Thank you😊 changed the fuel filter on my truck for the first time..with cost of living I am Learning new and amazing ways to save a penny here and there
Got a 2017 Echo diesel Ram 1500 Bighorn bought in the first part of 2018 just watched your video to replace a fuel filter got 50,000 K on the truck use freezer glad bag helped out a hell of a lot didn't spill a drop took all of 20 minutes here in Ontario they want $280 to change a fuel filter go figure I know they recommend every 31000 but I only fuel up at truck stops in the fuel their gets turned over pretty quick thanks again for your video
Only thing I would add for the first timer doing this is that once you have drained the filter and begin to remove it, it takes a bit of a tug to completely free the filter from the end of the centerpiece that runs through the middle of it. Watch the portion of this video as the filter&cup are pulled down from the truck and the filter separates from the cup for a second. That is simply because the filter needs a bit of a tug for it’s rubber grommet to clear the centerpiece as it is detached from the truck.
Is there an easy way to remove the stupid filter? That middle rubber grommet makes it a bi**h to get off. I actually pulled off one of the rods running through the middle. I thought I broke it. Luckily I have the know how to put the rod back on correctly. But I don’t want to pull that thing off again. Wondering if anybody had a trick to remove it with a tug, instead of the muscle pull I had to do on the other filter.
@@XChevyPreRunnerX sorry to hear that bro. I didn’t have that experience. Heck I had not thought about what if that center piece came off 😬😬. Kudos to the engineers, jerks…..🤣🤣
Easier way to do the whole job... forget the screw. Leave the drain screw alone, bust the housing cap loose with the special tool, cover the whole thing with a gallon ziplock bag and then unscrew. Drains the whole thing in seconds.
I just broke the screw wondering why the hell I need to pry this thing off. So I'm completely fucking stuck. I should have aired on my better judgement but I was just following the tutorial like a sheep. Goddamnit what the fuck am I going to do.
thanks for the video - i was wondering if you could answer this as well, if a piece of debris falls into the ecodiesel tank (1cm x 1cm piece of wood lets say) will it clog up the system and is there a way to take it out?
What's the process for priming if your truck has a push button start? Do you just push the ignition without holding the brake to turn on the system but not turn over the motor? Thanks for the video!
I dont even unscrew the screw, i loose the whole thing and when able by hand i have a 2l coke cut a the end so i cover the whole the whole thing and unscrew the rest. You just need to unscrew the 2l cap and and fill the old diesel in a canister at the end
Yes. As long as it isn't leaking. It's a bit paranoid to replace them with every filter change, but is inexpensive and they don't when the last one was done, so include one to swap every time. If the old ring is still flexible, is not cracked, and is not super deformed it will be fine.
Hi Corey how much does the fuel filter cost ? and what would be the miles to km change ? I live in Ontario Canada so everything up here is in km. Thanks
Press the start button once without holding it and without your foot on the brake pedal - that turns on the ignition without starting the truck and that will trigger the fuel pump!
I tried to replace the fuel filter on my 2016 RAM 1500 eco diesel but when I removed the cup the filter didn’t come out, it’s kinda stuck in my truck. What should I do? Can I just pull it down even if it’s hardly come off?
Does the yellow drain plug actually pull out as shown? I've seen other videos where its retained and does not come all the way out. I'm doing my filter soon and just curious before I get started.
What do you mean? Fuel is still inside, the yellow plug has a nub at the end so it doesn't fall out. You just push it back in and tighten it down to seal it up.
Got it - that plug comes out with a firm tug. There is a nub on the end which is just a bit larger than the hole. You can pull the plug out with a tug and pop it back in place no problem.
So I just did mine today I tried to start it after changing an it was cranking for about 6 seconds before finally going an engine light came on about fuel rail high pressure or something? Any insight? Was it priming itself?
I broke the screw whilst thinking to myself this is completely unnecessary since it's already loose. Now I'm stuck! FUCK! Don't remove that screw it's completely unnecessary.
It is a Dodge. Stop calling it by the make name...😛 Stupid marketing gimmicks. They did this to disassociate the terrible reliably of Dodge cars from their trucks.
excellent production quality. Filming was on point, the script was precise and to the point, and your knowledge is clearly top notch!

Excellent video. Descriptive, and to the point without any fluff.

AWESOME VIDEO!! Learned something new today!! I certainly did not know about the noise or “pumping” that the vehicle does. Great job explaining!!
Glad to help!

Same question I have
@@ferocious4576 6yrs later and I have it figured out. Push the start button without pushing the brake pedal. Should hear everything turn on
Is there a secondary fuel filter on the Ecodiesels
How do you prime the pump with push button start?
The fuel filter wrench fits filters up to 2019. I called the company to ask will this wrench work on a 2021 fuel filter? They didn't know.
Great directions. I followed this and had no problems!
Will you get better fuel mileage with new filter
So dose the fuel filter need to be changed when the oil filter is changed at 10000 or is it 20000
Driver side or passenger side? I don't see it under there
Great video, I'm changing mine myself as the dealer wants $200 to do this in Ontario Canada
Also from Ontario, when the service advisor told me 190 dollars I told them to forget it
@@Chewie1212 Same price here in Missouri. So I told them to forget it as well.
How do you prime it with a push start ?
What year and model Ram truck is that?

I forgot to replace the o-ring and ended up putting the old one up there. Is that ok?
Yes. As long as it isn't leaking. It's a bit paranoid to replace them with every filter change, but is inexpensive and they don't when the last one was done, so include one to swap every time. If the old ring is still flexible, is not cracked, and is not super deformed it will be fine.
Great video, simple and professional production!
Great video. Thanks for the content. Helpful tips to make my next filter change easier.
Where is the water separator? Is it integrated inside the filter. Please let me know. I've been doing this without one over it.
Water separating is part of the filtration design so no separate element or part.
Hi Corey how much does the fuel filter cost ? and what would be the miles to km change ? I live in Ontario Canada so everything up here is in km. Thanks
owners manual
How do you prime with the new 2020 when you can't just turn the the key to the on position when its push button start?
Press the start button once without holding it and without your foot on the brake pedal - that turns on the ignition without starting the truck and that will trigger the fuel pump!
Where do I get the fuel filter wrench or cup
I tried to replace the fuel filter on my 2016 RAM 1500 eco diesel but when I removed the cup the filter didn’t come out, it’s kinda stuck in my truck. What should I do? Can I just pull it down even if it’s hardly come off?
The filter can get sort of stuck in there, a firm tug should do it!
Is the fuel temperature sensor on top of the canister above the filter?
Just asking because I'm getting a code p0183 fuel temperature sensor a circuit high, could a dirty fuel filter trigger this code?
What a great video. Thanks
Does the yellow drain plug actually pull out as shown? I've seen other videos where its retained and does not come all the way out. I'm doing my filter soon and just curious before I get started.
You can pop it out or leave it in place. I pop it out to make draining faster.
Corey, what's left inside the bowl when you "pop it out"
What do you mean? Fuel is still inside, the yellow plug has a nub at the end so it doesn't fall out. You just push it back in and tighten it down to seal it up.
In your video, you show completely removing the yellow plug. To my knowledge, it doesn't come all the way out.
Got it - that plug comes out with a firm tug. There is a nub on the end which is just a bit larger than the hole. You can pull the plug out with a tug and pop it back in place no problem.
What kind of symptoms would you get...when the fuel filter is in need of changing?
The CEL. is coming on in my vehicle.... hope this helps me.
Seems like a easy job I like you I have a lift too
No key, push button start, how do you prime the system? No key to turn.
Pressing the button once quickly without your foot on the brake pedal will engage the ignition but not start the engine.
I pried it off and the damn thing broke great explanation you actually have to find the grooves for it actually pop out thanks bud
So I just did mine today I tried to start it after changing an it was cranking for about 6 seconds before finally going an engine light came on about fuel rail high pressure or something? Any insight? Was it priming itself?
You need to wait 30 seconds after you change it for it for the fuel to prime. You had "low" fuel rail pressure because there was air in the system.
@@curtiswall3703 then what? Truck fired up and works fine after priming is a few more times. But the light is still on.
Great video!! Thanks Corey!!
I thought there was 2 fuel filters on the Ecodiesel, like one on the motor and the one you just showed?
No, just one!
I also thought there were two.
So this truck only needs 1 fuel filter while the grand cherokee needs 2 filters for the same ecodiesel motor? that's strange
The book on my 2016 says to change at 30K miles
Thank you my brother great video
Exelente video
Thank you for sharing!
Where did you purchase the fuel filter wrench?? I've checked Auto Zone and Advance Auto.

Thanks! Great video...
Thank you 🇺🇸
It’s not if they will catch on fire 🔥 is when they will they will all catch on fire if not fixed to EGR valve or delete it
Thanks for the tutorial
Should be on top of engine in the first place. Takes me 10 min to replace fuel and oil filter on my car without any spills, both are on top
Well done
Thank you!!!
Good job bro😊😊
Is this where water gets separated?
I broke the screw whilst thinking to myself this is completely unnecessary since it's already loose. Now I'm stuck! FUCK! Don't remove that screw it's completely unnecessary.
You don't have to replace the o-ring if it's not leaking.
It comes with a new fuel filter so why not replace it?
Stop calling it a DODGE Corey!!!
