouldn't work so.... I just popped the ice tray out and put it into my assembly. It fit perfectly and works great. Of course there was nothing wrong with the motor of my ice maker, just the cracked tray.

Brian Healy: try to remove as described, clean it, dry in. Maybe ice is making problem, make sure you have in the bottom box space, and its right side, there is a hole in top of the box at upper left side. Where the arm moves.
