Following are the importance of coins and inscriptions in decoding the political, social, and economic history of India
    * The numismatics approach -
More number of coins explain the boom of economy, high number of transactions.
Type of metal used such as gold coins during kushans and gupta period explains high economic growth.
Potrait of kings on the coins with swords , rowheads, and clothing style helps to understand the philosophical aspect of the ruler .Eg, Satvahans
Portraits of god on the coins deciphers religious beliefs of the society.
Coins found at religious institutions as donations explain social support for religions.
    *Paleography and Epigraphy(inscriptional studies)
Inscriptions mostly written by rulers to give message to its subjects.
    Explains philosophy of the ruler.
Inscriptions on rocks, pillars, trees barks, wooden tablets and copper plates have been written for following reasons.
Royal Order- Related to religious and social instruction, political affirmations, and administrative structures.
    Votive Record-
    For religious purposes.
    Eulogy -
Writings about the king eg Allahabad Prahasti descibes Samudragupta as a great warrior.
    Donative Records-
Inscriptions related to them explains religious ideologies of the society.
    Land Records-
Copper plate inscriptions explains polity of the era.
Hence we can conclude coins and inscriptions as a mojor source for constucting social , economic and political history of India.

Answer of the given question 👇👇👇
INTRODUCTION: The study of Ancient History is dependent on the materials remains from the ancient age. In which Coins and inscriptions are the most important sources of archaeology and contributed a lot in the field of history writing.
▶️ COINS: Numismatics revealed a lot about the ancient scenarios of India. We can learn the following facts about the political, social and economical history of India ----
    i) Through the inscriptions on the coins we can know the ruling Dynasty of that time . Like the Satbahana's coins in Maharashtra. We also use to know about the tenure of that ruling Dynasty.
ii) The potrait of rulers on the coins describe the social life of that time. The rituals followed by the king , type of dresses used by the ruler etc. e.g. the coins of Samudragupta in which we came to know about the believes of the ruler.
iii) The material used to make the coins and the total number of coins revealed the economical conditions of that era. E.g. In 0-600 AD the coins of Kushan and Gupta are made with gold shows the economical prosperity of that era. After the reign of Guptas the coins are made by Copper indicated the declining economy of India.
▶️ INSCRIPTIONS: By the Epigraphy and Palaeography of stones, pillars, walls etc. revealed the following massages :
    i) Royal orders of the ruling authority. E.g. Ashoka used to inscript his orders on the rocks, pillars, walls in his Dynasty.
ii) The poet's Eulogy were exaggerated version of King's rule. Like the Allahabad Prasasti explained the Samudragupta's ruling.
iii) The rulers used to donate or grant their lands to someone using copper plates . By studing those plates we used to learn about the economical conditions of that era .
Thus the archeological remaining like coins and inscriptions solidify the history and construct a clear image of the social, political and economical conditions of ancient India.

    Answer :
There are two sources mainly to know the history Of India i.e literary sources and archaeological sources.
Literary sources: the information gathered in written forms that explain the essence of ancient cultures and history.
Archaeological sources: It tells about the artefacts which include coins and inscription.
Inscription throw the light on every aspect of history, in the form of political order, in the form of donation, in the form of commendation also. In the same way coins contributed in the history. They convey the names of kings with their titles and portrait, event, places, dates, dynasties and achievement.
Political history: 13 th rock edict of Ashoka gives information about kalinga war, Hathigumpha inscription of Kahrvela tells us about events during his region.
In the same way coins of gupta dynasty give idea of territorial extent. Rajarani coins of chandragupta maurya tells us about lichhavi in the hand of gupta dynasty.
Social history: Eran inscription of bhanugupta give first evidence of sati pratha. Mathura pillar inscription give information about widow remarriage.
In the same way gupta ruler's coins have portrait of king and queen which give us idea of about their life style , dressing sense of that period of time.
Economic history: Ashoka 's rumindei inscription gives information about the taxes .
Kumargupta inscription : Damodar copper plates tells us about donation of land to temple.
We have found that the coins of samudragupta made up of pure gold coins which reflect their prosperity. Whereas in the region of skandgupta their economy were not so high as samudragupta as his coins are not made up of pure gold.

Regarding gold coins time line should also be kept in mind . If the society don't know about lead but they have found gold already so for them lead is more valuable ..... And also the value of coin matters of a ruler has made a special coine only for super rich people like coustom made and that coin is made of lead so for then 10 gold coins doesn't mean anything infront of that one lead coustom coin(can be a possibility 😅)

The study of history mainly depend upon the archaeological evidence , Literature ,coins and inscription. The deciphered language coins and inscription play significant role in understanding.
    1. Political aspects : the inscription of the Ashoka ,Rudradhaman ,satavahana ,and shungas represent their strong administration system ,taxation system ,feudal system and all provide us information of very first most developed complex bureaucracy.
2.From Ashoka inscription we acquire information about the varna system , status of women in the society at that time and also religious influence of Buddhism and concept of religion tolerance in diverse society.
3.The economic of empire can be estimated on the basis of coins that issued by them i.e satavahan issued lead, copper and silver coins with bilingual nature whereas Gupta 's issued gold coin which represent the prosperity of the empire that era .it is refers as 'Golden age'.
Similarly bilingual coins with portrait of Greek and Indian gods deity represent the view of religion tolerance in bactrian .
These information about the incredible history of Indian is derive from the numismatics sources of the history so they are important.
