Hello Brent! So glad you did a revisit to this place. It is extremely sad that all families had to leave their beautiful homes. The area is absolutely breathtaking. Thanks for sharing. Take care.😊❤
Thanks for taking us back here, I've watched the first video multiple times. So devastated for the people who've lost their beautiful homes. I can't imagine being in their shoes and watching this video to see what was supposed to be my dream home in these conditions. I hope they are all doing well. Thank you again
Thank you very much for the gift! Yes it’s a very sad thing. Crazy how the township is not keeping up with the fencing and allowing homeless to move it and trash the place
@@AbandonedUrbexCanada I agree, there's no need to let it get trashed the way it is. If the homeowners aren't allowed back, then the homeless shouldn't get to opportunity to go trash it.
So sad to see these beautiful homes just trashed and disrespected by the homeless. I'm sure the original homeowners would be sad as a home is most of our biggest asset. Unfortunate all this natural land was destroyed for something that was never meant to be. Unfortunate all around. the views are stunning. Great photo work.
I want to show appreciation for Brent and his work! Urbex videos and urbex has been on a downturn, most channels I like to watch are gone, turned ghost faker or just all go to the same "flare" locations. Keep doing this Brent, interesting locations and giving us background about the sites. You show us places we never be able to visit.
These houses are gorgeous. The view! Sad that people had to leave this beautiful place. Thank you for capturing the eerie beauty of this abandoned sub division.
It's way out of the way for one and only crack heads would bother with the copper unless it was a full teardown, did you think that thru?. Theres logically more money in doors and windows alone than there is from copper pipe lol
I was thinking the same thing…. You would think they would allow someone to go get for donations at least Homes for Humanity even. I’m sure these properties are tied up in legal issues and will most likely just rot down…. Such a waste.
Gorgeous homes in a gorgeous location. I can't imagine losing my home, but these people knew what they were signing up for if it's true what you said. There's no way I would build my dream home in a location that is known to have sinkholes.
At least here in the USA, When all parties agree to a real estate contract, there's little to No Recourse for the buyer. Unless addendum is created. Sounds like the disclose language was complete and this means the builder is free of warranty/responsibility for the sink holes. Be interesting to know the Home Owner Insurance Policy. This catastrophic event Begs people to consult with a Real Estate Attorney and experienced credible surveyors, Prior to signing. Read contracts and create addendums in Your Favor, if needed. WoW what a waste of a sub-division.
@@GS-zc4sk There should have been a geotech study done as part of the permit process, that would have prevented the development from happening. The municipality looked the other way so the developer could make profit. Similar thing happened where I'm at, except it was a mudslide area and the houses all slid down the hill. The County knew, but looked the other way.
In Sechelt BC, the the owners did NOT know what they were signing up for at all! The geotechnical company that surveyed the land on behalf of the District of Sechelt (who obtained the area through a land swap) reported that all was well prior to building have ducked all responsibility, as have the District of Sechelt. The District issued permits for the construction to proceed, and charged a pretty penny for doing so - did someone mention corruption here? No insurance companies cover sinkhole or land slip events, leaving all of these home owners to deal with things themselves.
Thanks for the revisit Brent. I remember the first video. I think maybe it would have been safer after everybody moved out to pull the houses down for safety sake. You never know when a house can disappear into a sinkhole and homeless people living in them makes for a life and death situation. Glad you made it out ok without any trouble.
Please be careful. You look so well at the moment and we'd like you to keep it that way ! 😅 Thanks for returning to this explore it is so very sad and I wonder what happened to the people who had to start all over again . Some of these owners managed to restart their lives but may never recover financially. We know of one family who had to move into parents basement suite, AND have to continue making mortgage payments.
Thank you Brent for taking us back here again. It could be such a beautiful place, but I suppose it can't be cleared and returned to nature because it would be too dangerous for heavy vehicles. Maybe you could go back again in a year or so and show us how things are. I love your explores - keep them coming!
Idk, someone should salvage the materials that are still good. Like that is a nice banister. It’s better for the environment. Those windows might still be good too. Such a waste to abandon that much stuff.
I moved from Toronto to Vancouver in 2016, and I've been wanting to go to Sechelt because it looks so magnificently beautiful. I hadn't heard about this subdivision. So sad that the homes were lost, and all that garbage is left in the middle of nature. What an incredible place it would have been to live.
This place has been thoroughly gone through and trashed since the last visit video. Almost glad someone’s making use of some of kitchen cabinets etc. as to not let everything go completely to waste/ruin. Thanks for the revisit,Brent. 👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻
It's weird that there are sink holes and ground movement all over but none of the houses show signs of a compromised foundation. I didn't see any cracked walls or buckled flooring. Even the garage doors are still straight and the sliders still seem to work.
I agree with you Mike? Where is the damage to the homes? No water in the basements, nothing. Very odd. If I was homeless in the area... I would relock the doors and make it very nice inside... just saying.

Always enjoy your videos. Remember the guy who was sleeping in his bed in Florida and his house sank in a sink hole and they never found him? That is very scary. You are the only house explorer videos I watch. I used to watch others but I get creeped out when they are exploring those old houses I feel like I’m walking with them.. but not creeped out with yours. Thank you ❤
I thought they finally did get to him about 3 or so weeks later? It must've been another one, but you don't hear about people disappearing everyday. I do recall a 48 Hours or 60 Minutes did a feature dedicated to sink holes in Florida with that specific story, but obviously I'm incorrect he was finally recovered. They also didn't go into much detail about how sink holes happen. I suppose I could go Google it, but time gets away from you, ya know?

Hey thanks so much Beverley! I believe a survey was done and they discovered issues but built anyway. It does look like soil erosion is leeching out from the shoreline
This may sound like an odd juxtaposition, but I just wanted tho thank two Canadians for reminding me that all that glitters is not gold. Between you and Mike Holmes looking behind the walls and luxury finishes, and beyond the spectacular views, I have come to truly understand what is meant by Buyer Beware. Hard enough to find a home inspector worth their salt, but now I have to find a geologist as well? Sigh. As others have pointed out, this development should never have been allowed to proceed. Hindsight is 20/20. Thanks again for an interesting video, @AbandonedUrbexCanada
So sad to see the place continue to deteriorate. It's such a beautiful area and would have been an awesome place to live. Do you know what the current legal status of the place is? Your description said the region was told to stop abusing emergency orders, but they continued to do so. Have the homeowners managed to get any kind of settlement from them or the builder?
Hi just watching now in Australia 🇦🇺. I did watch the first video awhile back and I’ve been wondering about this place . I loved that first home in this vid , just beautiful. Would’ve been such an amazing place to live , such a shame .
Hello Brent, I saw your first video on this subdivision, at that time I felt very sorry for everyone loosing their homes. However, if what you say is true, and these homeowners signed some sort of acknowledgment to show they knew sinkholes existed in the area, then I don’t feel as bad because they took the risk.
Sure has changed since the last time you were there " shame about the vandalism, but the house's are doomed anyway"! Still is a very beautiful location" thanks Brent"!👍😎😁
Hi Brent, really good to see you again. Too bad about these beautiful houses. Stupid, idiot vandals. Those sea views were beautiful. Wow! I'm wondering how much longer they have before the houses start to sink and fall apart. Sad.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Hey, I just discovered your videos and channel a few days ago! Great filming and shots, I've watched about 10 vids so far. May I ask why not, or if its possible, to include the location in the video description? No doubt I will end up watching all of your videos, but It would be cool to start with the ones closest to me first (south-central Ontario) and work my way out so I could even go exploring myself. Keep up the great content
Did anyone else feel a sense of sadness watching this, thinking how quickly Mother Nature can erase all traces of mankind's existence when the last ones die?
In the last video there was a home that still had a boat in the garage! I’d be shocked if it was still there. Looks like homes have been looted of their materials and appliances since the last video. Thanks for the documentation.
Great update on this ! Thanks. What would cause all the sink holes. And if they knew this was going to happen how did the B.C. government allow them to build?
It is so insane for people to just go in and destroy things like smashing the windows and glass in the bathrooms. And if a roof is not intact, the building will soon be toast. Shame on those developers!
I'd like to know if the water source was found that caused the sinkholes? Is there a lake higher up in the mountain above the homes that the developers never noticed? It would've had to have been a lengthy underground source of continuous water flow to create those holes. Or did they just have the sewage going directly into the deep underground rather than a pipeline or septic system? I live in BC and can't find any info on this at all.
I live in BC, bought a new house several decades ago. It had an artesian well running within a few feet of the foundation, causing it to flood the basement. (These arteasan wells are a problem in the area), yet they gave building permits. We went after the builder under warranty, and he gave us the money to fix the problem. We ran a deeper perimeter drain. It drained for years before it ran dry. Within a year of our purchase, the district approved of building 30 condos across the street and too close to a natural water way (ravene) we fought it, district told us to get a lawyer, we informed them they were working for us and for them to get a lawyer and get it canceled. We won and single family homes were built! A new development was built in the neighboring city, it was built on a hill, fill was brought in (sand) after 5 years the houses began sliding down the hill. City approved the build, residents began suing the district. Shady stuff and people not doing their job properly! I moved rural when I retired, bought a house which was built 75 years ago carved out of a hill. There is a small lake above us (mountainous area) about 1 km, it's where the city gets its water. There is a creek about 200 ft from our house, comes from the lake (runs downhill). We have no issues with drainage, land slide, etc. But the flat land about 1/2 km below us is swampy and nobody will buy it and develop it. Locals warn potential buyers.
@@irishcanuck9489 I think many developers and the people who actually approve of various building permits probably never even seek out architects or engineers that have all the knowledge as to the best places to build. I've noticed since the 70s that the quality of most work ethics in people have dwindled down with every decade. Now it's all about cutting costs and corners. Developers I'm guessing, don't even want to spend money for indepth analysis of build sites and they probably get away with it too. What we had in the 70s and back, is by far 100X better than what is done and built in this era. Men took strong pride in their work back then. 40 something and younger Engineers and architects probably cheated their way through their educations in the 90s and forward and can't remember how to actually do their jobs. 😄 I'm glad you won your fight.
WOW! It's very sad all these peoples dreams have gone down the drain, and all the money and memories lost forever, it is a beautiful location and view to have enjoyed.... 😵
After watching this for the second time and gaining more information, I've come to the conclusion that I feel sorry for all parties involved...but, you were forewarned!! with that being said, I do believe that the breath-taking scenery may have swayed everyone into a hypnotic moment...which, is understandable!! But, not worth the gamble at the same time!! I hope now, that all parties involved have found comfort and are living well!!! If there were ever a lesson to be taught here, it would be, never take the chance to play with nature!! It will always win!!!
I realize doing proper land surveys can be expensive, especially if you need hire a geologist specialist to special equipment (ground penetrating rador, etc.). But for a neighborhood like that, it should become more common to do so (hiring geologists, etc. before deciding to build). Whereas in other areas, when I see problems occur, it is just inevitable (like building mansions on steep cliffs in California) or near water (especially in Florida)
It's a shame these people lost their homes, but he said at the beginning that supposedly they signed papers stating they were aware of the problem. It's insane they were permitted to even build this subdivision. But it has happened in the U.S. too. There are neighborhoods with beautiful mountain views that are sliding down hillsides, 2 and 3 million dollar homes and the whole back of the house and the backyard are gone.

It would cost so much to get it all out and then itd be mismatched and/or not enough when you get out and installed somewhere new. So much easier to buy new
Hello Brent!
Thank you very much for the kind words. Glad you enjoy my videos 🫡
These houses are gorgeous. The view! Sad that people had to leave this beautiful place. Thank you for capturing the eerie beauty of this abandoned sub division.
This is very sad. I'm surprised that the copper wiring and/or piping wasn't removed from these houses. Thanks Brent. Stay safe.
It's way out of the way for one and only crack heads would bother with the copper unless it was a full teardown, did you think that thru?.
Theres logically more money in doors and windows alone than there is from copper pipe lol
I have seen where people go into a work site and steal the copper. Just saying . . .@@DROK278
It is sinful that doors, fixtures, wood floors, railings, etc. have not been removed to be reused.
Should fill the homes with homeless and hope for it.
Please be careful. You look so well at the moment and we'd like you to keep it that way ! 😅
Thanks for returning to this explore it is so very sad and I wonder what happened to the people who had to start all over again .
Now just remember as I have said to you before you are my favourite explorer and we need you in one piece !
I can't imagine buying such a beautiful home with such a great view, falling in love with it and then having to leave it behind.
I would love to hear from someone who was in that position so we could know they are doing ok.
All the best.
Keep exploring.
Janice 👵 🇬🇧 xx
Thanks so much Janice your very kind 😊
Some of these owners managed to restart their lives but may never recover financially. We know of one family who had to move into parents basement suite, AND have to continue making mortgage payments.
Have you ever tried to find the previous owners and speak with them about the whole story?
Thank you Brent for taking us back here again. It could be such a beautiful place, but I suppose it can't be cleared and returned to nature because it would be too dangerous for heavy vehicles. Maybe you could go back again in a year or so and show us how things are. I love your explores - keep them coming!
Sad to see people’s dreams turn into a nightmare.
Those homes and the views are incredible.
Great update. I know the houses are abandoned but I still feel sad about the vandalism
Me too
Idk, someone should salvage the materials that are still good. Like that is a nice banister. It’s better for the environment. Those windows might still be good too. Such a waste to abandon that much stuff.
I think legally it would still be classified as stealing.

@@doltonmurray1625 It would be yes.
I hope it was the owners who came and salvaged their kitchen.
It's weird that there are sink holes and ground movement all over but none of the houses show signs of a compromised foundation. I didn't see any cracked walls or buckled flooring. Even the garage doors are still straight and the sliders still seem to work.
Does anyone know the cause of the sink holes in this area?
@bethelle9099 groundwater causing unstable grounds
I agree with you Mike? Where is the damage to the homes? No water in the basements, nothing. Very odd. If I was homeless in the area... I would relock the doors and make it very nice inside... just saying.
this has got to be one of the greatest abandoned exploration channels. So well done and respectful.
I subscribed! Thank you for revisit the area without damage or destroy the property. We don't know the financial struggle the families had to go through. Hope they are at peace and resolve with the city. It makes me sad to see vandalism from other unknown visitors.
The homes are absolutely beautiful. It was once filled with memories and now left abandon.
Looks like vandals and just being abandoned has done more damage than any sinkholes but idk, its such a shame 😢
What magnificent views. The homeowners must have been heart-broken to leave.
Ya i dont blame em for trying to build there with that view
Wow, that's the first time i have ever felt emotions while watching! I love the way you record.. the drone footage and music are perfect.. thank you for making and sharing, it was worth my time. 👍👍
Hey Brent good to see u again! It makes me sick to see all those beautiful hard wood floors and cabinets just sitting there wasting away! Thanks for the update! 😮😮😮😮
I can't even wrap my head around this. That first home was gorgeous and looked ready to move into. And those views!! All such beautiful homes worth nothing now, so sad :( Thanks for the post Brent and stay safe
Actually they are worth $2.00.
The complete heartbreak I feel watching this is insane. Watching nature take itself back is crazy. 😢
I think I'd get a rainwater catch and generator and live with the sinkholes... The view is worth the hassle and danger. What a beautiful area--B.C. is so stunningly gorgeous.
It’s very sad to see these beautiful homes in the amazing nature of BC. I just can’t explain how it feels to just see this, so much has changed sense then. I feel bad the owners never got there money.
Thanks for going back! ❤️🇨🇦
It might be five years later but its still a great video!!😊👍
16:03 that beautiful view from the living room. So sad they had to leave the house.
Beautiful homes. I can imagine the bliss of living there before the evacuation!
Thank you for this update. I saw your original and often wondered about this place. I know the places are abandoned but l just don't understand why people feel the need to trash things that aren't theirs.
I remember your first visit there.. its amazing.. and so sad that these homes with million dollar views have gone to waste.
@@BabyMonkeyDefender I found this. The sinkhole initially opened in 2013 and took the life of 36-year-old Jeffrey Bush, who was asleep when the hole opened, and the floor collapsed beneath him. His body was never recovered.Jul
I've been going to Sechelt once or twice a year for 10 years now and can not believe I have never heard of this community!!!! Just crazy to me! Definitely will be looking into this area next time I'm there, thanks for the video
I saw your prior video… but I’m glad you went back to see how it looks now😢
I just found your channel & subscribed. I haven't subbed to any abandoned channels, but you are professional, respectful & have the best videography! I love Canada but live in Northern California. Thx💙
I hope these families are doing well, I can't imagine how bad it is to lose your home.
Hi Mr Brent! You said you were talking with a guy who was aware of the sinkhole’s, yet he still built two houses? I’m guessing he just didn’t care and needed the money. For me, if I were a builder, I couldn’t morally live with myself. But hey, that’s just me. 😊. Thank you for the revisit 👍
I still feel sad for the families. How sad to lose the house they saved for only to lose it all
Another classic! Glad you returned! Thanks! The developer should be held responsible and forced to refund 100% of everyone's costs!
Hey Brent thank you for going back. It's so sad that a better survey wasn't done before the land purchase. I can imagine waking each morning with that fantastic view and topped with the sun streaming in. Just wow get to leave so much behind all needed at another home sofas kitchen appliances furniture sad to think of the people moving on. The water looks like soil erosion is leeching out from the shore line . Dreams of what it could have been.
Yes safe to keep away from drug addicts to be beaten for money or worse in a place no one would search to look for you , safety has to be upper most in your mind if out alone. I truly love your explores but think a good friend supporting you would be a good idea. Anyway thank you for going back sad to see glass smashed I wonder at the mentality of people especially if homeless why destroy a place to live for free. Thank you again beverley stone U.K.
In the second house I saw what looked like a really big bookcase or set of bookcases placed together. I would love to have those in my living space!
Thank you for the update on those beautiful homes, I love your videos 😊
Glad you like them!
Love your videos amazing footage beautiful homes. Stunning backdrop of nature❤
Hi just watching now in Australia 🇦🇺. I did watch the first video awhile back and I’ve been wondering about this place . I loved that first home in this vid , just beautiful. Would’ve been such an amazing place to live , such a shame .
Yeah I saw the first video. Definitely getting worse, but what a view they had. I'll bet it was a beautiful place, until it wasn't. Thanks Brent. 💜☮️
Aside from the sinkholes these homes are beautiful and it’s unfortunate this is happening to them.
Sure has changed since the last time you were there " shame about the vandalism, but the house's are doomed anyway"! Still is a very beautiful location" thanks Brent"!👍😎😁
Thanks for the follow-up visit, Brent! Music with the drone shots was most appropriate!!
I cannot imagine spending that kind of money on a home with a neighbor in spitting distance!
I went and saw a 425k townhouse… that kind of money to share walls with strangers
Thank you for the update on this area. I watched your first film months ago. Very beautiful scenery but sad & amazing story at the same time.
Glad you enjoyed it
Interesting for all the sinkholes.... all the houses still seem straight, level, and undamaged.
Just... interesting.
Thank you for your time😊
My pleasure 😊
After living in Vancouver since the early 90’s all I keep thinking is how enormous the houses are. So devastating.
These vids are awesome - when I found your channel last November I hooked my phone up to the big screen and binged for hours. Boss Abandoned 🎉
Hey thank you!
I didn’t see it this time, yes people have been taking things out. Probably the boat too
Who was the engineer that signed their name to this development?
Thanks for the update Brent. Please stay safe!!!
Great update on this ! Thanks. What would cause all the sink holes. And if they knew this was going to happen how did the B.C. government allow them to build?
Groundwater causing unstable grounds
But don't they have to survey the land to make sure it's stable before building? Sounds like somebody didn't do their job. @@AbandonedUrbexCanada
@@JeanStAubin-nl9uoyes they did and they did discover issues with the ground. They built on it anyway
I can't imagine how angry the homeowners were to be evicted from those beautiful, expensive homes
Thank you for taking us back. I wondered how things were there.
It is so insane for people to just go in and destroy things like smashing the windows and glass in the bathrooms. And if a roof is not intact, the building will soon be toast. Shame on those developers!
This is my favorite video in your channel, this neighborhood reminds me of our past and how we leave it all behind. I would of stayed so peaceful
Thank you for sharing ❤️
You are so welcome
Such a stunning place. Sad to see. Great exploration.
Thank you for this. Makes a nice change to see propertys with awesome views to.

It looks quite remote.
How close are the nearest stores etc?
It definitely has a creep factor especially when you’re on you’re own
Great video 🇨🇦❤️
Pretty close to town
Just a few minutes from downtown Sechelt.
Thank you Brent!
Beautiful views for sure, how could they not fix the issue though.
WOW! It's very sad all these peoples dreams have gone down the drain, and all the money and memories lost forever, it is a beautiful location and view to have enjoyed.... 😵
Thanks for this! I'm so interested in the story!
So sad they should see if they could salvage and recycle the flooring , kitchen cabinets & counters from those homes.
You past my thoughts today so glad to see you😊
Thanks for thinking of me 😊
These developers don't care about the land they clear cut. They just think about profit.
Eerie but beautiful...I remember the first video. Thanks!
It's a shame these people lost their homes, but he said at the beginning that supposedly they signed papers stating they were aware of the problem. It's insane they were permitted to even build this subdivision. But it has happened in the U.S. too. There are neighborhoods with beautiful mountain views that are sliding down hillsides, 2 and 3 million dollar homes and the whole back of the house and the backyard are gone.
one word: money
So sad and great to see an update. Enjoyed watching 😊👍.
Amazing ❤
What a view from the house with all rhe insulation--gorgeous!!! So sad to see these beautiful homes just wasting and being trashed.
