Crowning Keldor doesn't really fix Adam's manufactured problem of having to choose between being champion or king because Keldor doesn't have an heir so Adam is still next in line for the throne, just delaying it. It would still be like if Randor hadn't died. He'll still have to make the choice, just later on down the line. Dissolving the monarchy isn't what's best for Eternia, either. They needed stability right now and after the destruction of the city, they have to hold elections and they have no leader in the meantime while the city is still in ruins. Adam and Teela just walk off together arm in arm while the people are left in the rubble. He could have at least had a constitutional monarchy because this way it looks like he's running away from his responsibilities imo.
Exactly. They really destroyed Prince Adam's character this season. He comes across as a fool for handing over power to a man he just met, and he seems like a coward for running away from his responsibilities as king.
That reminds me of the Legend of Korra comic that starts "after the show ended". Where Korra and Asami are taking a vacation in the spirit world after they just opened a new spirit portal in the city, and after the city already had problems with spirits taking over a lot of city space, which Korra also left alone after failing to solve. AND after the spirts refused to help the humans with Kuvia's mech, but they cared enough before that it required harvested spirit vines to punish random people in the city.
You can't just turn into a democracy ether. You need to write new laws, have different structures of power for your leadership. Do you setup courts now instead of letting leadership decide on punishments for folks who break laws. How many levels of leadership do you implement from the local to the nation level of leadership. So many little things have to happen.
It's kinda sad that the crappy Legend of Korra: Ruins of the Empire comic did this idea better. Not much better, but the story does have Wu acknowledge the Earth Kingdom can't become a democracy overnight. He's not completely abandoning his people to a leader who's really the main villain.
Is it possible to escape from religious overtones in fantasy? Especially since most fantasy comes from a wide ray of belief systems. Magic after all comes from insert living or dead belief here.
"It can't be as bad as revelation right" That sounds similar to, "What could possibly go wrong," which tends to mean everything went wrong I'm sure she regrets saying that xD

The whole conflict between magic and technology is incredibly stupid, because both major iterations of the Masters of the Universe franchise (the Filmation series and the 2002 reboot) had everyone using magic and technology in equal measure. Eternia was already in balance as far as that went. He-Man regularly made use of technology in addition to his magical powers. Orko was the court wizard. This entire take on the franchise is a collection of bad ideas, misconceptions of the franchise and the rare moment of enjoyment when they actually do the characters justice.
I think of the whole "You can't be both He-Man *and* a King" thing as a rallying point for so many of the problems. It's such a disingenuous idea that ignores so much reality and forces plot points that you just find yourself thinking "But none of this needs to happen though." The only motivation comes from a combination of deliberately trying to hold on to some remnant of pushing Adam out from the first season, and Kevin Smith trying to tell a story about a trope that, in the *right* context can be very compelling, but is just being slapped onto a property that it really has no business being in. By the way, Midnight's Edge also voiced that complaint, so you're not alone in spotting that particular nonsense.

So when he goes out to save the world, his ally council can ensure that the kingdom is well maintained safe until he returns hell. Even if his mother wants to help, she can be a council member too. Be an advisor to the king.
I know next to nothing about this show outside UA-cam videos, but it does seem that the writers have a wheel of characters' names that they spin to decide who they are gonna kill off.
Well, maybe I'm investing too much thought into this, but if you count the (somewhat cringy) 1980's He-Man Christmas special as cannon, Christian theology existed within the MOTU universe. They kind of rewrote the whole Universe's theological system by making hell as "subternia", and effectively making Heaven as some weird version of Vahalla. Plus, I recall an episode of He-Man when I was a kid, (I can't remember the episode) where the devil literally made an appearance in the show. He appeared as a face of fire and was only repelled with the power of love.
The episode with the devil was a lonely wizard makes a deal with a demon so that he can make Teela love him. But the price is his soul. The devil is summoned by the demon to take his soul. But it turns out his assistant loves him and offers herself to the devil. However, when he goes to take her, her willing sacrifice hurts him and he instead takes his anger out on the demon. The episode was called “Wizard of Stone Mountain”.
Didn't smith say he never really watched the show 😂😂And yeah, when you kill the main character in the first few episodes, the fans usually get pissed. But this was the really a show about He-man's older brother, Teela 😂😂 Man, that guys was buffed 😂😂🙃

Yeah Adam just doomed etherna. He is will be forever known as the cowradly fool who let a stranger in charge and ran away while dismalting his own monarchy as his kingdom is in ruins.
I find this show frustrating. It’s like they “listened to fans” but not really. They just gave us surface level fan service. Sure there’s more Adam now and Teela isn’t insufferable. They brought back some favorite characters and there is the Horde. Except that’s it. The story is dumb. The characters’ motivations don’t always make sense. And if I want to see characters die I’d watch Conan the Barbarian not He-man.
Geez what's with all the costume changes, are they just trying to sell toys? The original cartoon gets accused of that but they actually told worthwhile stories with characters that endeared themselves to the viewers. At least they've established over and over that this is not the Filmation timeline (whatever they claim or think they're doing.)
This was a really fun series & I hope you feel inspired to do similar review/reaction videos like it in the future. (For some reason, the lousier the show the funnier the reactions & commentary. Kinda like MST3K...)
2 things didn't the 2002 HE-Man series try to restart the council of elders? That would have went over better. 2 I will say having William Shatner as Keldor with Mark Hamill as Skeletor is a nice little nerdy combo
Hordak as Miro is probably alluding to King Hiss using Randor as a puppet in the 2012 He-Man series (with Skeletor in Adam's place in finding out the rise), an idea that Kevin Smith couldn't use since he only had 5 episodes instead of 10.

So just to point out, Teela's final form is based on the Central Tower of the Eternia Playset - or in the case of the series, Preternia
