I have a little goodie from Herschel Walker's history of lying: After the junior year at the Univ. of Georgia, everyone in Georgia waited with bated breath: Will Herschel Walker stay with us for one more year as a college football player, or will he leave us and become a professional? Shortly before the end of summer break, Herschel gave an evening interview. With conviction and great fanfare, he announced that he had decided to stay with the Univ. of Georgia as one of their football players for his Senior year. Once said year was over, he would become a professional.
WHAT is wrong with this story? The day prior to the interview, Herschel Walker had finalized, and all parties had signed and sealed, Herschel's new contract as a professional football player. When he spoke that day to all Georgians, he lied. Straight-faced lied with no shame. FUNNY touch: People soon had bumper stickers, saying "Herschel Who?" 'Vince Dooley and his Junkyard Dogs' is what the football team at Univ. of GA was called. Vince Dooley was the coach. Herschel Walker was the lying scum. That's in 1981, folks.

Not really that funny as Sweden just elected a populist conservative right-wing government.
I remember seeing reports about Silvio Berlusconi's various scandals in Italy ten years ago and thinking that we would never see a politician like that in America. Now half the country won't vote for a politician if they're not mired in scandal, lawsuits and criminal activity.
I'm not sure how the politics are in Sweden, but I hope to God it's nothing like what's happening in the US. I've lived in this country for 40 years, and I have never seen the politics this bad.
I sometimes wonder if Earth passed through a debris field in space that had brain eating microbes which attached themselves to the dimmer bulbs in society? (Republican IQ has always averaged 10 points below Kelly Bundy.) It would explain a lot.

the level of hypocrisy show by certain individuals in both mainstream political parties is thick with sludge of lies, corporations having politicians in their pocket, greed and petty mudslinging. At times it becomes more evident that perhaps both the Senate and the House need to be completely emptied and entirely different candidates need to take their place, however, that would require a positive shift in character, values, agendas across the spectrum. I done gave up on that by now, didn't want to.
