Really good video the only thing you didn't mention were the the markings on the ring tops if there were any and which direction they go??? Thanks for sharing your video❤
I didn't see a follow-up vid covering gapless, etc. I'm getting ready to put a forged bottom end into my Ford 4.6 to make it bulletproof even if a twin screw were to find its way onto the Trick Flow heads I'm waiting for. Maybe 260-300 at the wheels N/A, shooting for 450 or so with a bit of boost. For engine longevity, what would you recommend for me? Manley crank, rods, pistons and rings. They offer gapless top ring, stainless steel top ring and ductile iron top ring. I'm slowly turning a GrampsMobile into my kind of 4-door sports car with help from ADTR, CHE, Moog and Summit. (2000 Grand Marquis)
Great content. How about a video with an LS solid roller shaft rocker set up. You lightly covered this on your previous videos but an in-depth one would be awesome.
What about TotalSeal’s gas ported rings? None of the issues with gas ported pistons plugging up or creating uneven bore wear. No reason why you wouldn’t want to run them in any application in my opinion.
I have a question. I have a set of piston with just a number stamped on top. I am trying to figure out what brand they are. The number is 6012A3 nothing else on them. It’s out of a 350 Chevy motor. If anyone could help me that would be great. Thanks
Is it best to ask an engine builder to get the right rings you need even if you’re putting the rest of the engine together yourself? Also some nice “recipe” videos would be great. Without giving away too many secrets could you show like what it takes to make an engine hold up to different power levels?
@@JacobVillemain all of my engines are turbo, but the one I’m building for a drag car is a 5.3. I’d be willing to watch anything, but LS based is my biggest interest.
Dudes talking in circles. First thing he says is the oil ring spring puts pressure on the bore then immediately after saying that says the oil scrapers are the only thing in contact with the cylinder wall.
Good video now we need to know about cylinder finishes per rings being used
Sweet, something to watch as I knock out some recalls this morning!
Could talk engines with you for hours!!! Great content!! Very informative

Can you do a video on how you got into engine building and getting a job like yours?
How about a video talking about calculating head flow needed for naturally aspirate motors? I'm building a 402 13:1 and trying to decide on heads.
Question - what can you do to reduce probability of a sticking piston ring?
Appreciate it my man good looking at🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Thanks for sharing and I have question
When the different between Gapless Piston Rings and a normal piston rings?

Thanks. Can you put thin rings in stock EJ207 pistons that have thicker stock ring grooves?
A video about dry sump/wet sump systems would be cool
Already made one! Check my videos

Will you please do a video on a SBF 363 Cobra build? Thanks!
We have a wicked one already built and ready to dyno. Will be a 3 part series starting in a couple weeks.
@@JacobVillemain Wow, the 8k rpm 363 series of videos was amazing, thanks!
Do you like building fords or chevys better and why
They are the same for me, I like both equally.
What are the coating's on the example piston?
Looks like JE’s gold thermal barrier coating and the black friction reduction skirt coating.
That springs job is to space the oil rings NOTto put pressure on the cylinder wall, a prime example of the blind leading the blind so to speak.
Great video
And L-rings?

Yes, we can try and do something like that! Which type of engine are you curious about
