The seats are there for insurance purposes. Strict two seaters, the typical sports car, often get slapped HARD with higher insurance rates. But 2+2 coupes or four door sedans usually see some leniency on insurance rates.
Always boggled my mind regarding what owners want from those rear seats in 2+2s, you either want rear seats or you don't. Either get a full four seater or get a two seater 🤷♂️
Well your 'average' German coupes' rear seats -like the C-Class coupe, 4 series etc. - are actually pretty usable. Even for shorter adults. Not the most comfortable, but they're usable. Only when it comes to serious performance and super cars does it become a bit silly with how small the seats are.
I’m not sure if that’s still a thing, but those extra 2 seats might be able to lower your insurance cost…I been told a couple years ago by my insurance guy that 2 door 2 seat car’s insurance cost more than those cars with 4 door 4 seats. But hey, if a guy afford an AMG GT, I really don’t think a couple hundred dollars a year makes any impact to them…I doubt if they really notice the differences.😅
They do indeed have isofix. Even if you don't need them for kids, those kind of seats are still useful for shopping bags, backpacks and small suitcases though, so I wouldn't call them useless.
@@timepiece_enthusiast I stand corrected but I can’t help feeling a bench for carrying luggage would be a better alternative. Definitely not big enough to carry an adult. I’m sure on a new 911 they have deleted the rear seats but you can option them back in FOC
@@adrianbennett3761 It's for sure not meant to carry adults. I think even Mercedes themself claim that the rear bench is meant for passengers up to 150cm tall, so early teen kids at most. It's the same as with the 911 on this AMG though, standard is a two seater with just some empty space behind the seats, the rear seats are optional, so you don't have to get them.
They're meant for children and small adults. If you're in a pinch, it's handy to know you can legally seat 2 more people in your car , particularly if it's just a small journey.
You need those seats in order to be able to fold them down for a larger trunk space... You can't fold down the version without back seats, probably for sound insulation or something
Those seats have purpose Bcz the tax for hyper car or super car 2 seats is much more They put 2 useless seats for dropping the taxes In this case, you have a hyper car with low taxes ❤

which show how stupid the insurance companies are
Glad that someone else knows that
Learn something everyday… thanks

I’ve heard it makes the insurance rate different.
Lol that's ridiculous 😂
@@TD1237 agreed I have an m4 and can get four adults in fairly comfortably
Those seats are for shopping bags 😂
And chihuahuas
@@fashionablylate888 Or Golf 🏌️Clubs.
@fashionablylate888 Also my two teacup poodles.
Nah he got the 4 seater, it has headrests
Which you cannot reach if you put it behind you.
Legroom is aw aw 😂😂. That shall be a new rating title
I wonder what far-future historians will say about these 2door inaccessible/impractical rear-seat cars
Whoa! They looked like fun, instead of the boring suvs that dominated the era

That's a gentleman's muscle car❤
They are completely pointless unless they have isofix so that babies can be carried

23" inch rims, black ceeling, S-line badges and it doesn't matter how much it costs. Just be sure to get a back referal with it.
The state of those rear floor mats now!!
@@asteve4914 painful to watch
You don't need a seatbelt back there. If you can't move, you aren't going anywhere in a crash either.
I think the back seats is just for your expensive bag or little things.
I still think this is a rebagged c class coupe. And the cle is an e class coupe replacment
It's for insurance purposes. Makes the vehicle cheaper to insure cause it's not considered a roadster.
What is the intended segment for this car. Seems like a size of Audi TTRS or bmw m2 but wayyyyy more expensive
Those seats are a package shelf to belt your bags into.
Damn did you get enough dirt from your shoes back there? 😆

Perfect for a trip to the South of France! 😂
I think the back seats are for people up to 1 mt tall.
So they ruined the look and handling of this car just to fit some useless rear seats. Great
Backseats only big enough for 2 years olds and book bags
Amazing how car manufacturers after 100 years of making cars, still can’t figure out the backseat
Now try to get that dirt out.
Sounds bad
Insurance is less with 4 seats.
Perhaps insurance rates are lower for 4-seaters, even if they're never used.
Those are for medium-sized dogs max.
Those rear seats would make me so claustrophobic. I wouldnt sit there even if i did fit.

It should be a 2 sit only.
Those are for the Uber passengers.
Very sexy car especially in their reddish colour 😢 those seats are for kids and bags ofcos.
Who puts pasengers in those seats lol its luggage space. I don't even have people in the back of a saloon thats built to take extra people
And it's a gogantic car, too 😂
Car only weighs 1950 kg, let's add a couple of rear seats and reach 2000kg 🎉
Those seats are for punishing people
I'm 5'4" and i don't think I'd fit in there
Those rear seats are for kids 😂
my friends are like 5’0 - 5’1
The backseats are for kids.
Good enough for 2 pomeranian dogs...😅
Wud not want 2 get out in an emergency! Or that’s I cud not get out in an emergency.
Clearly you're not grown up 😂 which is a very good thing!
Pointless rear seats, they should make it just 2 seater
Why these type of cars even have rear seats, they're pointless, take them out, increase 0=60
Why do mercedes don't make a 4 seater. They fools
So it’s a 2+1/4 1/4….. 🤷🏾♂️
Haha no way
🤣🤣🤣🤣 sardine mercedes
🌈
You just trashed the whole back seat of the car just to prove a point we already knew 😂 Thanks tho, it was funny.
It doesn't look special at all
