Info for your viewers- Cavalry ride into battle and fight on horseback- Dragoons ride into battle and dismount their horses to fight. That's the only difference.
Funny enough TFE elaborated a bit more as to the difference between the 2 in his more recent video about Percy “hobo” Hobart.
Even Calvery often would dismount and fight so it really is just a matter of degree. Calvery prefers to fight from the horse with sword or gun. Dragoons were those that used Calvery's speed to reinforce infantry and dismounted to use muskets or riffles with better aim. Both were used as shock troops.
I know this because I use them extensively in Empire Total War. They were basically the original mobile infantry

Stories like this in school would get the kids interested and as Wilson feared would over educate them. Wilson's education plans was to produce a workforce and was to shun producing thinkers that would invent or question things. Imagine if everone realized the 3 to 4% taxes was what gave the people the right to overthrow one government and it was a duty to repeat as needed as stated in our founding docs. It is ten times the tyranny in taxes today as old England. The line from the Patriot about trading one for a bunch much closer to home come to mind.
This is the hoodie I bought from The Chubby Electron Guy. I am an Army MP Vet and it has the dueling pistols on the front- the same ones used as the brass and symbol of the MP Corps. Add to the fact that my Great Great Great Grandfather fought in the Revolutionary War ( yes I am a member of the Sons of the American Revolution), it was a no brainer!

@@MikeF_44 Plus he is a regular on the "unsubscribe" podcast. I watched him there the other day and he is just as funny there as he is on his channel. Plus I do believe he is in college for a degree in history so the stuff he puts out it things he as researched heavily.
He only mentioned Paul Revere (of course). Sybil Ludington was a 16-year-old girl who rode twice the distance Paul Revere did in 1777 to warn peopl a British invasion. She navigated 40 miles of rainy terrain at night while avoiding British loyalists and ended up completing her mission before dawn the next day. She was one of the youngest fighters of American Revolution.
Of course! Perhaps, Sybil's ride didn't pertain to the story of Samuel Whittemore and Paul's did. That's probably why he didn't mention her, since, it had nothing to do with her.
Sybil really should be far more well known but that poem about Revere made it so he wound up being the one everyone knows.
I'm more curious if it was Paul Revere, William Dawes, or John Prescott passed his home. Plus, wasn't Sybil Ludington in Pennsylvania and Delaware in like 1777?

I've been to that monument in Arlington and lived there for 2 years. I grew up 1 mile outside of Charlestown, in the early 70's, and it was a rough place back then to say the least.
Was just out visiting the location The Battle of Menotomy where the marker of Samuel Whittemore is and not too far from that location is the bloodiest spot of the April 19th fighting at Jason Russell's house were he was killed along with 11 other Minutemen fighting around his house and inside where it was hand to hand.

I only recently found this fellow, and I have to say, I love his storytelling, I love his energy, I love his style.

Ya. The British are coming comes from the poem Paul Revere's Ride. In edition to not necessarily being accurate in the phrasing it also leaves our the other riders doing the same thing.
I'm the youngest out of 10 kids and my dad is the 5th out of 15 kids.
my paternal Grandpas brother had 16 kids...well, his wife did.
My dad was #6 out of 13. Grandma died giving birth to #7, so he had to find someone else.

It's for humor, I get it, but those "stupid hi-viz red coats" (with lots of buttons, mind) weren't stupid at the time. Back then, the best way to die was to rout, ditching all military gear. Making that gear distinctive and hard to take off actually saved lives when the orders ran "ready, present, fire". Love the story, get the joke, but I just wish people understood the military history.
Different pet peeve, "hurrah" is still a part of our military culture, as "*hoo*-rah!". My guess is that even back in the Civil War days it was pronounced more that way than the current "her-rah!". in civilian use. The civilian way doesn't sound confident when performing a charge in battle. That's me, decide for yourself what you'd chant when trotting into a firing line. A bent for military history and linguistic history may be weird, but here I am.

Things are different now, you redcoats came over here trying to throw your weight around, but hey things are different here, takes a different kind of person to succeed and go forward here. What I’m trying to point out is that individualism in the “new world” is why it existed and a whole lot of everyone wanted to come here. Basically it didn’t matter where and what you came from, what mattered is what you achieved and did. That was a humongous thing back then and is now.
