I inherited a 1966 Speedmaster. I Called Remington for a replacement part #28 from the exploded parts diagram. The lovely lady on the line said something like : Oh yeah, that's the single most LOST part while cleaning. I'll send you one for free! It's the slip in half moon metal thingy that holds the wooden fore grip to the ammo tube.
Noticed you're missing a small metal clip that fits on the front inside of the foregrip. Your magazine tube goes between the clip and the inside of the foregrip securing the front of the foregrip to the rifle. Watch other disassemble videos to see what I'm talking about.
I just checked the Numrich parts diagraghm. The part is called the forend support part #33. Keeps the forend secured to the magazine tube. They can easily drop out. Probably why yours is missing.
@@charleshill9236 You know what, that’s why the grip was always loose haha. Appreciate the help friend! I’ve been using chopsticks & tin foil as a Mack shift prop.
Hope this video helps you guys out!

I would use Copper or Brass Wool with a good oil like G96 Gun Treatment. Good job with the disassembly.
I’ll have to look into that oil for next time. Though 3 in 1 or CLP seems to do the trick as well. Thank you.
I just picked up a 552 and cleaned it. When I put it back together I noticed that the action bar is very close to the barrel, is that normal? Thanks
@@rogerspielman4953 Yes that’s normal, they practically touch.

Huh I’ll take a look at that, thanks!

Subbed 💪🏼👨🏻👍🏼
What's a 4 pointed screwdriver?
Probably miss-spoke, it’s a regular screw driver with 4 grooves creating a point.
Please don't use a jeweler screwdriver to push out dowel pins!
Brass punch and small hammer are best.
Appreciate the comment Geraldf, luckily awhile after this video was posted I was able to upgrade my tools 😊!
Well, you, and every 552 video, neglected to mention the little extractor on the barrel, and how to remove the bolt bumpers on the stock....
It’s a bit of a pain to get to some of those parts & no real reason to remove them unless they’re broken. One day I’ll most likely post an update.
Should go ahead and get a bigger hammer!😅
I don’t think I used the mallet in this video, did I 😂? When it comes to surplus sometimes you just go to really beat a part into place lol!
