    There are 3 steps to installing the ventless natural gas fireplace:
    1) create a frame and insert the ventless fireplace into this frame
    2) add DuraRock, or other cement board to the ventless fireplace frame
    3) add a stone veneer to the cement board.
    We previously made a video where we show how to add the stone veneer to the cement board. The video is called: How to Tile a Fireplace - Add Stone Veneer
    A link to that video is below:
    • How to Tile a Fireplac...
    We will soon post a video where we show how to install cement board to the ventless fireplace frame.
    To install a ventless natural gas fireplace, the first step is to build a frame for the unit.
    After that, have a plumber run a natural gas line.
    Hook up the natural gas fireplace to the gas line.
    Hope this helps!

    Removed a section in my camper where the entertainment area is and installed. Works great. Instead of propane furnace heat, I can use this ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxATHBlMJwipGgVWseuAFKvDQ_5R4_lywo to heat the camper as long as it's hooked up to shore power. Only thing I do not like is there does not seem to be a thermostat. I'm presuming it has a built-in one so it does not overheat. Really like all the other color options it has to offer.

    Bought a see thru ventless recently. Came with no glass panels on either side. Ours will be indoor/outdoor. Company we purchased from says that ventless units cannot have glass panels as they need to be open to pull in air to mix with fuel. I thinks this must be incorrect. How can you install a 2 sided to outdoors with no glass.? It looks as though the one in this video has a glass panel. Correct.?

    • @Housebarons
      @Housebarons  3 роки тому

      Hey Aadish,
      Thats probably a question for the manufacturer...but I think that is normal. If the flame were bigger, you couldn't have it on for long - it generates A LOT of heat!

    If it's ventless then the gas from combustion stays in the room? This is not an issue? This sounds like a great idea but can you help me understand why there is no issue with carbon monoxide or other dangerous gases?

    • @Housebarons
      @Housebarons  3 роки тому +4

      Hey thaitichi,
      There is quite some debate about this.
      On the pro side, natural gas burns efficiently and is compared to using a gas stove or oven which aren’t always vented to the outside.
      Ventless fireplace manufacturing is highly regulated for safety.
      On the con side, California, Massachusetts and Canada have banned them. In theory they are safe and in theory they could be unsafe...
      Last I saw, no one has died from a ventless fireplace.
      We have a CO detector on that floor just to be sure all is well.
      It’s a judgement call but we like it. It brings A LOT of heat to the room. A typical vented gas fireplace loses LOTS of heat up the chimney... definitely trade-offs.
      Thanks for watching!

      I had a ventless but ended up returning it. Found out I'm sensitive to even the slightest natural gas smell. Even worse, one of the by products for burning gas is H2O so it caused humidity to raise and condensation on the windows.

    This is great, I just wish you'd shown a little more detail on the framing. Looks like the square top to bottom are 2x4's, correct? In the front, is there also a 2x4 butted up against that front board on each side facing inward?
    On the bottom base (the 4 support boards in between), what size boards those?
    For the cement boards, do you have to tape the seams and corners, or can you just tile right on top since it's not a wet area?

    • @Housebarons
      @Housebarons  3 роки тому +1

      Hey Camala,
      Before we placed the fireplace box in, everything you see are 2x4’s.
      The front corners are (2) 2x4’s one perpendicular to the other to form a corner.
      The base on which the fireplace sits is 5/8 or 3/4 inch plywood supported by the shorter 2x4’s.
      We later added that 2x10 header to help carry the weight if the cement board and tile which is substantial.
      We did not tape, just tiled over it.
      Hope that helps....
      Thx for watching!

      We followed the manufacture directions. We knew the general opening size. But directions gave all the measurements so certain framing parts would not be too close to the firebox.
      We also had it inspected by the building Dept. Fireplaces required a specific inspection.

      @housebarons I noticed that you didn’t use cement board on the inside between the firebox and the frame. • @Housebarons

      No idea. Maybe that’s a question for the manufacturer. I do know that the more yellow the flame, the less clean it is burning.

      @@Housebarons yeah fair enough they are 'legal' in your area, but would you know agree my points a very valid and in some households quite a serious concern. You would need CO2 detectors in the immediate location one that could trigger some auto shut-off to the unit. Theres a lot of serious health concerns that should be noted prior to suggesting this is the best and safe option for everybody.

      Since you can’t see the structure behind the tile and fireplace, it just a guess. You have to pull something away to look behind the walls and get a look at the structure.
