hands down the best review. thank you
Unfortunately, everyone else with inferior videos are getting all the views. Thanks for watching!
I'm so glad I got this set up
Thanks for watching!
Excellent work doing a thorough review of this unit. So many "fluff" sales pitch reviews out there.
Was hoping to see a voltage reading of the 12v lighter socket when the battery was low to see voltage regulation though.
Overall loved the review. Thank you for taking the time.
Glad you enjoyed it! The voltage of the 12V socket is regulated, so it's the same level when the unit is discharged to a low level. Thanks for watching
I love it when you make a video having anything to do with electricity / electronics! I like the "Nmore" stuff, too!

Very good review... Thank you! 😊
Glad you enjoyed it!
I have the Jackery 240 and the Jackery Solar Saga 60. When using the solar Saga 60 I get between 45w and 55w. I do live at around 8000ft above sea level. When I bought it in early 2020 every review out there said that all charging is capped at 40w. The 12 V and AC charging IS capped at 40w, but it was nice to find out after using it that solar charging is not capped at 40w. At 55w it takes about 4 hours to charge.
You'll like my other video on this subject. :-)

@@electronicsNmore I can't afford that one at the moment so I'll wait a good long while before I can get that one, honestly I'm in Jersey I want to get something that can travel with me keep me warm and to charge my phone and maybe a small portable refrigerator and I'm hoping this will do it
Great video, I'm planning on buying one for myself.
It's a good unit, but definitely watch my other power station video below. It uses LiFePO4 cells. Thank you!

Whenever I go camping, my phone is locked in the glovebox and turned off. It is only there for emergencies should I need to reach someone. If i am camping for more than just a weekend, I will sometimes call in and check my voice mail, but that is it.
It has become fairly common to see ipads and laptops sitting on the picnic bench on other people's sites. I go camping to escape this stuff, not to bring it with me!
If it wasn't for YT, I'd hardly ever use my phone.
I think the difference you are seeing on the AC output and the display on the Jackery is what is being pulled from the battery vs. the output of the AC outlet. There will be a conversion loss. Thank you for the review.
Excellent review

I bought one of these units and when I use my smart tv as a monitor, my laptop, and my internet modem the specs say 61 Watts charging input from the house ac outlet.
Nice review
Thanks Ed!
Nice video, you need to do a compare of these type of products like Project Farm!
The only problem is the cost. I'd have to buy 4 or 5 units, and the video may not get the exposure/views. High risk to reward ratio.

@@electronicsNmore Thank you for the videos they help a lot
can the combo of the battery and solar panel keep a 45watt portable fridge running 24/7?
7:15 I think each lipo cell is charged individually to 4.2 V so the 12v input doesn't need to be boosted.
Very possible since I didn't tear it open to look.
Where would you find a AC power adapter for the Jackery 240 that gives an input like you recommend of 25V / 3.5A?
Hi there. Use the one below, it's inexpensive and works good. You will need to cut the end of the cable off(has the wrong jack), then use the jack that came with the jackery. Pos to Pos / Neg to Neg when you solder or splice.

If I understood you correctly devices like cell phones, iPads and laptops can be charged directly off of the solar panels?
Correct!
electronicsNmore thank you!
Just received my 240 last week. Input is 62 watts. Seems Jackery addressed the input concerns. Should help while im off grid with a solar setup
Jackery makes a good product, but there is better out there. Jackery's warranty and support makes it popular.
My big power unit if I feel the need to upgrade, I might look at ecoflow? They claim 1.5 hours from 0% to 80%
@@betweenthepines4000 Watch my ecoflow review video.
will do!!! thank you for responding! So the voltage of 115 on the magic chef mini fridge is ok even though the 240 has 110 voltage?
Yes
electronicsNmore Awesome! Ordering now.
Thanks for not selling out!
You're welcome!
how long after first charging the jackery 240, does it need to be chre charged after letting it drain too zero.
It's best not to drain it to zero. May drain to 20%.
Hello Question. I have a magic chef that I would like to power with the Jackery but unsure which one to purchase. The wattage on the fridge is 60 watts and 115 voltage
If it's only 60W, the Explorer 240 shown in this video should be fine. You always want to go higher in capacity to help start motors easily. The 160 may not do it. Be sure to use the supplied product links in the video description area to support my channel(No added cost to you). Thanks!

Thank you for your very informative video. I'm not good at figuring out watts, voltages and amps so I'm trying to figure out how long the 240 will power a small table fan that is 9 inches in diameter. Or should I go with the 500?
If all you want to power is a light and fan, the 240 is plenty.
Can you do a video on how to use the Drok. I bought one after seeing this figuring I'd find a "how to for dummies" but nope. Newbie here.
Which one you talking about?

How long did it take to charge? I hear older model took forever but Jackery now states 5hrs…
If I recall, around 4 or 5 hrs.
Great vid.I have this setup and I'm quite happy with it.My question though is the 240 has max input power at 42 watts yet your setup drew 62, how was that possible? did they perhaps send you a unit that bypassed the rating?
42W isn't the maximum. It's the maximum from the included smps charger. As you saw, the unit had no problem being charged by the 60w solar panel. I showed you the max input wattage for the unit in this video. The company screwed up when they stated it as Max input wattage, I did discussed the issue with them.
It's just a delay in the meter, nothing else. The indicator is a little slower than the other one, but it's accurate, just a slower response in the display.
Jackery apparently doe nor want you to charge the 240 at a high rate. I own one and have a 100W, 24v panel attached to it. The most I ever see charging it is 50W - no more than that ever. I have it for about a month so far. They actually recommend the 60W panel that they make.
Hi again, just tried to order the 60w solar panel and it says not available and do not know when/if it will become available? (Never easy...) Can I use an alternate panel from another company and if so, what adapter would I need?
OK. Rockpals makes a good folding solar panel that's compatible with the Explorer 240. :-)

electronicsNmore Excellent. Thanks for a solution!! I’m on a mission!
electronicsNmore - on Amazon now. it’s a better price too! $139. Promise this is my LAST question: So when recharging Jackery 240, do I disconnect the fridge for the 5-6 hrs the Jackery is connected to solar panels? I’m struggling with this set up concept. Really appreciate some clarity.
@@deezinermedesigner7970 You need to make sure the fridge doesn't use more power than the 12V accessory socket on the Jackery can deliver. If I recall correctly, 10A max. You can use the Jackery and charge it the same time.
electronicsNmore I see. Ok, I will check this and confirm. (Sounds like, as much as I do not want to have an auxiliary battery just to run a very small fridge, I am going to have to... ). I’m getting the sense, the Jackery is more for “techies” who need to stay connected with their IPads and drones. I am simply looking to run the minimal components needed to travel comfortably, without seeking hookups. I do not need to access my phone, IPad, all day. In fact, this is why I am choosing this lifestyle. Basic, minimal and untethered. Again, appreciate all of your advice! Best to you!
I've looked all over for a 25v 3.5amp power adapter but can only find 25v 2amp ones. Can someone please show me where I can find it?
They sell 25V/4A, which is more than you need, and they're little pricey. Use a 24V / 3.5-4A SMPS, it will put you at 76W, there's no need to be maxed out.

**You "may" need to replace the DC jack on the end of the power supply with the one you have by soldering it with heat shrink.
@@electronicsNmore Thank you. Won't be soldering anything though. I have zero knowledge about this stuff.
@@HAMILTONPROVIDEO OK, I just checked, and the Jackery 240 uses a 5.5 x 2.5mm DC jack, so the one I show should work.
@@HAMILTONPROVIDEO Correction: Jackery uses a DC8mm
@@electronicsNmore I'm thinking about getting a Paxcess Rockman 300w instead. From what I can see it has a Max input of 76w.
Maybe they use the lower voltage charger in order to be easier on the cells, especially as the cells age.
No. The higher voltage won't hurt the batteries, after all, the 24VOC solar panel is made for that unit. The 12v/5A charger is fine, but faster charging can be obtained using a 24V/4A supply for only $3 more. Thanks for watching!
Not the higher voltage, but the faster charge. Though this is well under 1c, so it's probably not a big deal. Perhaps they just got a better deal on these chargers (or the components).
Thanks for the detailed video. I much enjoyed it.
@@tarstarkusz I think they bought them and realized later that it should've been 24V like the solar panel. 7-8 hrs to fully charge still isn't bad.
And a pretty decent deal. 250wh plus a high quality sine wave inverter for $250 is a pretty good price.
@@tarstarkusz On 12/14 it will be $174.99
Hi I'm Mark a new subscriber I wanted to ask what the difference is the 240 and the Explorer 290 I have before 290 and the 100 what solar Saga panel are these basically the same and mine says pure sine wave I don't know what these things mean I just like to use it if I'm out and about maybe you can give me some advice on what it can and can't do
Not familiar with the older units, but I'm sure you can find a comparison on a website. Lower number = lower AC power output.
@@electronicsNmore do you know what sinewave is ? Could you explain it to me

but....
How much sunshine will be available should there be a massive volcanic eruption, thus..
Making the use of sunlight in an emergency useless?.. (just saying....)

What are dimensions of this panel?
Hi Chris. In the video you can see the dimensions shown in red writing on the panel. Thanks for watching!
If I could isolate this from extreme temperatures I would use this to power a weather station...winter time will not provide enough solar to power current setup...bloomsky...
The ac circuit is useless to me....the unit at $1 per watt is inline with other similar units but the 60 w panel is almost $3 per watt...👎
You always pay more for high cell efficiency folding panels. It was on sale yesterday for $125
THESE WATERPROOF SOLAR PANELS DO NOT EXIST ANYMORE , NO LONGER BEING MADE , YOULL HAVE TO STICK TO THE OLD ONE'S. , THE ONES WITH THE MAGNETS AND ORANGE HANDLES ...I DON'T KNOW WHY THIS VIDEO ISN'T REMOVED ???? You have the ability to force people to purchase through your links but choose not to...interesting. Didnt know you could force that on people
Like all UA-cam channels, I have a good number of undesirables/Trolls that like to mouth off about me being a product sales channel. I was making a point to the freeloaders, which you should've understood.
Really sad the price they charge for these units that they cannot get them built in the USA, I would buy from China before buying from them, I am capable of sending my money to China without a person in the middle to take their share.
Labor costs in the USA are way too high to compete. You can't buy Jackery at a lower price directly from China. Thanks for watching!
God! Just tell us what it will run and for how long!! Talk about dragging things out.
Wow, there's nothing worse than an entitled and unappreciative viewer. Better hope you never need my assistance in repairing one of the many things shown on my channel, because you won't be getting a reply for your question. You're now on my "Do Not Reply List".
@@electronicsNmore that's fine with me. Fyi, when someone is shopping for an item and start watching dozens of videos on those such items, they get tired of listening to technical mumbo jumbo. We just want to see what that item is capable of doing. Once you hear the technical stuff one time( which we can read ourselves on their websites), at that point we just want to see real life applications of that product. You might want to consider that as you review other products.
