I might be over thinking this but how would you do a straight stitch in a long line? But say with shorter lengths? If that makes sense lol
Hmmm... yeah, not sure if I understand. Like you want to stitch along a line but not with just one stitch? If that's the case, you'd want to use something like a stem stitch, back stitch, or split stitch.
Would this be good to trace letters? Or would a stem stitch be better for that?
Only if the letters had only straight lines. I would use a stem, split, or back stitch for letters that are lines.
How is this different from a satin stitch? They seem the same to me

Yeah but what do you do when youre done the stitch?
If there are other stitches around, you would run the needle under those to secure the thread. If it's just a single stitch like this, and you started with a knot, bring the thread back to the knot and make a loop around it to tie a knot around the knot. Hopefully that makes sense even though it sounds confusing. :D

I came here expecting to be elevated. Instead, I got the elevation with a dose of "you stupid" LMAO. I've been trying to stitch whiskers on an effing handmade bunny for a week! I have BUTCHERED the fabric because I've had to remove so many half-assed stitches lol. You have saved my sewing room because I am one seam ripper away from burning it to the ground lol.
