- Poco's great song with Ringo Starr & His All-Starr Band.
from left to right, Timmy Cappello, Todd Rundgren, Nils Lofgren, Burton Cummings, Dave Edmunds & Joe Walsh
Never thought I'd see Todd Rundgren singing back up vocals for Timothy Schmit...incredible sound !!
How about Guess Who's lead singer in that group.
@@jag136 Yepper, Burton Cummings.
I noticed that! Burton Cummings
It is excellent. I remember Todd, went to a concert in Tallahassee in 1978 . Was a poor college student with a mortgage to my father for a cottage five properties down from a white sandy beach. It was the bay, but was perfect just the same.
Timothy is a huge talent, helluva nice and modest guy too. What a great and eclectic array of background singers...harmonies are exquisite.
+Ron Luckenbach - agree on all counts. Have heard he's a very nice guy.
I was sooooooo sad with Timothy left Poco and went to the Eagles but learned to love him there too. But the music that Poco made was the best as far as I'm concerned. I used to go to concerts where they were warming up just to hear them. Went to a Willie Nelson concert once to hear Poco warm up and then left -- that's how much I loved them!!!! Such talent and such wonderful music.
Sadly I never forgave him for jumping ship 😢
@@colinlarkin5843I get what you're saying. But Timothy has talked about how amazing it was to be in a band whose new album could debut at #3. And the pay raise must have been decent. 🙂
That said - In his time with Poco and now in his solo work, Timothy looks relaxed, and like he remembers how much he loves the life he has chosen. I usually don't get that from watching him sing with Eagles. Just an observation.
I guess we all would think twice about turning down a shedload of money and guaranteed chart success - but I still think those many songs he wrote with Poco were his best by a mile.@@morgan72359
And you missed WILLIE! I'll bet you're kicking yourself now! Lolol. I would. I agree Poco has their own familiar essence far removed from the Eagles who are as deserving.
I’m with you all. I love him, his voice, his songs, his hair! I hope he’s doing well!!! I had a great moment in the 70’s or was it 80’s when the Eagles sang at the old Browns stadium. My husband and i were walking by the fence at the site of rock n roll hall of fame construction site when this white van pulled up and out walked timothy b schmit and don henley. I KNOW timothy pointed right at me and winked. Great memory!!!
There are lots of pictures of him taken over the years pointing at someone. It seems to be his thing, or one of his things. He tosses the attention to someone else, and I find it endearing. 😊
Timothy wrote this song. According to the story, he recorded his voice 5?6? times to make his own harmony, and Poco loved it so much it went right onto the album. He didn't need anyone to make such a gorgeous harmony.
It's fun watching these rock stars concentrate so hard on getting their vocals right for this delicate song. Love it.
Timothy B Schmit at his very best. My most very favorite of this, one of his great hit songs😊
Damn, he was gorgeous (still is) and what a beautiful voice!
The Eagles should do this song with Timmy up front playing the acoustic like he is here it would really go over with the fans.
You know, I think you're absolutely right! They totally need to do this song!
Brian Brooks It suits there vocal style and I think the crowd would love it.
wayneo1269 : Henley's ego wouldn't let that happen!
I don't think Don would care. They did it a few times in the 70's.
They performed this song a few times in 1978 and 1980. The 1980 shows were the three nights at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium and the final concert at Long Beach in July of 1980. Part of The Long Run tour and special concerts labeled “Thank You Los Angeles” which featured 21 or 22 songs other then 15 - 17 that the normal setlist provided.
Tim Schmidt has the most beautiful of all male rock singers' voices
very very true
One has to think,
had The Eagles continued beyond
they're 1980 breakup,
Tim would have been a major contributor to their continued success.
His voice is just too good, and though not as prolific as Frey and Henley, Tim's writing ability in collaboration and influenced by the rest of the band,
means we may have missed out on some big hits.
You should check out Warren Haynes
@@lesheathjr4494 This is an apples to oranges comparison; Haynes is soulful and gritty while Schmit and those like him are in a higher, sweeter range.
Timothy's finest hour. How good is this?
The 'little guy with the dark glasses' is Nils Lofgren. He does solo work but is best known for playing with Neil Young's Crazy Horse and Bruce Sprinstein's E Street Band.
+Michael Clark And Elton John? Didn't he do "Only One Woman?"
Also Grin
Great song..Poco was a awesome band.
I got to see Poco record half of the Deliverin' album. I've always admired Timothy B.
I just love love love this song!! I forget sometimes how much I love Timothy's songs! This takes me back to some great days. I think I'm driving my son crazy with tapping my fingers on the computer and my feet on the floor. (I'm using earphones, so all he hears is "tap tap tap tap" lol.
OH, he is just magical.
2019 still loving you Timmy.
Who is watching in 2019 ?

Gosh. so much memories with this song. My dad used to sing this to my mom. ahhhh
One of the best songs ever sang
Caught me from the first time I heard it
Great lyrics and melody
Timothy is the best. His voice makes me want to cry! I'll keep on trying.
So nice Karla 😀
I well up every time I hear this song. Love Tim Schmidt! My favorite member of Poco and Eagles!
This is cool, LOVE TIMOTHY B, great voice and they have GREAT harmony.
The Eagles should DO THIS TUNE!
Shame Timothy didn't have the same success level that Frey & Henley had, he's a tremendous talent, that voice could melt steel.
On the other hand, Tim gave The Eagles the extra dimension they needed.
He was a revelation on The Long Run with "I Can't Tell You Why",
and contributed the best post-reunion Eagles tune
"Love Will Keep Us Alive".
Tim made it into the Hall of Fame. I’d say that was quite amazing success. ❤
R.I.P to Randy but I always felt Timothy’s voice is way better
@@ItsMeJessica54Me Too !! 🤗🦋
@@ItsMeJessica54 Why make a contest? Randy was great too. Just leave it that?
Never gets old!
This was a GREAT video, Timothy B is fabulous, I really love this song.
Timothy B is da man! He can hit the high notes still when Glenn Frey cannot.
Very beautiful. Must be from the Ringo All Starr Band tour of 1992. CM Bea - why object to the presence of the great singer/pianist Burton Cummings. He blends well with the others.
I am impressed with their harmonies sounding like Poco really.
Todd Rundgren is singing back up vocals ... One of the BEST ever ... Co-wrote and engineered Bat Out Of Hell II ... He also wrote "Hello It's Me" ... nice guy too ...
He also went great prog with Utopia
How is it that Timothy B. Schmit, Todd Rundgren & Joe Walsh find themselves performing with so many other great musicians? Because their bad ass' that's why!
For all you asking why the Eagles didn't perform this song with Timothy back in the day, well they did. There is one time I know of, and it was just before they broke up and the infamous Long Night at Wrong Beach. There is audio of it here on UA-cam, go look it up. There's a chance they performed it other times, but I'm not positive if they did other than that one night in 1980.
What memories, this Poco album Head Over Heals came out the summer before my senior year in high school. Of course I had the 8 track and played it all the time. This has always been one of my favorite songs on the album with backing vocals by Paul Cotton, George Grantham and Rusty Young but I have to say this is a better version with the All Star lineup as backing vocals.
Still enjoying in this new year - 2021!!! Sounds so great!!!!!
Timothy B. Schmit is awesome!!
Never did understand why the Eagles never played any Poco songs after Timothy joined the band, especially after they reunited in the '90s where they were playing all sorts of Frey, Henley and Joe's solo songs. Probably an ego thing from Henley & Frey, or maybe even being the fairly humble guy Timothy is, perhaps he felt like the focus needed to stay on the Eagles. I know he refused to sing "Take It To The Limit" out of respect for Randy, and didn't want to take that song away from him. This would have been a great song for the Eagles to cover though.
You answered your question with your opening statement. Those were Poco songs. Not Timothy songs. I’m not gonna deny the ego thing, because I don’t think you can get as big as those guys did and not have at least a little bit of one, but if ego were a problem we’d have never gotten all the Randy Meisner stuff, Joe would have never sang Pretty Maids in a Row or In the City, and Timothy would never have gotten a song on Long Run, Hell Freezes Over, and two on Long Road.
I’d also wager what you say about Timothy plays into it, as well. He always seems to be the “team” guy for lack of better terms. He’s consistently given Randy praise for laying down the groundwork.
With all that said: I’m surprised they never pulled anything from his solo stuff over the years. I know they’ve always done a lot of Joe’s stuff (though they seem to have let turn to stone fall off, though).
Absolutely love this song- and Mr. Schmit! Dang!
God Lord i love this man so bad..
Who in he hell put a thumbs down ???? GO the fuck away !!!
Timothy B. Schmidt, a great voice! Just excellent!
Pretty good array of backup singers.
My Italian friend Paolo Giorgi does an absolutely great rendition of this song.
Awesome !!!!!! With Todd, Joe, Burton, and Nils singing backup Frigging GREAT!!!
What a great version of this beauty.
I saw this Ringo All Starr Band tour and this song was definitely a highlight! Tim sounds so good and all the other guys back him up beautifully. Todd Rundgren, Nils Lofgren, Burton Cummings, Nils Lofgren, Dave Edmunds etc.
Joe Walsh, too. Joe can bring a wacky element to the any stage.
Funny how everybody seems to have a soft spot in their heart whether it's a guilty pleasure or just something they like for Poco all these years.
Really cool to see this underrated Poco song being performed by these all-time greats. Can't beat Poco's version though.
Kinda of a funny thought, but Todd rundgren singing background vocals,Todd already forgot more about arranging vocals than the Beatles or the eagles!! Success should never be measured in money or popularity.
Wow, what a line up of vocal talent. Great.
I saw Timmy do this with Poco. It melts your heart. It is a shame he doesn't do it at the Eagles concerts.
me too, it was for me, the highlight of the concert...I loves me some Poco.
They played on SANTA MONICA 1980 keep on trying
Henley wouldn't let him do the song they already do Seven Bridges Road acapella
ua-cam.com/video/ybDQ933UXSk/v-deo.html
I saw the Timothy do this song in 1978 with the Eagles. Dynamite!!!
Now this is flat out killer!! Timothy on vocals from his earlier days with Poco...Oh yeah!!
This is what singing & music is all about ! This is the BEST !
He nailed this song!!
I was lucky enough to see this line up along with Ringo Starr. Amazing talent on that stage, Cappello, Rundgren, Nils Lofgren, Joe Walsh,.Dave Edmunds, Cummings & Timothy Schmit, of course. This was a hell of a show, each one stepping in for a solo, & all playing together, It rocked!
Beautiful. Love the way he bounces when he sings.
OMG!!! This song is sooo good, Timothy kicked ass on this one!!
what an incredible performance
Sometimes in the midst of all the world's ugliness you can find comfort in rediscovering beauty you'd (almost) forgotten about.
So 👍 True !! 🎵🥰🎵
Such a beautiful song ❤️
i love Timothy B Schmith
What has happened to music like this? There's NO band like these guys. If it weren't for the music from the past there wouldn't be much to listen to....
OMG..Tim Golden voice....XXXX!!!!
What a great song and voice!!!

Thank you. A great song made greater. Is that Nils next to Timothy? Play this song at my funeral. Loud.
Nice song.. Initially I thought🤔 Then.. I realized It's A Hymn To The LORD.. Trying to find My way HOME. 🙏.. Not getting fooled into some silly 'Love' song.. Life is GOOD At 67yrs I'm off for a ride on My Harley.. HARLEYLUYAH!!!
All stars. Think about every member. Out of business from old band. All "old" stars
I had completely forgotten about this song. One of my favorites of all time! Here's another vote for Glen, Don, and Joe to join Timothy on this one during their next tour! In fact, they really should re-release this one - the listening public has been deprived for far too long!!
What a great rendition of the Poco tune he sang while with them...
WONDERFUL. WONDERFUL! Thanks so much for this great performance of a terrific song by TBS from his Poco days. Much appreciated.
Timothy still has that great voice ! What an awesome post! BobbyK
One of Timmy's very best. Like "Hard Luck" a little better though. Either way, the flow of energy was fine.
A Poconut.
There are certain songs that just rifle you back to another life, time and golden memo r ies.
This was Ringo's All-Stars..... J oe Walsh ,Todd Rundgren, Burton Cummings ,Nils Lofgren,
see the song info
I saw this lineup of Ringo's band!I saw Tim with Poco in the early 70s.Amazing bassplayer!
Most relatable song of all time.🌈🌅🌌
OMG - I love this song.
Very cool. This was a surprise to find. Love it.
@VoiceOfGood Todd also owned Eric Clapton's "The Fool" Gibson SG guitar at one time... a very famous piece of Rock & Roll history and Todd sang w/ "The Cars" a few yrs back ...
Couldn't be any better...just awesome 👍
@hannabaal150
Aug. 1992, Calif. Mid-State Fair in Paso Robles... may have been the best show I've ever seen, of probably 250, plus or minus a few.
On "I cant tell you why" with Nils on lead it was totally beyond COSMIC. What a lineup. YO-RING_GO !!!
First saw Mr. Schmit with Poco in late '69 or early'70. What a voice.
Great background harmony singers here....cool.
Very nice. Beach Boys style of perfection.
Great uplifting acoustic harmonies
Great tune and great artist.
Love Timmy's voice!
I love his voice!
Great !!! Another group of massive talent !!!
@Elaine D - I did exactly the same myself many years ago when Poco were supporting America on tour.
is that todd doing harmonies
Didn't even know Tim knew what a guitar was. Such a talented artist
love the song ... its a classic ... there is no doubt it will be around forever
love these awesome musicians!!!!!!
Eagles charged too much, damn them. Not like Tom Petty! But TBS what a voice!
Ehi !!! Timothy è italoamericano !!!!!!!!!
@Topkat311 I was also lucky enough to see this incarnation of the All-Starr Band. It was 1992 at the Greek Theater in LA. The BEST ever!
Keith Hernandez on backup vocals!
Lol.....Burton Cummings and Keith Hernandez do look very similar!!
Well, this is a gem from Poco for all we know Timothy was an original member before to joying The Eagles
Rick Bruni Actually, no. He took Randy Meisner's place in Poco, too. Meisner left Poco after the 1st album was recorded but before it was released (hence his not being pictured on the cover)...Tim joined Poco right after the 1st album was released, in time for the subsequent tour.
No, he was with Jim Messina before joining Poco. Poco was already recording at that point.
Richie Furay, Randy Meisner, George Grantham, Rusty Young and Jim Messina.
God Bless this humble and great song!
Eye spy Burton Cummings 🤷♂️
Awesome song!
Can listen to Timothy literally all the time.beautiful guy ,when are you coming to the uk
I’m pretty sure that’s Glen Frey in background
Nope
Take a good look at the lineup in the description.
Burton Cummings guess who
