You see we know that zanpaktou is the physical manifestations of a SOUL reapers reatsu . This it shows the significance of the pine tree in his life thus it is the part of his sword also.

I think the situation with Shunsui's Zanpakuto giving "birth" is similar to Zaraki situation, it detached a fragement of itself and manifested it in another being
To make sure you don't get too excited or confused, that isn't really Nanao's shikai. It is an ancient ritual blade used to kill Gods and for other rituals. The Ise clan is very good at prayer magic or something to that extent. This is probably why she's so good at using kido and even makes custom stuff that can repel Quincy like Haschwalt. The zabpakuto is passed down but not hereditary, meaning it's not solely hers, but everyone's in that clan. But it doesn't have a shikai or a Bankai and its sole purpose is to kill Gods. It's highly likely it cannot do anything against regular enemies, as it's a dull blade and it specifically "endured" - absorbs Godly/Deity like powers, but nothing said about regular attacks. Shunsui even states it can't cat people down, it destroys godly powers instead. So whilst it is very powerful in scenarios like against Lille, it'll be useless in most cases. She can only beat elite level guys, which is super weird, but unique as hell. I imagine Ichimonji might be able to bypass this by taking away its meaning and name before it can reflect anything, and it seems nothing but Almighty negates that. Probably the SK as well, but who knows.
Gotta say that it was SUPER cool to See Nanao Pop off the way she did. It is pretty sad how there’s just 2 more episode left of this Cour!!! I honestly don’t think I can wait another year for the Final Stretch!!!
Just for your information Michael: There are romours that we'll get "three" more episodes in Cour 3. One episode next week and a 40-minute double episode special as the part 3 final in 2 weeks! 🙏🏻🔥
so how i get it, Shunsui's original Zanpakuto was just Katen(Ohana). But when Nanao's mom gave him the sword, Katen gave birth to Kyokotsu to hide it. So his zanpakuto essentially evolved into a dual wielding one, from only "Katen" to "Katen Kyokotsu".
Honestly, I'd love to know the timeline of events. She asked him to hide it when he was a matured academy student, but later we see he is a full Shinigami in his black uniform when he hears of her execution. Did he take the blade when he was a student? At what stage of his zanpakutou's development did these changes happen? 1) Standard Asauchi? 2) Personalized Zanpakutou (name not revealed, like Zaraki's for most of the series)? 3) Shikai unlocked by giving its name? 4) Bankai precipice (able to manifest spirt in real world)? 5) Bankai obtained?
@Watcher40K9 her execution probably took some time from knowing the artifact was missing, to narrowing it down that it was her, so that explains how he was already a Soul reaper. Plus, Shunsui was Yama's student and quite impressive at that, so i wouldn't be surprised if he graduated really early. As for his Zanpakuto, we've seen instances of people having their Zanpakuto evolve based on their new realizations or when the zanpakuto changes hands. Like Zaraki using an already imprinted Zanpakuto as his own until he eventually imprinted on it himself and changed it. And Ichigo obviously, who also managed to get a dual Zanpakuto after realising his Quincy lineage.
I find it sad how Nanao's mother assures Shunsui that keeping the sword will not bring him any misfortune, considering that while he had it hidden, every important person to him (except Nanao) died.
In this arc along he lose his father figure and have to watch his own best friend sacrifices himself for mimihagi. Give this chill guy a rest already jeez
It’s crazy how Shunsui and Nanao are Uncle and Niece the entire time nice writing it explains a lot including their relationship, Shunsui entire swag are sentimental items from Nanao’s parents
This, in the manga was deemed, one of Kubo's biggest asspulls by members of the community. I love it because while it does come out of nowhere it explains why Nanao never has a sword. Also Shunsui saying Kyokotsu is Nanao's zanpakuto was a cliffhanger in the manga
I'm glad I'm not the only one who saw it as an asspull. You can't write opponents to be so unreasonably strong even a head captain's bankai isn't enough, but a random sword from a cursed clan is the only thing that could stop it? Nah that's weak.
@@ubelorias2973And to add to your point these aren't regular or even above average Quincies. These are Royal Guard ( Soul-King amped Ychwach) Quincies to add to your point.
@@shanebovell6733except this is wrong because Nanao's zanpakuto was always planned. There was a decent amount of foreshadowing for it, so it wasn't just pulled out of nowhere. It also isn't some "random cursed sword," it is one of the sacred treasures of the Soul Society. Remember that the last two that we saw evaporated the Sokyoku. Remember that these are all implied to have some relation to ancient times. And concerning its convenience, no, Nanao wasn't given a sword just to beat Lille. It's the other way round. Lille was given his powers to show off Nanao's zanpakuto
@@ruonai.4195 and to add to that. The concept alone, that there are Zanpakutos that don't belong to a singular person but instead belong to a family is such an interesting aspect. Think about what the sword does, with the fact that the Soul King is missing all of his limbs. Does that imply that a Male Ise member of the ancient past severed the Soul King's limbs and that's the origin of the curse
7:58 - I mean, Shunsui loves women after all. Though in all likelihood, it could be that since Katen is missing an eye, the eye is the ‘child’ and it’s Kyokotsu (hence Katen Kyokotsu and the two swords.) 17:33 - Shadows Gone, because the light of God was repelled.
Not enough people picked on the fact that Nanao asked Shunsui to accept a curse that killed man from ise family (which he isn't) or men that marries with Ise woman (which was confirmed with nanao's mother, also she said that nothing won't happen to shunsui back then because he ain't related to the family), coupled with shunsui reaction to nanao declaration lol dunno how people are missing it, iirc in early bleach episode (don't remember if it was filler or not) when shunsui was talking to women, nanao got mad at him and some girl said that nanao was shunsui's ex and that they are not together anymore but she stayed as his lieutenant. Shunsui is based on tragedy and there is tragedy where this kind of story happen, also nanao is from noble family and in noble and ancient family it's not rare to marries in family, Hashirama from naruto was married to mito who was his cousin and they get children together, also they are spirits so if it's the case that's not the end of the world.
11:50 - You see how he reacted as "I wouldn't Mind calling myself God" but in reality he was only The God's (Yhwatch) Messanger.. So what i think is that after achieving this much power Lille Barro got cocky and started to think he has the ability to become a GOD.. but as he was extremely loyal to Yhwatch he refuses to accept that he is a GOD or has Godly Powers. thats why at 16:37 he attacked them thinking that the light will not reflect to him as he is not a GOD.. which leads him to his DEATH!.. What a Great ending to His Character! 🔥
Divine swords like Shinken Hakkyoken and (spoiler form the novels) Enrakyoten, are zanpakuto very different from the one created by Oetsu. This words are ancestral zanpakuto and they are very ancient and only Noble clans posses some of them. Since they are the only zanpakuto that can be handed down by multiples individuals, I think they do not posses a bankai. (I’m not entirely sure about that but I remember something along this. Bankai is the deepest connection with a zanpakuto and it will be controversial if a zanpakuto that is supposed to be handed down posses a bankai. As I said I don’t remember if this is 100% canon or just a very plausible theory the fandom goes along with.😅 anyways, this swords are so broken that honestly, they do not need a bankai. And all of them has a different curse on them.)
Is Shunsui actually Nanao's uncle ? She's the daughter of his sister in law, I don't know what would that make him, but calling him her uncle caught me off guard. I never really thought of them being related, specially becuase when I first read the manga their dialogue and the way she refered to him seemed a lot more romantic than in the episode.
Pernida was very... SINISTER! Meanwhile, we have this angel going through numerous forms described in the bible, including that very creepy wheel-head with the eyes lining along the outside.
One of the more unique Zanpakutou. Literally only worked once in a blue moon today. But I imagine it saw more uses during ancient time where "gods" are still plentiful. Because the Japanese meaning for God is such a finicky subject because of the word Kami has a lot of meaning depending on the context.
Now that I think about it, isn't this owl modeled on the Minerva Owl? There is a monster bird modeled on the Minerva Owl in the manga by Kazuhiro Fujita, and that one also had the ability to "kill anything it sees." It might be similar to that.
You know what really got me with this episode? The way Lille's eyes kept rapidly blinking asynchronously. Yes, Shunsui is Nanao’s uncle. I kind of wish they directly called him as such because I didn’t catch that when I read this chapter until later.
While Nanao's sword may seem like a complete asspull, I’d personally say it was a semi-asspull. There are 3 types of foreshadowing for Shinken Hakkyoken: direct, indirect & meta. 1. Direct: When Senjumaru fought against the Schutzstaffel and trapped Lille in her Bankai’s mirror room, Lille’s attacks were reflected back at him, signaling the exact manner in which his demise would be brought about in the near future. 2. Indirect: Remember back in Soul Society arc, when Ukitake and Shunsui used one of the Shihoin clan’s sacred treasures, the Shihoin shield, to destroy the Soukyoku? The Soukyoku is pretty much an elevated being that, as far as we know, can only be destroyed via that shield. This introduces two things, first that the noble families (even lower ones like the Ise clan) may each have an artifact that could potentially affect an elevated/divine being in some way, presumably one targeting and restraining or damaging their existence. The second thing is that, keeping this information in mind, it would seem like Soul Society, specifically the noble families, have always been prepared for a potential war against divine beings. 3. Meta: As some other people have already pointed out, in Japan there is a well-known and venerated Ise shrine, said to be the home of the bronze sacred mirror (Yata no Kagami), whose name means “The eight Ata mirror”, giving further context to Shinken’s name. Practically, Nanao’s surname Ise is a type of meta foreshadowing, in that even some other characters’ names have already been used in this manner, most notably Unohana Retsu, whose last name means “violent”. This part is, understandably, harder to pick up on for the non-Japanese, but quite easy and trivial for native speakers, I’d wager. In conclusion, the possibility of such a sacred artifact as Shinken Hakkyoken existing is not a stretch, along with its effect against divine beings. (perhaps if Nanao had fought against a different divine being, she’d also be able to reflect a specific attack?). What does feel underdeveloped is the Ise curse, and the lore surrounding the noble houses in general. Hence why I said that this feels like a semi-asspull, as more emphasis could have been placed in the story on those sacred treasures the noble families possess and what potential effects they may have, and Nanao’s backstory could’ve been mentioned earlier in Bleach, etc.
Noble families have special Zanpakutos. Nanao's is somewhat implied to be what cut the Soul King in pieces. The filler arc about the zanpakuto rebellion was an arc that Kubo came up with but never drew due to time constraints. It featured the Kuchiki sword.
there is a 伊勢神宮(ise shrine)in mie prefecture in japan. I don't know the detail about it but shrine symbolizes god so name might relate from her clan and sword
Another banger reaction! And yeah the whole gist of Kyoraku’s backstory centers around this idea that people keep dying and giving him treasured heirlooms and keepsakes and it feels like he is shouldering these burdens, these responsibilities because people that mean something to him keep dying and leaving him these precious relics.
about Shunsui's Zanpakuto, notice how Ohana is missing the right eye and then Okyo only has a right eye on her face, my guess is that's probably how she made Okyo.
Just to give some context to a couple things No duel zanpakuto is a natural occurrence. There's a reason there's 2 of them. With Katen Kyōkotsu Katen birthed Kyokotsu to hide the Shinken Hakkyōken. I'd assume that means that Shunsui originally had just a singular blade before Nanao's mother asked him to hide the sword. Ukitake had 2 because of Mimihage. Then ichigo has 2 because of White and "old man Zangetsu" being part of his power and him accepting that there were 2 parts of his power Also the part where Shunsui says Kyokotsu and shes standing behind Nanao makes it seem like thats her zanpakuto but its not. That was actually the end of a chapter and people lost their minds thinking it was her Zanpakuto but Nanao doesnt have one. She says she tried with an Asauchi but it didnt work most likely because of the curse. Also also when Kyoraku said Okyo that was a nickname for Kyokotsu just like Ohana is one for Katen. When Katen says Sakuranosuke thats actually Shunsui's middle name
That's not even Lille Barro anymore bro, he turned into a chicken god 😅 The trumpet attack is freaking lit 🔥 I got goosebumps watching this episode, it's emotional, heartwarming but also epic In my religion if the angel blows the trumpet it means the end of the world.
Small correction. Shinken Hakkyouken was not even in shikai form but base form. She couldn't have learned how to release a shikai form because she never weilded a zanpakuto before.
Nanao is built different. She had zero combat experience, and hasn't even held a sword before yet she still stood on business against a literal Quincy God.
@@chercher304An ass pull is when you create something on the spot in order to get yourself out of a corner you wrote yourself into. This is not that, it was clearly planned. Kubo would have to be an idiot to write himself into a corner as he had the chance to kill of Lille with Shunsui's Bankai without even needing to use Nanao or the OP Zanpakuto.
@@omegashenron8 no that's not what an asspull is. Kubo did write himself into a corner within the context of the world he created that this one Royal guard was so strong not even a head captain's bankai could kill it. It meant that he had to write a means for a random clan to have the one weapon capable of dealing with a situation where a person with no prior knowledge or training with said weapon effectively used it to kill a being that had to pretend to be dumb as rocks and attack head on after being told the sword reflects his attacks and after being given an example. It is terrible writing. Nanao served no other purpose than this moment with a weapon that was never mentioned at all in the show til the very moment it was asspulled.
I think that shinken hakkyoken is a fixed zanpakuto, it can't evolve into a shikai and bankai. Because it's a primordial sword used for ritual and maybe it's already exist before the concept of zanpakuto was formed. I have a theory back then that this sword somehow related to soul king because it says that is a divine sword that can confront and reflect a godly being power. Maybe it has a fragment of the soul king in the sword
Even back when we reached this part in the manga, I always wondered how the shippers who paired Kyoraku with Nanao reacted to the revelation that he's her uncle 😂
So Aizen said that Nanoa's mom wanted to protect her "unborn" daughter, but then it pans out to show Nanoa alive and around a toddler's age. I'm confused
There's a theory that this Shinken Hakkyoken is used to dismember the Soul King. That's why Central 46 was quick to execute her for losing such an important item.

Taro (the anatomy model from latest episode of Dandadan) is voiced by Gintoki's VA from Gintama who also has Kintama (Kin means Gold and Tama means Balls, it's a slang for sharing weiner) , he also voiced Joseph Joestar from JoJo's Bizzare Adventure who is master of running (Perfect for Taro) and Charlotte Katakuri from One Piece (Mochi Man)
What does it have to do with bleach? He didn't even read your comment because you're so off topic.
Man I've been waiting for u to react to this, i lowkey enjoyed this ep even the animation. W ep
Thanks michael we look forward to your reactions 🎉
I think the situation with Shunsui's Zanpakuto giving "birth" is similar to Zaraki situation, it detached a fragement of itself and manifested it in another being
12:22 Aizen Rizzing girls without even trying
Le Aizen * everything was a part of my plan 😂😂
Probably the SK as well, but who knows.
been waiting for ur reaction brother , Nanao's sword release was amazing this ep ,animation is amazing as always🙃
It doesn't have a release, i think you mean reveal?
It wasn't a release. The Shinken Hakkyōken always looks like that. It doesn't have a release. It's a ceremonial sword and nothing more
@@aarons6935 auto correct mb :(
@aa_69 Autocorrect is a curse i swear
I'm so excited for next week. Much more context will be given for the relations of Bazz-B and Haschwalth.
you are safe to watch the opening now
Gotta say that it was SUPER cool to See Nanao Pop off the way she did.
It is pretty sad how there’s just 2 more episode left of this Cour!!! I honestly don’t think I can wait another year for the Final Stretch!!!
2 actually it goes till 14 episodes the first episode was supposed to be at the end of cour 2
the random dialogue of the girls about squad 5 was very funny
You calling Lille's 2nd Vollstandig "KFC" is wild! 😂

The studio is going over the top extra for this show , love it
Neither confirmed or denied, but Shinken Hakkyouken was rumoured to be the tool used to cut the Soul King's Limbs.
Nanao freaked out in SS cuz thats how her Mom died, until Shunsui comforted her
This, in the manga was deemed, one of Kubo's biggest asspulls by members of the community.
Oh yeah a lot of people hated it, but Kubo was ill and was being rushed. A lot of manga have asspulls during the last arc, it's sad but true
Now it’s official that on 28th December, we will get 2 episodes just like previous cour, that is episode 39 and 40, total is 14 episodes
SIRI SHUDDUP MICHAEL ANGELO JUST POSTED THE BLEACH EPISODE!!!!
"He's slowly starting to look like cheese now" had me dying LOL
6:43 Literally what I was thinking, SINFUL NINGEN 😭
The bird didn't die, it just fell😂
2:13 yeah bro when they showed the backstory i was like oh wow.
"Trompete" attack is so cool bro🔥
Is Shunsui actually Nanao's uncle ? She's the daughter of his sister in law, I don't know what would that make him, but calling him her uncle caught me off guard. I never really thought of them being related, specially becuase when I first read the manga their dialogue and the way she refered to him seemed a lot more romantic than in the episode.
She is his brother daughter
So that make him her uncle
@husseinali4491 Is she actually ? I don't know why I never thought her mother had a baby with his brother 🤣
Bro why did lille form, abilities and animation look so majestic🔥🔥🔥also that backstory was really good
The trompete sound effect is so sick
Pernida was very... SINISTER!
Meanwhile, we have this angel going through numerous forms described in the bible, including that very creepy wheel-head with the eyes lining along the outside.
One of the more unique Zanpakutou. Literally only worked once in a blue moon today. But I imagine it saw more uses during ancient time where "gods" are still plentiful. Because the Japanese meaning for God is such a finicky subject because of the word Kami has a lot of meaning depending on the context.
エンディング曲が良いです!great choice🎉
Challenge: 'Watching Michael's reaction and taking a shot everytime he makes a joke'😂..Love it
16:54 Foreshadowing is insane
Omg I just understand stood the deadly foreshadowing just saying 😊
Now that I think about it, isn't this owl modeled on the Minerva Owl? There is a monster bird modeled on the Minerva Owl in the manga by Kazuhiro Fujita, and that one also had the ability to "kill anything it sees." It might be similar to that.
You know what really got me with this episode? The way Lille's eyes kept rapidly blinking asynchronously. Yes, Shunsui is Nanao’s uncle. I kind of wish they directly called him as such because I didn’t catch that when I read this chapter until later.
This episode is absolutely peak Cinema 👌
The next episode is absolute cinema.
Shout out 2 Movie 🍿📹📹📽️🎥🎥🎭📹📹Perriot Studios.
there is a 伊勢神宮(ise shrine)in mie prefecture in japan.

Just to give some context to a couple things
No duel zanpakuto is a natural occurrence. Then ichigo has 2 because of White and "old man Zangetsu" being part of his power and him accepting that there were 2 parts of his power
Also the part where Shunsui says Kyokotsu and shes standing behind Nanao makes it seem like thats her zanpakuto but its not.
That's not even Lille Barro anymore bro, he turned into a chicken god 😅
The trumpet attack is freaking lit 🔥
I got goosebumps watching this episode, it's emotional, heartwarming but also epic
In my religion if the angel blows the trumpet it means the end of the world.
Gotta respect her hustle
A literal Ass pull by kubo!!! I dont know how it makes sense!! But bleach is the best thing ever!! And u cant convince me otherwise!!😊
@@chercher304An ass pull is when you create something on the spot in order to get yourself out of a corner you wrote yourself into. This is not that, it was clearly planned. Kubo would have to be an idiot to write himself into a corner as he had the chance to kill of Lille with Shunsui's Bankai without even needing to use Nanao or the OP Zanpakuto.
ass pull no jutsu
Yama died and left him his position as Head Captain. Shunsui cannot catch a break!
9:21 yes....in Epi 35....Ohana says ..still wearing another women's kimono..did you remember that?
Absolulte masterpiece of an episode. Barro so terrifying
After watching this episode, you can feel that Kyoraku and Stark are actually quite similar
Even back when we reached this part in the manga, I always wondered how the shippers who paired Kyoraku with Nanao reacted to the revelation that he's her uncle 😂
Man said you should…went for the head lol
bazz b vs haschwalth is the last fight of the cour unless they add something
3:07 bro gave the same reaction that I gave when I watch that scene 😭
So Aizen said that Nanoa's mom wanted to protect her "unborn" daughter, but then it pans out to show Nanoa alive and around a toddler's age. I'm confused
17:07 well well well 😂
12:21
yeah That randon is absolutely right 🤣
4:19 BRO THATS AN OWLL LOOOL
Hope we can get an opening reaction next episode
There's a theory that this Shinken Hakkyoken is used to dismember the Soul King. That's why Central 46 was quick to execute her for losing such an important item.
Nope, in the light novel it was confirmed that this is not the sword that was used to dismember the soul king
@iamdarkphantom I've read all the light novels and nowhere it does mention the sword.
Who is the father 😂😂😂❤
I don’t think Katen literally gave birth to Kyokotsu, I think he meant that in a more figurative sense and Katen just “created” Kyokotsu
Nah Kyoraku definitely tap that sword. Won't blame him tho I would too /j
“The og central 46 were trash”
