Military pilots, especially helicopter pilots are the best! I grew up by a reserve base where they did the training for apache pilots and theyd always come in low to wave. Coolest thing ever when the military has a little fun with the citizenry 🤟😁

For reference, the max theoretical helicopter speed is about 259mph and the current record is 249mph. (V-22 Osprey not included as its designated as a “tilt rotor aircraft” max speed ~350mph) The chinook is a *heavy* lift vehicle capable of carrying about 8-13 tons depending on elevation, temp and humidity. For reference, the world record is 20 tons by the Mil Mi-26. There’s a reason it’s set to be produced through the 2060’s, over 100 years after its creation. TLDR: the chinook is a beast, basically all its stats are at 80% of helicopters max capabilities and is the Swiss Army knife of helicopters.

Chinooks are crazy fast, would catch rides on them in Afghanistan all the time, usually its a slow ride, sub 200mph but one time the pilot said they were behind schedule and had to punch it, a Chinook hauling ass can push 500mph, it was HAULING ASS!
