So it's got something to do with moisture potential damaging the cell in the battery if sitting directly on concrete plus the battery will drain fast when in use so less amphours overall if sitting on concrete.
@@nicholasweston1576 I did some reading and it seems that is not the case anymore, but figured it wasn't worth the risk - so I popped them on some heavy duty rubber based carpet tiles :)
Me sitting in Queensland thinking Melbourne stage 4 has no harsh effects on me. "Hi guys, sorry. Melbourne stage 4 has slowed things down" This has gone too far. Now my reef tank build on youtube is affected. Dam COVID is affecting my youtube media. My world is crumbling. Love the tank build. Keep it up.
Please consider proper ventilation when boxing in the batterys. If not, the hydrogen could form a explosiv mixture wich only needs one little spark. So better nothing that restricts airflow significantly.
Why dont you cycle the rocks in a separate barrel before the carpenter come???and then when you install it. You can simply put the rocks or media in the aquarium and full water and you have a cycyled tank
Sorry you’re having to deal with this lock down Sam. It’s frustrating to say the least. The tank is coming along nicely even though this pandemic has put the brakes on your build..
Bummer Sam, covid is taking its toll on the world for sure. Enjoyed the video, it’s been a while, slow progress is frustrating, but you’ll get there in the end, whenever that is, cheers 🍻 mate. 👍🏴
Hello I was wondering what was the tank dimensions is that custom made? I really like the depth of it, I am interested in setting up a Nuvo 150 int which is 48x36" Thank you
Thank you this is fantastic! I really like the depth of it reason why I was interested in the Nuvo 150 cause it is also the same depth. Is it possible to order custom from waterbox I am very often on their website. But never saw a tank like this. Thank you
Okay, like you I just got a brand new shiny tank from waterbox (peninsula 25). Mine is much smaller and less epic but compared to my 10 it seems huge. I am super paranoid about scratching it while cleaning algae. What is your plan?
Awesome - Plumbing is great choice - sucks you need to wait... I'd be cycling in a bucket under a small light ;) Skoda - nice The funny thing is what it means in Czech... LOL
@@ParkersReef Well it's a family name - but it means damage - like a Czech saw a car crash they would say skoda! instead of "oh no" - I always thought it was super ironic but the Czechs don't at all. They have seem to dissociate these things. Like people grow up in a suburb and I say "you are from Honeyland or Mosquitoville" and they are like "what do you mean"? - then I explain it and they go blank like they never thought of it. They are perfectionists though - that is for sure - those cars are well made - I feel like 50% of the cars are Skoda here and there are still a lot of 20 - 30 year old ones on the road and even the odd classic that are just standard.
Ace video mate, you will get there, just weird unpredictability with everything atm. Just you and family stay safe that’s the most important thing for sure 😀👍👍
Cheers man, a few have said that. Checked into it and apparently that’s not the case anymore. Used to be the case back a few decades, but batteries are made differently now. Either way, I’ve popped them up on some rubber backed carpet tiles to be safe :)
Based on your other purchases, I assume you bought a NYOS skimmer, as they are the most expensive. LOL, your plumbing alone cost more than my 125 gallon tank and stand. Good luck sir!
I was reading an article on electricity in Australia and supposedly its complete crap and really expensive...any truth to that and if so wouldn't a generator be a safer longer lasting backup should it all go to shit! Im impressed with your planning on this tank!
Really depends where in australia you are. Our power here is very reliable, but it will have an outage once or twice a year for an hour or two. This didn’t cost me a lot, will give me peace of mind and I can expand it easily too if need be 👍🏻
@@ParkersReef First off, I enjoy your channel,. That said, the point of my post was to refute the notion that setting a battery on concrete will somehow degrade or weaken the battery. Modern batteries are constructed using hard plastic shell that eliminates the intake of moisture from surfaces such as concrete. Years ago when batteries had a wood case or porous rubber shell than it wasn't advisable to set a battery on a surface where the case could wick moisture. Now it won't "hurt" to set the battery on foam etc. Myself I would buy an inexpensive hard plastic tray like used in your car. There available with a carrying strap for 10 USD or so. One could actually make the case that setting the battery on concrete may actually extend the life of the battery as the floor acts like a heat sink. Look forward to seeing your tank design reach fruition
@@RobTeeJr Yeah that was what I read too... I have lifted them up onto some carpet tiles now just to keep everyone happy - but you're right, the heat sink capability of the concrete could actually help?
Looking forward to the regular updates Sam 👍👍👍
You and me both!
This tank will survive the impending apocalypse, loving it man, fingers crossed restrictions ease real soon
Fingers crossed!!
Loved your last tank n this tank looks to be better already
Hoping this will be a significant step forward :)
Thanks for the idea with the electric desk stand I will be incorporating it on my new 300 gallon build!!!
Glad I could help!

I know the feeling regarding the slow progress mate! Same boat here! Looks like your still getting stuff done and have some great ideas as usual!
Victorian UA-camrs struggle in 2020 😂
We’ll all get there though 👍🏻
correct me if im wrong but i was alwasy told not to put batteries directly on concrete like that, even for storage. cant remember why tho

Definitely put the batteries on a plank of wood
Will do!

Certainly did as yes, it can be dangerous

I was always told never to put batteries directly on concrete floors the concrete will drain them and make them go bad any truth to that?
Yeah used to be the case with old technology batteries, not so much anymore. None the less, I’ve put them on some carpet tiles :)

Keep your magnet cleaner free of obstruction and you'll be fine :)

This is slow !!!!!
Do you not use an aquarium controller like an apex?
No I don’t, keen to see the new hydros controller though!
Parkers Reef you gotta get one man even if it’s just for monitoring and not control it’s a game changer
Love the thought u have put into things s tank can’t keen to see in n running 😀
You and me both mate!
Parkers Reef the wait would be killing me . But sure worth it in the end 👍👍
You bet :)
Hi mate I’m waiting to see what you are gonna use for cycling the tank. I hope it’s not DrTims One and Only because I had a bad experience.
I’m just planning on time :)

What is it between stand and the tank: foam or wood? Thanks
Foam and acrylic
Why did you choose not to go with a dedicated generator?
I’ll cover it in the video for the power generator, but it was highly considered - just not affordable
How many gallons is this again?
about 380 :)
Very exiting god I’m excited I can’t wait for more videos
Will have more shortly!
Another awesome video
Thank you :)

Hehehehehe
You need way way way bigger 👌
Hahahaha I think that’s big enough :)
oh my goodness good progress!!! balloons!! HAHA jokes love the tank man take it slow and easy
Haha yeah my daughter is “helping” with the tank hahaha
Modern batteries are not affected by concrete. The primary killer of batteries is heat.
Appreciate the info, still - won’t hurt for me to pop them up on a bit of foam or something?
