- Thanks to our spontaneous friend Kyle Connor, we suddenly had an opportunity to take a quick test drive in this Rivian R1S and we couldn't resist hitting record and taking you along for the ride!
It was great to be back in a Rivian after our time in the R1T and it definitely refreshed our memories about all the things that we really like about them.

Current '23 Mach-e Prem owner here...pretty sure my next car will be R2 at end of my lease. Ford makes good hardware but they are awful at software.

Test drove the R1S before buying our Mach-E. I loved the size, it was comparable in size to my former Mercedes GL450 (now GLS450). We loved the size, power and build quality. I feel like I could see an R1S in my garage in a few years!
I love Rivan's build quality and design but one area they are world-leading and will change the world is via their vans
By the way the infotainment look, I can see that this is an old video. Rivian improved the ride feel, motor response and much much more(infotainment included) in the latest updates. It looks totally different and ride like a different car. Maybe give it another try :)
Uh, oh. Liv and Patrick shopping for R1Ses... It seems like Rivians hold their value pretty well, especially if you consider the tax credit for purchasing new.
Great video guys. Rivian is nice but I also really like the EV9. Also very curious about Hyundai’s Ioniq 9. Anyways I hope there will still be content on the Mach-E if you get the Rivian!
The only Rivian we really want is the R3! That would be in addition to the Mach-E - Liv

Do you know if the regen preference is tied to profiles? We love that about our Mach-E cuz I love 1 pedal but my husband hates it so it's nice to have it auto set based on who's driving. I finally got to go around in one at the latest EV event in San Diego and I really liked it, but unfortunately we are an Android Auto/Apple CarPlay family and won't be buying a car without them at this time 🤷♂️. I know Rivian is really trying to add all the missing features to their software stack but even if they could, our second deal breaker is screen vent controls. I couldn't believe how much I had to take my eyes off the road to adjust the airflow off my hands. I just can't live with a car that doesn't have physical controls. It's just the dumbest design element I have ever seen and adds nothing to the user experience.
Going to pick up our R1S max pack in three days! Early pricing plus tax credits makes the cost a lot more appealing!
With the lease deals a few months back, I jumped on an R1T and traded in my Mach E GT. Few things I miss from the Mach E (cough Android Audio), but loving all the storage space on it and the range boost. Wish Ford had something else between the Mach E and a Lightning.
I just watched the Out of Spec video on the Rivian R1S and the issue with thermal management while charging in the summer months in Poway with temperatures in the high 90s and 100s.
Just concerned about the longevity of this company. They were relying on VW money, which they got some of, but doubtful they will get the rest due to the issues VW is having. Great product but company is still on very shaky ground. They also still cannot get a lot of product out either.

Huh. Felt "small," huh? Imagine what the R2 will feel like, then. It really is a premium EV… with a premium price, of course. I know consumers lust for 300+ miles of range, but after our roadtrip to Sacramento last week, it really isn't that necessary. Out bladders can't handle more that 150 to 200 miles at a stretch!
Yeah, the R1T felt big to me but after driving the Lightning and then trying the R1S, it felt small-ish in relative terms.
Thanks for the video. Hubby has an R1T. Our Rivian community is a twice a year camping in South Carolina.
They need to make a T3 or Ford needs to make a plug in Maverick.

It's common for UA-camrs to record something months ago and then release it later. Allows them to spread out their content so there aren't gaps in their posts.
