The intention is that they will lower like the caterpillar doors are intended to. CIG stated in their post that its currently stuck in the upward position but will eventually lower to the ground
The Carrack needs a lot of work done on it to bring it up to the standards expected in the game. The blast shield needs to have projectors on it so that the pilot can see what they're doing. The elevators need to be reworked so that you don't have to use the main ramp to enter the ship. And the cargo pods need to go all the way down to the ground.

I'm really not happy with the cargo pods. They're supposed to not only open, but also lower to the ground. Right now with only the "flaps" lowering, it's going to make it really difficult to stack cargo without the Carracks main chassis interfering with it. But if the pods fully lowered to the ground like they're supposed to, you wouldn't have that problem because you could fully load with plenty of clearance on top to maneuver the boxes. I'm glad they've done "some" work on the Carrack, but those pod doors on their own are not good enough.
It's probably because the cargo pods weren't designed that way. They are supposed to lower down to the ground because they are meant to be detachable. If they add in a ramp, they are only going to have to remove it later once the pods become lowerable. It just adds more work that could have been allocated to actually lowering the pods.
I see that once again, CIG miss the little details, like maps in LZs that are orientated the wrong way round. They put the button for port on the right and starboard one on the left 🤦🏻♂️😅
How on earth am I supposed to load cargo inside the Carrack on foot or with the ATLS this way? Either the doors have to lower or the hole Cargo modul has to come down. Its stupid the way it is!
Awesome, so now with the carrack's cargo pods opening but not lowering, it makes a GREAT reason to use the Argo MPUV Tractor as the vehicle in its hangar.
IMO blast shields are a waste of time that could have been spent on the antenna, drones, storage lockers, scanning and creating buttons like the Polaris has to open individual doors.
Sadly though,. the design still isn't as good as the Polaris in just about any way. Even if they do fix the cargo pods it'll still be less useful than the Polaris.
The blast shields being added to the Starlancer and turned functional on the Carrack makes me think the reason the solar flare damage from the Pyro star got delayed in the initial 4.0 release is the damage the solar flares will do to engineering systems and the blast shields may offer some protection to critical parts
@@OmegaZyion Pyro is a flare - star. The Pyro Playground from last citizencon and then the open tests they had with 4.0 included solar flares that damaged ships internal components if those ships didnt take precautions like shutting down systems before the flare hit.
Hey, check the 890. It got some love too
They should put defense turrets on this
Yaaaay Finally Cargo :D
Does the blast shield actually do anything or its just cosmetic? Would be nice to know.
Just cosmetic at the moment as armor has yet to be introduced into the game.
The blast shields being added to the Starlancer and turned functional on the Carrack makes me think the reason the solar flare damage from the Pyro star got delayed in the initial 4.0 release is the damage the solar flares will do to engineering systems and the blast shields may offer some protection to critical parts
@@lights4bre890 I think you're reaching there. No way a blast shield thinner than the hull is going to protect critical systems better.
@@OmegaZyion lol.. what in the hell do you think the blast shields are for?
@@OmegaZyion Pyro is a flare - star. The Pyro Playground from last citizencon and then the open tests they had with 4.0 included solar flares that damaged ships internal components if those ships didnt take precautions like shutting down systems before the flare hit. That was coming in 4.0 but they decided to push that and the engineering to a patch later than 4.0.
'Just cosmetic at the moment' - but that moment is running out
They should make it 1 biga** bay, big bay doors port and stbd, not partitioned small bays.
They said raised state. i think its sooner than later .
Wow cant believe this!!!
Still useless though. The pods open 20ft in the air lol 😅 Only one entrance point and a cockpit shield that removes being able to see.
that is huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge!
oh that's so cool
Finally vaughn mission loot will be easier
Until Reclaimer.
Dont give CIG praise for half finished Work. You cant fully load the carrack With the pods are up
