WOW, This is So Pretty, Inviting and Safe for Your Little Ones. YOU were such a Hard Worker and it Really Paid Off. I had NO Idea it would cost that much but the Entire Area looks like it has been there from the Inception. Just Beautiful. Thank You So Much for Sharing the Real Numbers too-:)))
Well.. The end goal was to have a safe a nice place for your kids to make memories and you did a good job.. Now as they get older you can add things as you go.. You had a plan and you did it. It will add value to your property so win win.. I cleared a field behind my house over 30 years ago and I am enjoying it every day. It doesn't look as good as yours but it's also a bit bigger. Hahah I planted some apple trees and we enjoy watching the deer enjoying them now. Keep up the great work as a dad and husband.. Stay safe and always be kind. Go 603.
Hey Gus! This area is worth every penny for sure! My oldest loves it and my youngest (6months) will enjoy it next year haha wow that’s going to be crazy having the two of them running around like banshees lol! I deff think it’s a value increaser for the property for sure! I’d like to think so! I want to plant some apple trees too! Just don’t know where there isn’t much sun cause we are surrounded by 100ft pines hahah anyways thanks for tuning in Gus! God Bless! Go 603!
Clearing land can get very expensive. A tree company wanted 30000 to clear my lot and take all the wood. Almost all oak. So I’m doing it myself. Learn by doing 👍🏻
Hey Aaron! 30k WOW! How big of an area we talking lol? That’s wild numbers! Good luck doing it yourself! I loved the tree clearing part that was the funnest part! Thanks again!
I'm clearing the trash trees off a 1/4 acre to plant a small fruit orchard. The smaller saplings, I bust them out with a pick and cut off the rootball and chip the rest. My tool investment was a wood chipper, chainsaw with several replacement chains, and some other tools such as a basic hedge trimmer, pole saw, reciprocating saw and pruning blades; around 1200 in expenses. There is a local guy who grinds the stumps because an excavator will just trash the soil profile... If you are wondering about the hedge trimmer, its awesome to cut vines off the fence wire, saved me a lot of time when dealing with thorns. Also purchased a 1/2 inch tree rope, necessary to pull leaning trees or rig the limbs to avoid damage. The firewood is cut to length and donated to the needy in our community (we have oil heat). My estimation of the work done on a half acre of neglected land would have cost me 5-8 thousand from various contractors.
Hey Jay!!!! It's not cheap to do anything like that. By me here in Wisconsin to clear land it's anywhere from $3500-$5000 an acre. That's just to pop the stumps out and push them with the brush into piles. It's alot of work to clear land. I think you did an amazing job on it!!! Stay safe my friend!!
Hey Tim! Yes the land clearing could have been huge money but luckily I got some serious saw time and loved dropping those trees. That 97ft pine I dropped was my favorite! I had a small 8ft window I had to drop it in and BOOM she landed where I wanted LOL I loved it so much! Cant replicate time on the saw! Thanks again Tim! Stay safe!
Hey Rich! It’s already worth every penny! The kids love it haha well my oldest is the only one who can play on it lol my youngest is 6mon old hahah next year they both will be running around like crazy! Thanks for tuning in!
Hey Jay, we just got back from being evacuated here in Oregon, big fire got within 8 miles or so. We got lucky our area survived, no damage! It looks like we missed a lot, will have to catch up on what's been going on with you!👍🏻✌🏻️
Hey Alan! Wow sorry to hear the evac news that’s crazy! Glad the fire spared your area! I’m sure it’s nerve wracking for sure! God bless for sure! Thanks for coming over and tuning in while you are in the middle of a crazy time! Stay safe!
Whew! Spendy! Looks good though Jay!! You’ll be enjoying that space for years to come. You’ll need a shed for all the kids toys soon. 😁 *Keep on tractoring!*
Hey Ritter! Yes it’s money well spent for sure! Can’t complain there haha the kids love it! They are already stacking up quite the toy list lol I may need a small shack for sure!
Wow, clearing land is the most costly thing in homesteading! We recently bought our 18 acres. All wooded and started clearing it last week! It should cost us less than $5000 out of pocket! I will be posting how we did it!
Hey Rancho! Thanks for tuning in! Glad you are making progress on land clearing! Its such a rewarding thing to transform land into something great! Stay safe and God bless!
Hi Jay! Thanks for the cost breakdown on the playground project! Wow! I had sticker shock on the fencing! Seems more like the price of a poured concrete wall! Okay, maybe a bit of an exaggeration but geeze! Thanks for sharing!
Enjoyed the video.. Hi from Southern Virginia!! We have 4.5 acres total but we want to get 2 acres cleaned up besides the 1 acre the house is on. The 2 acres were cleared for trees but the young trees are starting to grow back plus all the dead trees, stumps and brush the loggers left behind before we ever purchased the land. Just wana clean it up an make it green. Hard to find folk that wont charge the brakes off us.. Thanks for the tips!!

Great Video. Im planning a project in the UP of Michigan. This will really help me out. I dont see your breakdown for cost per stages, tree clearing, stump removal ext...I wish to make a spread sheet and use your info and a guide line. please tell me where i can find this. Thanks
Hey Mike! Just keep a spread sheet of the following: 1. Tree removal 2. stump removal 3. fill brought in/top soil 4. grading 5. seeding 6. permits etc... These are a good starting point for any land clear project.
Title is a bit misleading since the tree clearing was not included. I was wondering about the cost of "land clearing" with trees vs. cost of cutting trees down.
Hey Jeremy its impossible to diagnose a lot. Land clearing is a unique thing as every lot is going to be different. For example are you looking at a old growth stand with a boat load of timber trees? Are you looking at a lot thats all brush? There are so many different landscapes and lot thicknesses and species so its impossible to make a video on "land clearing in general" this video was prompted by a subscriber who asked what it cost to transfer the "playground" I transformed from woods to usable space! Thanks for tuning in!
@@HomesteadJay I didn't mean to say I don't appreciate the explanations you did provide, but when I saw the title I was hoping for something else. Thank you for the video.
Land clearing is just that clear the land not all the other stuff but you could of had a wood burner come and clean just for wood you naming all the stuff unless specified you want done i owed a land clearing business retired now but I would of looked around could of got better price and that wood behind you come off the land if so that's a savings on firewood figure how much wood you got and price 6:21
Well no actually it depends on the land. I.E. hills/flat also depends on how much timber is there to harvest or is it all brush? Is there any wetland set backs? Access to main roads? this video was for MY area we cleared but theres not clear cut "price" per acre to clear in any state there are so many variables to consider.
@@HomesteadJay What would be you estimated labor costs? We can't just jot down "free" when it looks like $2000 worth of labor. What would you have charged someone else for it?
@@crowdoftheavatar4042 Oh I miss understood what you meant by the first question. Its hard for me to gauge a price since I am not a tree service. I took 40 trees down of varying size and it took me almost a week to do it. So lets say $100 hour X 40 hours. Id say $4000? I dont know really. I am sorry but I cant put a exact price on it. if I was a tree service Id have to drop everything, limb it, chip the limbs, haul the wood away so theres all costs involved in that.
Great video and love your honesty sharing this info. Unfortunately you got some stupid great deals and the pricing you're sharing is super unrealistic and misleading to the general public. Couldn't replicate this in 99% of the country. Looks great though and kudos on getting the deals.
I think u are a bullshitter or people in your area are stuck with prices from 1970 Hydroseeding at a low end is 10 cents a sq ft he has 7800 sq ft so that’s 780.00 and he said people graded it for him and most Hydroseeding companies charge 15-20 cents he said a triaxle of topsoil is 200.00 what planet is he from try double that price like I said either this guy called a 1000 companies and found some guy sleeping
I have connections so these were the prices I got. This was for a project I did at my home and people were asking the cost of things. Thanks for watching!
Not realistic at all! Once you start with the "hey I had guy"......! You're describing a hookup situation which not even close to usual! So this video is pretty much worthless to the average person undertaking a similar project!!
You can sell standing timber for sure. This case I didn’t cause I used it personally but if you have a lot you can have a logging company come out and they can price out what it’s worth in timber
