      incogneto I still don’t get your thought process? Why do you think that is a comment from a black person? What because he used the word “Bro”; my 7 year old uses “Bro” when he is joking around with me. You think a white person can’t praise a black person? Why am I even waisting my time here? Rory is amazing at his job so let’s leave it at that 👍🏻 People like you are way too hung up on colour.....it’s very sad and very narrow minded.

You will begin to see the tech in cars become more & more reliable as the years go on!!! Because 5-10 years ago, it was the bleeding edge of tech. Now its pretty basic stuff. Just like 5-10 years ago, Navigation systems were finicky and unreliable. Where now they are pretty damn amazing and work EXTREMELY well. The rest of the other tech stuff is the same now. • @grayfool
      @grayfool 3 роки тому

      @@snyggmikael I'm not complaining. Do these things actually make the car better to drive? To me they just add complication for no real gain in the actual function of the car. In fact, it could be agued that a lot of these so called safety systems take away the responsibility of the driver. It also is true that a lot of modern cars are written off because of the cost to repair these systems. I have no issue with EV's. We need to make actual progress not just adding toys for the marketing department to have added copy for the brochure. EV's are the way forward. Hey Mr Reid, Nice review for the Golf. I love new technology and with the new golf it certainly will be no exception for me. Its certainly a car I will not mind having on my driveway. While the golf will not be categorized as a fun car as something like Suzuki Swift another car which I love and own. As a comfy car I think it works better. It will suit people who loves a relaxing drive and with the driver aids it compliments this concept much more. The Car 2X though. While the new golf can talk to other golfs and possibly newer cars with this tech in the near future. I think there should be some sort of add on device to add to other older cars so as the system works better.

      It's not even about being 35+, it's about understanding what's more efficient. I'm 28 and a huge technophile, and I think this was an extremely dumb move.

      @Jerry Rawlings why wouldn't you spend 25k on a mainstream hatchback? Not sure you understand how many options you lose if you move up in the range. An A-class for the same price has significantly less kit for example.
      My opinion is that in any given budget you should buy a mid or higher equipped car for it to make sense (unless your budget is very low and you just can't afford a mid equipped car). I see people with last-gen A4s with halogen headlights (Xenon has been standard for like 7 years) because they buy the absolute minimum-spec model that you can only buy on a company. It's an insanely poor value proposition. Could have gotten a higher-spec Passat instead, they're virtually the same car, but I guess you don't look rich in a Passat. I mean you don't look rich in an A4 either, but don't tell them that cuz you're wasting your time.

    That is a fantastically informative review of what it's like at the controls of a smartphone on wheels that drives and handles really well. It also confirms that it's a case of tech going just a little bit mad. Just as well you will never get a screen freeze as you scroll through menu/sub menu to do the some of the basics while trying to make sure you're actually watching the road ahead... OMG. I think a lot will look elsewhere and that's not just technophobes.

    There's gonna be alot of accident with touch screen cause you will always look at the heat numbers and volume etc, everything on the menu. Where as analog it was just a switch. You would turn on heat and AC without looking, same with radio. While driving it should be simplified to keep drivers eyes on the road and not distracted by digitized New dash.

    Yeah, I’m not keen on the new front either, but don’t spend my life complaining about it in the comments section. Come on, if VW just did what they normally do with the Golf, and put some new bumpers on it, change the headlights and call it the “New” one, then everyone would be complaining that “iT’s JuST AnOTheR gOLf” and “it’s boring”. It’s different, it’s a change. For once the Golf has a nice looking interior, and doesn’t just look like everything else on the road. It’s got advanced technologies, and it isn’t just a safe design to keep the sales ticking over.
    Yeah, it divides opinion, and it’s good too see that - not everyone likes it, but that’s why everyone drives DIFFERENT cars, because no one has the same taste.

    Interesting review 👍. The touchscreen climate controls etc are putting me off. But is it just a case of getting used to it? The max fan button next to the auto lights buttons could be a life saver 🤔. Fan strength, heat , volume and skip are really all I need physical buttons for if I can get used to the unusual slider controls it’s a possible new car for me. I’ll need to go to the dealership, any input from owners on here would be good 😊 I’m Scottish so voice recognition can sometimes be difficult .

    Touch screens mean you have to take your eyes off the road to see what you’re doing, buttons and knobs stay put. They put all that effort into building infrastructure to avoid accidents whilst at the same time increasing the risk of one.

    I sat in a MK8 in a showroom. My biggest issue wasn't that everything is touch screen, but the interior quality was cheap. It was an R-Line version but the plastics were scratchy, there was bits of trim coming loose (where you keep your mobile phone in centre console), seat fabric felt thin, steering wheel was wrapped in leather but felt hollow and cheap. Real shame really when comparing to my MK7. I was looking to get the MK8 R to replace my current 7R but doubt it now :(
