Hey Kenny, you really touched me deeply when you suddenly stopped talking. It was a very honest moment that made me feel that you had great parents. Thanks to your parents to bring such of nice guy like you that make this world a better place to live. 🙏
This is an incredible video!!! What a great time to be alive.vthe music and the way we listened to it was fantastic!!!!! I used to be an audiophile and then something happened. During the 80s I had an oracle Delphi turntable with a shinon red cartridge. One day I was cleaning the shinon and blew one of the channels. I said to myself, never again. What I had was very expensive. Since then I was happier than I ever was. One Christmas my wife bought me a power supply. Imagine that. What I focused on more and more was the music. I was already doing a radio show and appreciated every moment. All these years later I'm still doing my radio show.
Oh my gosh, thank you so much for sharing. I cannot tell you how much I share your musical influences and background. I am deeply honored and touched that you did so. May the wind be always at your back.
My dad’s records were mostly Mexican artists and of course Herb Alpert. Now my brother he was born in 1950 was a teenager and a hippie in the 60’s. He had all the great rock albums of that decade, Beatles, Stones, Hendrix, Doors, Dylan Zappa, etc. He even had classical and electronic music. By the early 70’s I started collecting records and developed my own taste it included rock, soul, R n B, Jazz and Latin. To this day I keep discovering new music so my taste continues to evolve. Thanks for sharing your story it’s always interesting to hear how you became a music collector. ✌
Kenny, thanks for another thoughtful, powerful and honest video. There is something about music and how it can connect us to those we hold dearest that can be a very emotional thing.
Kenny, I love the stories you share. Your amazingly large collection is only exceeded by the size of your heart. God bless you sir and thanks for sharing.
I've been enjoying watching your videos. Just discovered you and I too am an L.A. native. I remember listening to KJLH (Kindness, Joy, Love, Happiness) on the FM radio in the early 80s. The music is part of the soundtrack of my youth. Good times.
Your touching story about your family moisture the eyes at the end. What a gift to have sibling and parents that care so much about music. My father (died 11 years ago) and my mom (she's turning 90 in Nov.) never deeply cared about music. Nevertheless my dad had a nice Grundig compact stereo with decent speakers in our living room. And although i listened most of the time in my own room the best time in the year was christmas: it was tradition that i (as the only child) had to decorate the christmas tree. So i took specific records to play during my decoration job. And one i always listened complete was The Who "Tommy"...so that's for me the music that comes first to my mind when i think of christmas. My first music expereinces i had when i recorded from the Bayern Radio 3 a lot of popsongs on a portable Philips taperecorder from the 60s. So i got into ABBA and 10cc that were huge in 76/77 when i was 12/13. So although my parents didn't listened aktive to music, they provided the hardware and always supported my devotion to music.
Thank you very much for sharing part of your story I sincerely appreciate that and thank you very much for your kind words about my video. I pray that you mother lives many more great years, it's true a blessing to live that long 🙏.
@@kennysaudiophilerecordreviews Thank you for your kind words, Kenny! I'll tell my mother. She was the one that teached me english when i was about 6 years old by listening to Bruce Low "Noah" 'cause it's refrain was in english. B.t.w. i bought my first Jazzrock album (Return to forever "Romantic Warrior") in August 1981 when i spend 4 weeks holidays in Tacoma with a friend and his relatives. It was the first time i watched a movie in a big theater (Raiders of the lost ark). The 17 year old me has been massive impressed back then.
Thanks! 1960 was a good year! Oct 3rd! Be sure and check out the Jimi Hendrix Burnin' Desire LP that was made available on RSD. Sound is excellent - pressed at QRP. Jimi and The Band of Gypsies kick it!!
As a fellow Angeleno and music lover, I'm happy to support your channel. My brother was also a huge influence on my love for music, even though he doesn't know it and doesn't listen to much music these days. It's great that you still remember your parent's influence fondly. Like one of my favorite The The songs says: "Love is stronger than death"
Nice vid, good to hear about your family, yes carry them in your heart. How about some vids of the music each family member played or influenced you. It would be a fun trip for all.
tq for the great video … v inspirational .. being born in 1960, our story is similar ( except mine was my bro- in-law ) peace to you too sir. azmi, Malaysia
Hey man 🙌 how you doing... I can't understand why some people listen to one genre only 😄 I said that because I've always been able to listen and love songs from all different genres. As a audiophile, do you feel hard to listen to 320 kbps MP3s or you never listen to them? Do you use streaming services to get to know new music? I think the streaming sounds kinda bad. 🙌 God Bless!
Hey...I do not listen to streaming services or mp3 because I have so much to listen too on other formats (vinyl, SACD, HI-RES files) so have no need for them 😁
