    After editing this video, I realized I should have been very clear about the fact that Bluecruise has a hands free mode and Autopilot doesn't.

      From Tesla's descriptions, none of their ADAS systems has a hands free mode. You are suppose to put torque on the steering wheel even in Full Self-Driving. It will be interesting to see if blocking the driver cameras will cause an alert after the recall fix.

      Release notes: "2. Over-the-Air (OTA) Recall
      In accordance with a recent recall (campaign # 23V-838 for US and # 2023-657 for Canada) Tesla is making the following improvements to Autosteer:
      - Improved visibility of driver monitoring warning alerts on the touchscreen by increasing the text size and moving the notifications to a more prominent position (Model 3 & Y only)
      - Added option to activate Autopilot with a single stalk press, instead of two, to help simplify activation and disengagement
      - Increased strictness of driver attention requirements when using Autosteer and approaching traffic lights and stop signs off highway
      - Introduced a suspension policy that will restrict Autosteer for one week if improper usage is detected. Improper usage is when you, or another driver of your vehicle receive five "Forced Autopilot Disengagements"

    I would prefer the other systems' method of resuming after lane changes. I would be annoyed if I had to keep reactivating the system when I had to correct something. I also would not like any jerking to the center of the lane. We have some disappearing and unusual lane markings in my area that I would not travel with any ADAS system on.

    As for the “rainbow road”; works great to give an obvious indication that “auto pilot” is turned on but after a while it is quite annoying.

    Valid points! I had blue cruise and now I have Tesla FSD and I have to say I hate the nag for autopilot on the Tesla compared to BlueCruise. Also the autopilot doesn't allow lane change unless you pay for the 6k add on.. lol. Bluecruise is better for Autopilot by far because no nagging.

    • @dmunro9076
      @dmunro9076 9 місяців тому +2

      You probably have basic Autopilot ( lane centering and adaptive cruise control), which is standard on all new Teslas. Your car may be able to use the FSD software, but that's a 12 or 13 grand option.

    I’m not super pro Tesla, or what not, but you also did not mention that Ford’s system has a monthly charge after the trial., Which I think is a year, right?

      Depends on the year and the options. We've had a Mach-E for 3 years now. Our "trial" expires in 2025.

    Patrick, yes you found the issue I found, the inconsistency of disabling autopilot by engaging the signal change, some times it disables it and other times not, still trying to figure that out. I think I noticed an improvement on lane orientation when you end a passing lane or merge lane, it has improved on how it now drifts slowly into recentering.

    • @rickkay9548
      @rickkay9548 6 місяців тому +1

      Sadly Mercedes’s drive pilot is a junk system. Only works at 40 mph (which no one drives on a freeway unless in traffic), works only on a few roads that have to be scanned first (CA, NV with clear lane markings, will not work in a tunnel or if a leading car is too far ahead (requires gps, tunnels block it and needs a lead car within close range), doesn’t work in rain or snow or at night, and no construction around. FSD beta is the best system available

    My wife and I rented a Tesla while down in St George Utah.
    Blue cruise is a far better product.
    We found Tesla auto pilot to be very rigid and will turn off if you try and deviate just a little, say to avoid debris or a pot hole in your lane where BC you can guide the Mach E to one side or the other of the lane your in.
    The other annoying thing was the constant bong bong from the Tesla as AP would turn off and on, and it turned off and on a lot, where BC is on or on stand by.
    My overall feeling for the Tesla was that it didn't live up to the hype when coming from a Mach E.
    Tesla AP is more like Fords Autopilot 360.

  • @officialyasir

    Autopilot is a standard feature, free for life on every Tesla. Ford BlueCruise is a paid subscription. This is not really a fair comparison. You should compare Autopilot vs whatever comes standard on the Mach E and BlueCruise should be compared with Enhanced Autopilot or FSD.

    • @MachE_VLOG
      @MachE_VLOG  9 місяців тому +3

      It would be comparable to Ford's ICC that is hands on. A pretty valid comparison since I didn't even really cover the hands free feature of Bluecruise. It does lane centering, adjust speeds based on traffic, etc. and is pretty much identical with Basic Autopilot.

    • @officialyasir
      @officialyasir 9 місяців тому

      @@MachE_VLOG How does lane changing work when ICC is engaged? Do you have to disengage and re-engage like Autopilot to change lanes?

    • @MachE_VLOG
      @MachE_VLOG  9 місяців тому +2

      @@officialyasir Nope. You turn on the blinker and that allows you to make the lane change. Once you turn your blinker off and it detects the new lane, it automatically reengages. Rivian just updated their system to perform in the same manner. It makes a huge difference to me.

    My wife has a 2023 Mach E performance in vapor blue. I have a 2023 model S long range. Blue cruise is good 👍. But Tesla is just the leader you should try beta fsd. But ford blue cruise is really good. One more thing you are being a little pretty nit picky just saying.

    • @MachE_VLOG
      @MachE_VLOG  9 місяців тому +4

      We mentioned in the first minute of the video that we tried FSD Beta and linked to the video. One, FSD Beta had issues as well and two, it costs $12,000. I don't think it is nitpicky to point out issues in a review. Slowing down for those trucks is truly disturbing and the necessity to reengage after ever lane change is annoying to me,.

    • @aaronhorn6849
      @aaronhorn6849 9 місяців тому

      I don't think Patrick is being nit picky. I have had 2 Mach Es and by the end of the first day driving a Tesla, had picked up every point mentioned here. But I'm sure the Tesla we drove had an older software version.
      AP is basically the same as ford's pilot 360. The Tesla has a lot more improvements to make as it, at that time, was 'labour intensive to use. Also the constant bong bong sound gets annoying where ford will just turn back on when it is safe to do so.

    Hi guys! Another great video! I am curious - does it only break from autopilot on steering wheel torque or does it also disengage if you accelerate? (I assume it would disengage if you hit the brakes just like a normal cruise control would).

    • @MachE_VLOG
      @MachE_VLOG  9 місяців тому

      It allows you to accelerate and it keeps Autosteer on. When you let off the accelerator, it gradually slow back down to the speed you set. Bluecruise and other systems we've tried operate in the same way. I believe a small warning screen pops up that says something like, "Accelerator is being pressed. Autopilot braking will not engage." It figures you are now controlling the speed and are responsible if you need to brake.

    • @algru5251
      @algru5251 9 місяців тому +2

      Also, if you accelerate hard beyond the AP capabilities (85 or 90 mph, somewhere there), then the AP will disengage and stay disabled until the next ride. So, if you use AP and need to pass someone really quickly, it makes sense to disengage the AP before accelerating.

    • @MachE_VLOG
      @MachE_VLOG  9 місяців тому

      @@algru5251 Good point. And that is fairly easy to do in some states like Utah where the speed limit is 80 mph on many interstates.

    Hi guys! AP currently doesn't respond to the interior camera the way FSD does, it hasn't progressed in many releases of FSD, which is where the company is focusing its efforts. It's a dramatic drop back to AutoPilot if you are used to driving with FSD. And the trucks size is what's causing the slowdowns, if you were in the fast lane instead of next to the trucks the car wouldn't slow. It doesn't like to travel quickly past a potential pinch point. You'll see chevrons in the lane if it wants to slow down because of how slow the next lane over is going. Why do you keep turning off AP when changing lanes? Rainbow Road is one of the many easter eggs in the toy box under the [...] icon at the bottom of the display

    • @MachE_VLOG
      @MachE_VLOG  9 місяців тому

      According to the manual, it says it is using the interior camera. And the slowing down is really odd since no other ADAS that we have tested does that. With the latest version of Bluecruise, it will scootch over slightly next to a big truck which is a really nice feature.

    • @israndy
      @israndy 9 місяців тому

      @@MachE_VLOG That is not my experience, if I start reading texts on my phone FSD will almost immediately ask me to pay attention, while AP will just let me go about my business as long as I have my hand on the wheel. That seems to be your experience too in blocking the camera in AP didn't bring up a warning. I do think you were accidentally tugging the wheel when you asked it to change lanes instead of giving it time to do it itself, which is why it dropped out of AP for you as Liv commented near the end.

    • @MachE_VLOG
      @MachE_VLOG  9 місяців тому

      @@israndy Then the manual needs to be corrected or else owners will continue to be misinformed. It says, "The cabin camera can determine driver inattentiveness and provide you with audible alerts, to remind you to keep your eyes on the road when Autopilot is engaged."
      Liv was talking about the engagement process. It isn't very smooth if you turn on AP and you aren't centered before doing so. We had an instance of that early on in the video.

    It's funny how you repeatedly misinterpreted Tesla's safety feature of slowing down when the next-lane traffic is slow (and the car shows you that on the screen) as "phantom" breaking. It's not, and considering the amount of blogging and vlogging you've done, it's not really excusable. Please correct your video. Thank you.

    • @MachE_VLOG

      Safety feature? How is it safe to quickly slow from 75 to 65 mph just because there is a truck in the other lane? No other system does anything like that because it is dangerous in traffic. With BlueCruise, it will scooch over in the lane but it never slows down. We've tested systems from Mercedes, Kia, Hyundai, Rivian, Chevy, Toyota, Lexus, Subaru, Polestar, and others. Tesla is the only one that slows down passing a truck.
