I always loved his face, I wish when he was a kid he never wanted to play hockey such a waste of life when you suffer with concussions and take drugs to ease the pain. God bless Derek
The only way he could get the praise he wanted from his parents and others, which was acceptance and love, was to play this sport. All he wanted was to fit in.
Was warriors in the past as sensitive as we are? I mean depression, anxiety, etc. If couple of hits to the head can cause this much stress to us, what about the warriors whom fought multiple times on a daily basis.
+Andrew Na (The Third Opinion) That used to be called being punch drunk.Take your computer and drop it a couple of times on the floor and see how well it works.Smack the brain a couple of times same thing. Also the word was is singular not plural It should be "were the warriors......"
We live in a CODDLED KIDS world. These guys live large and die large....why blame anyone or anything??? They got to have and live the kind of life most ppl would kill for. Why are we feeling sorry celebrities in sports or music industry or movie industries who had fame, millions of dollars, and then they struggled with depression and died? 99% of other depressed and suicidal ppl die in poverty and we don't care about them do we? No, we only shed tears for the rich and famous.
Oh, so it's real "manly" to act like a violent bully on the ice. That's something to really teach your kids, isn't it, that "real men" are supposed to be bullies?
And what about the unwanted deaths they don't really know they are choosing and are encouraged into by the bloodthirsty people around them? He wanted the NHL, not drug addiction and death so young. Brain damage changes how thought processes work or not, and those types of drugs do, too. He crossed a line somewhere and should've felt free to go back before it was too late, but there's a time when choices are awful and the unforeseen consequences of earlier choices.
A “goon” is someone who does dirty garbage all the time and continuously tries to intimidate skilled players with their antics. He was not a “goon” he was actually on the teams he played on as a deterrent for other teams playing goon hockey. That’s what people sometimes do not understand that fighters often make the games less dirty. It’s the coaches that unnecessarily send guys like this out to fight every game just for entertainment or for trying to show their coaching savvy that should be judged much more harshly.
Wow, you really know what a "man" should be. Good job, way to uphold the ignorance of American society. By the way, how did that work out for Boogaard? He's six feet under now, so yeah, working more on skating would've been a bit more rational.
In re-guard to John Scott Iv'e seen worse! an so has everyone else on here and in the NHL. I hate how this got so blown out of proportion. 5 years ago this woulda been a penalty and NOTHING else. I understand and agree that the NHL is trying to phase out the "Enforcer" role in the game and I respect it.Yet by making examples out of people like this it makes the league look bad! either ban these players or come up with a new plan ENTIRELY to fix this problem. It's not just John Scotts fault here (he was bread an enforcer!! by scouts of the NHL) other teams have these players (not as much as they used to) but nothing is going to change and there will! be hits alot worse like this in the future if the NHL doesn't do a better Job at "ENFORCING" pardon the pun its code of conduct. That means getting at the NHL scouts and say look no more scouting and making lucrative contracts for these types of players. The NHL isn't doing it's part there's too much grey area in the fighting and hitting part of the game. I feel sorry for guys like Bougard and Scott because they were Bread into the league for Just these very reasons, but in the end if the NHL wants to move on they need to completely! take out this Role in the game!. The next time I here an NHL douche(Mike Millbury) talk smack maybe he should aim it more at the NHL instead of the players themselves. R.I.P Bougard BTW an all the rest
The funny thing about this is that I looked up punch out because I'm pumped for super smash bros for Nintendo 3DS because little Mac is going to be in it yet I find this instead

he got his 15 minutes of fame? rip to all the greats that defended there teams.
I would have loved to see Boogaard destroy Chaara and Lucic. rip BOO
I would would have liked to see him smack around Chara, and I am a Bruins fan. Chara sucks.
A boxing career in ice hockey. Interesting.
That's boxing, with giant gloves and a lot more punches. This is hockey.
fighting is human nature starting from day one. You try and subdue it you only unleash a bigger beast.
I didn't know that hockey violence was so institutionalized.

Not one time do they call him what he really was a "Goon", now they call them Enforcer's for some reason. Sad story though, RIP - Boogeyman

The funny thing about this is that I looked up punch out because I'm pumped for super smash bros for Nintendo 3DS because little Mac is going to be in it yet I find this instead
