Thank you everyone for welcoming me into the flosstube sphere!! I'm so thankful for the interest everyone is showing into my cross stitch journey. I hope that I can share with you all the highs and lows I go through along the way and you can share with me all of yours. Appreciate you all. xx
Johnnie, great first flosstube video! Your Scarlet Wizard is Fabulous! Absolutely beautiful, you did a great job. And I agree with you, Teresa little stitcher is so much fun to watch. I'll keep watching...
Sewing is a basic life skill everyone should know how to do, like cooking a meal, making your bed, laundering your clothing, keeping house. Being a responsible human being basically. I'm old school (at 67) but my lovely sweet mom taught me all, with much love! I had many small kits as a child to learn, but my first skill was being taught to mend a sock at 5. I live when men do needlework! It is ART!! P.S. Globetrotting Stitcher Amy shouted you out this morn!! That stag is gorgeous!
Yes, nothing nicer than shopping in person. I agree with you there. I don't cross stitch but do a little embroidery. I'm an avid knitter really for love all stitchy things.
Thank you, Johnny. I really enjoyed your Flosstube. Felt like we were having a nice conversation. Lovely accent and good info on your hoops. I look forward to your next one!
Welcome Johnnie, we are happy you have joined in the craze. I agree, there are many women, but I love a good merman, wizard, or the fantasy stuff, dragons and such! Match Game a 70's celebrity game show host, did needlework on the plane from New York to CA filming the show! Yea Gene Rayburn!!
Hi Johnnie, lovely to see another male corss stitcher in the community, also from land down below! I love your choice of patterns and I'm looking forward seeing your next video! Take care!
Great video! Excited to see more of your stuff 😆 For the record, I'm totally delighted by monogamous stitchy updates. Just in case you are ever worried about not having enough to show- one or two things or even no things and good intentions is plenty good 👍👍👍😆😆😆
Cross stitching is so relaxing and therapeutic. The pride I feel when I finish a detailed item is awesome. It helps me with my anxiety, the more detailed the better.
Just discovered your Flosstube and I look forward to watching more. I have cross-stitched for 40+ years and never get tired of stitching. Not sure how many flosstubers you have watched but you must watch Fox and Rabbit (Karen and Brendon). They are in Australia too. Looking forward to seeing your future flosstubes.
I am so glad you have entered the world of cross stitch. Very entertaining. I love you painting? Picture? On the wall. It looks like gem specimens. Lakeside needlecraft had a SAL of various gemstones very similar to that. If you like confetti heavy stitching heaven and earth designs , also artery. Looking forward to see what’s next
It’s a print of different type of gemstones. I have a series of them around the house. I also have this lovely one in the kitchen showing different types of citrus fruits.
Hi, your flosstube was recomended by Sarah from her stitchy spot and I was really pleased to have watched you, such a fun video and you have lovely work...going to watch your second video now 🌞
Great first flosstube! Lately I feel like all the flosstube channels I’m recommended offer up similar content. I discovered a few new designers with you which got me excited! It’s also great to hear a fellow Aussie accent ☺️
In your Cross Stitch & Beading book, I believe the design you liked is called Blackwork. I just purchased a blackwork squirrel off ETSY. I love it! Try a small Mill Hill ornament kit to get comfortable beading!
Welcome! If you really like blackwork, you should check out, Ajisai designs, they do blackwork with splashes of color. They're very beautiful but mostly animals and flowers. Can't wait to see more!
Hello from California! My cousin lives in Buderim QLD but for years she lived in NSW. I really enjoyed “meeting” you & I love your Jesus wizard. Lol. I was hoping you were going to get your partner into cross stitch, so I’m glad he took to it so well. Looking forward to your other Flosstube videos!
You are a natural, your comment about not many male subjects depicted in cross stitch patterns is my bugbear, can't wait for artists to catch on. Great video.
Welcome, enjoyed your floss tube. I like your choices of patterns. I do like fantasy but its hard to find patterns. Your stag pattern is beautiful. Look forward see other finishes and patterns that will be upcoming.
Welcome to the stitching community! I love seeing men stitching. We could use more male stitchers and designers to fill that gap of designs that men are more drawn to. Your stitching is very well done, BTW. The designer for Modern Folk Embroidery is Jacob de Graaf. He's one of my favorites.
Hi Johnny, welcome to our stitching community! Not too many guys here, so you’re special😅 If you are into wizards, you would love to stitch the famous Planetarius from Bucilla. Long out of production and hard to find as a kit but totally doable as a pattern with DMC floss. I am working on this fella now, and love it. He is gorgeous ❤

Hi mate! Aussie here too. Melbourne. Great to see another gent doing cross stitch! I love it! Spend hours almost every day. Got several projects on the go. Mainly for family. I started on the hoop but found my hands got sore holding it so now I'm free hand. Look forward to connecting!
Love your flosstube vid! Gorgeous stitching! I want to see more of your stitching so looking forward to more flosstube videos from you 😉. Omg 😱 your making me really want to buy the Halloween ship again now … I need to look away lol!
You're the OG enabler Teresa! Just serving back what you've put out there lol Honestly love your flosstubes. Really stoked to have received a comment from you 🥰
I had the same problem as you when starting out -- all the patterns felt "old" when I was a teenager and weren't the right style for me to consider putting all the time and effort in. I shelved cross stitch as a "just not for me" thing until a few years ago. The gateway-drug in my case was a silly little Pusheen cross stitch kit, haha! I loved the character and even though everything was a little cheap and childish, it got me into cross stitch and I was interested enough to find other patterns and get started in earnest. When I started thinking of it like pixel-art and less like an old-lady craft it was much easier to wholeheartedly embrace the craft. Etsy and small web-based cross stitch shops have much better selections than physical stores! I don't understand why the large stores still exclusively stock "old" cross stitch designs, but they are slowly coming around. Some of them have easier and more modern starter kits like sunflowers or summer-themed patterns and include the basic starting equipment. But I still think that if someone likes that modern type cross-stitch they're going to hit a wall with brick-and-mortar options, at least here in the US -- Australia sounds like the cross-stitch community is much more open and embracing of the newer styles. Those wizard patterns are amazing!! :)
Hello well done on your first ever Flosstube nice to see another male who can rock the needle I am currently doing a wizard from a magazine called world of cross stitch and I called him Stewart 🤣 love all your wips can't wait to see your progress and future vids
Thanks Lurch. There’s only a handful of us but we exist! Hope Stewart gets alot of attention. Wizards. So many. I’m eyeing a new pattern now that’s about $380 😭😭😭
I just stumbled across flosstube, yours is the first I watched. I started doing cross stitch and needlepoint in the 1970's byt I lost most of it in a house fire in 2019. I love to work on scroll frame that keeps the fabric tight without the circle hoop creases but they can be hand held or clamp into the one you use on your table with the book light. Totally enjoyed your share and work.
Sorry to hear about how you lost your projects to a fire. So many amazing flosstubers out there to watch. I hope you find plenty of inspiration out there :)

Welcome to floss tube. Thank you for sharing your journey with us. Love your story about your partner getting into cross stitch as well and how you were being regimented about his stitches. Poltergeist Pirates is a big piece. Glendon Place has some beautiful designs and if it calls for Dinky Dye silks you will love stitching with them. I stitched their piece called Someone We Love in memory of my dad with the recommended Dinky Dyes and it turned out so well that I am going to stitch it again for my daughter in the colors she and her husband had for their wedding, royal blue and kelly green, also in Dinky Dyes. There is a lot of beading in it but it really makes the design. Hope you enjoy your time on floss tube. Happy stitching from the U.S.

Right now I'm knitting lots of socks instead as it's a rather cold winter here in Berlin.
