So true, I also hate when people compare it to the flu. I truly wish there was a way for normal non-addicted people to go through just 24hrs of that feeling.......
It is the worst thing I have ever experienced. I've had compound fractures before & I'd take that pain over opiate withdrawals. It truly is a nightmare you dont wake from.....

Muscle aches, restlessness, headaches, sniffles, cold sweats, diarhea, etc. all to the craziest levels of each..people dont understand at all.

@@jxstified7558 The worst for me was always the insomnia, tossing and turning, never comfortable, with your mind racing feeling like your going crazy inside your own head.
I also got to the point I was always nauseous and didn't know if it was because I'd popped some painkillers or because I was entering withdrawal and needed to pop some painkillers. This also caused me to not eat a lot, with me not knowing if I was also nauseous because I ate, or if I was nauseous because I needed to eat.
Weirdly though I never puked or got the really bad/extreme levels of symptoms. After a week or two of bad insomnia, racing thoughts making me feel crazy, never being comfortable, and the constant puffy eyes and runny nose that's also somehow congested, I'd be fine.
Until a few days or weeks later when the process started all over again.

I went through alcohol withdrawal delirium because I had no money to buy beer and I couldn't eat. Worst experience of my life and I am diagnosed with a bunch of mental health disorders. You don't even realize how out of it you are until its over. I just relapsed again and this song always is able to bring me back. Well almost always. If you have an addiction you know this song is just perfect. For me that is enough. I don't care if other people understand, I understand and it's why I am going to uni to get a degree in social work. To help as much as I can if I can stay sober long enough.

From what you guys are describing as deja vu, I assume Jess is a light sleeper. Probably wakes up multiple times a night doesn't get REM sleep as much. That is like me and I also remember most of my dreams. They say the lighter you sleep the more dreams you remember. The good thing I found with that is that I can lucid dream much easier than other people. Makes sleeping feel like an addiction on top of the other things I am addicted to.

Felt very connected to this song in my late teens, still feel connected to the topic but now I mostly listen to Alice in Chains for that emotional fix.
Their song "Junkhead" is often confused as promoting drug use, but it's perfectly describing the mind of an addict. A lot of their songs are about or include themes of drug use, addiction, the dark path it can bring you down and everything that comes with it. Rotten Apple and God Am are also great songs of theirs.
Also I agree about weed, it never seemed like much of a gateway drug to me and I don't usually consider it one. Over the counter and prescription drugs are where you have to be careful.
I got started as a teen on cough syrup, which was just put out on store shelves for anyone to buy and basically has the same effect as Ketamine except it lasts hours(Don't do this, most cough syrups and gels now stupidly have Acetaminophen in them to try and stop "Teen Medicine Abuse", its stupid because it unfortunately also kills you by boxing your liver or at least damaging it if you take enough to get high off it. And we all know how studious dumb teens are about liver toxicity, if they even know what that is).
I eventually moved on to buying painkillers like Norcos and Percocet. In my mid-later teens I also got my own script for Klonopin since I'm an overachiever and have multiple diagnosis for the different types of anxiety I have. I never got too deep into the benzodiazepines though, and there's the bad side effects like thinking doing stupid shits ok or blacking out. Then the fact the withdrawal is literally worse than Heroin withdrawal and can kill you.
Back to the gateway drug debate. A police officer giving a lecture when I was learning security had an interesting perspective on it. He considered weed a gateway drug because while not everyone he busted for smoking weed was a hard drug user, every hard drug user he busted smoked weed.
I can see his point of view, and in my experience he's not wrong; I just don't know if he's right.
